My yearly Veteran’s Day Post - Semper Fidelis · 9:02pm Nov 11th, 2020
A pony salute to the veterans of the armed forces, in whatever country they may be.

May your steel never rust nor your skills ever dull as you stand watch over those of us who live in the freedom you protect.
Dawnscroll once left this quote on my Veteran’s Day story, To The Bugle’s Last Call, and I think it appropriate to repeat it now:
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
— Robert Laurence Binyon (1869-1943)
A day late salute to the Marine Corps 245th anniversary (Hoo-ahh!) and the two year anniversary of my son joining the US Army. He's in Germany right now, and has become romantically involved with one of the natives, a Bulgarian I believe.
Half the Corps just had an aneurysm, and I couldn't be happier. Happy Vet's Day, my dude.
My uncle's a Marine. I once made the mistake of using the past tense there and was swiftly corrected.
you're welcome. From my father (passed) 2nd Div. Marines WW1, my son, Marine. and myself, US Coast Guard.
5396635 Grats. Coasties count as vets too. :) Marines and R. Lee Emory is why I wrote this chapter in Substitute Librarian after all.
Incidentally, today is Remembrance Day, here in Canada.
More or less the same thing as Veteran's Day in the US, just a different name.
Happy vet day and to my jarhead friends Have all the crayons you want for your birthday
GOd bless our active troops from and Old Paratrooper
Being a veteran paid for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees, so I guess I can't really complain about that.

Actually, in the U.S., it used to be "Remembrance Day," or something similar. The day is celebrated all across Europe because it marks the end of World War One. The US changed it at some point.
My thanks to all of the Veterans out there... your service and our freedoms are appreciated!
I may be late, but I can still salute and give my respects to all the Veterans out there. Hoo-Rah!
