Bout time for an update, eh?

Not a big enough update to qualify for Rabbit Tracks, but this is just to say: Work is continueing on "Just a Pony", albeit slowly. Two more chapters down, then I got sidetracked by videogames, now I'm sidetracked by homework and sickness, and then hopefully back to "Just a Pony" soon!

    Irony

I tried to write a blog about how I haven't been able to write. I accidentally hit ctrl+r and refreshed the page, losing everything I had written. A cruel bit of irony. I am tired and angry with myself and scared for my future as a writer and I do not have the energy to retype it, so pretend there is some sincere and heartfelt explanation here and you're moved by the struggles of some weird

Pictures should be fixed across all stories

At this point if anyone is seeing broken images in my fics on Fimfiction please let me know! For anyone looking for a new image hosting site with Discord having done the Big Suck, I used Postimages and it was rather simple and efficient.

    Image hosting

Real quick, I know my images are all borked again; what are folks using for image hosting these days? Needs to be free and the less likely it is to implode the better... I was using Discord until just recently which is why this mess happened lmao

    Becoming myself

It's a bit strange that I've spent days trying to figure out how to write this. It's such a big thing and I want to get that across to y'all, but I never will. So I'm just going to rip off the bandaid and get this out there. Because something amazing happened to me.

1. What is your first name?
Katie, for all intents and purposes

2. How old are you?
About to be hitting the big 3-0 in a couple of months

3. What country are you from?
USA, born in Massachusetts but moved to Florida at a very young age. So I Southerners think I have a Northern accent, and when I visit Mass they think I have a Southern accent lmao

4. What do you look like?
My profile picture, obviously. Except I have hair lol

5. What do you wish you looked like?
Me, but like, more female facial features

6. How did you come across MLP:FIM?
I saw people liked it online and downloaded acquired the first two seasons through totally legit means :trixieshiftright:

7. What is your favorite ship?
TwiShySet!!!

8. What is your least favorite ship?
Flutterdash. When I first joined the fandom you couldn't go anywhere without seeing it, and its fans were obnoxious about how It'S CaNoN!!! all the time. Is why I headcanoned them as sisters, it was basically me being like "Y'all, characters can be close without it being romantic, chill..."

9.Have you told anyone outside the fandom that you like MLP?
I'm not at all secretive about it. It's not something I go out of my way to tell people, but like, if it comes up it comes up.

10. Were they a family member?
Yeah, most of them know and those who don't it just hasn't come up with. I don't tell most of them that I write fanfic though; only my mom and brother know that.

11. Favorite MLP episode?
Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep? It had great humor, strong characterization, a cool dream world, and tackled an oddly dark topic with the self-harm thing. Loved it.

12. Who is your favorite superhero?
I don't know if I have a favorite, although I do watch them. It was Thor at one point, but I'm not sure if I'd really say he's still my fave.

13. Favorite Anti-hero?
I dunno, probably Homura from Madoka if she counts. Baby gay, needs a hug

14. Favorite supervillain?
Me, bitch

15. Favorite anti-villain?
That's not a word people use :rainbowhuh: And I dunno, I don't really pick favorites of this stuff...

16. What was the last book you read?
Acts of Love while I was editing it. If that doesn't count then probably Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire.

17. What is the last movie you watched?
I think Frozen was the last movie I watched in its entirety (my metamour had never seen it so we decided to show him), though I caught about half of A Knight's Tale since then.

18. Favorite song at the moment?
All these fuckin favorites... I've been listening to a lot of Kevin Devine lately, and Brother's Blood is my favorite one of his songs, so I'll say that

19. What song do you always come back to?
I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spinlight by Brand New, probably

20. What is your current job?
I'm a housewife but I sometimes tell people I'm a full-time author. I... didn't often mention to them how little I make on my writing :twilightblush:

21. What job do you want in the future?
Realistically, I guess I'll say audio engineer. Music is my second love after storytelling, and it's a more secure job

22. Dream job?
Novelist. I dream about paying for a middle-class life with my writing.

23. At this moment what is your greatest achievement?
I've written over a million horse words oh deer god what have I done with my life

24. At this moment what is your greatest failure?
*Gestures vaguely at everything*

26. What is your dream pet?
I want a skunk. They make pretty good pets, actually!

27. Do you own any weapons?
We have many guns in our house but none of them are mine. Most of them are my metamour's father's, but some of them are my metamour's as well.

28. Is there a gun you really want?
Nah I'm not into boom sticks

29. What religion are you?
Atheistic Satanist, member of the Satanic Temple. I have a membership card and everything lmao

30. If you could hang out with one person in history, who would it be?
None, really. The idea of hanging out with someone that I don't really know isn't appealing to me.

31. If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be?
I don't really believe in fucking with death, though there are certainly people who deserve to come back to life. Probably some hero who died in the cause of something truly good like saving a bus full of orphans or some shit, I dunno

Not overly so, but I care about politics. It'll shock and amaze every single one of my followers to know I lean left (democratic socialist)

More or less yeah

Gee Krickis, how come your mom lets you have two girlfriends?

THeart of the Forest

I've been with my wife for thirteen years, neither of us are asexual. Draw your own conclusions from that.

43. What is the craziest thing you have done in your life?
Thinking about this question made me realize I've lived a very boring life...

44. Favorite TV show besides MLP?
I dunno, maybe Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Blood+, She-Ra, or some other show that has big emotions and a driving plotline moving along to a clear end.

45. Do you have a fetish of any kind?
A few yeah

46. Do you regret saying this fetish?
I would if I did!

Me, a trendy fella? I'm shocked and appalled.

USA, born in Massachusetts but moved to Florida at a very young age. So I Southerners think I have a Northern accent, and when I visit Mass they think I have a Southern accent lmao

I've found that all my Southern friends are able to explain a lot of qualities about my voice with me being a Northerner. Particularly the range/tone. To them, it's nasally!

I may be a coffee guy, but this is some tea. (Also, girl, same!)

Me, bitch

'Kay, now I need to see the art of your villain-self 'sona for verification purposes.

Atheistic Satanist, member of the Satanic Temple. I have a membership card and everything lmao

Alright, now I'm hella interested in how this works. So I've heard of agnostic atheists before (agnostics who bet their lot on atheism, really) but not an atheistic religion, and certainly not an organized one with members. Also quite curious if you have any myths about Satanism to dispel.

Gee Krickis, how come your mom lets you have two girlfriends?

Bun's snatching the girlfriends up!

Dear sweet Baphomet please read this no one ever does :fluttershysad:

It's on my read it later for after catching up with White Whales Barbequing!

So basically, the best I can think of describing it is almost like going through the motions of religion while knowing it's not real just because that makes brain feel good. But there is a sorta "this just feels right" aspect to it too, that's not as easy to explain. I would call it spiritual. But like, without any belief in God, Satan, or any sort of (for want of a better phrase) supernatural elements. So there's knowing it doesn't mean anything, but still feeling like at least on a personal level, it does. Plus the Satanic Temple is kind of a political organization. The bigger more well-known sect of Satanism is the Church of Satan (that's Anton LaVey and the Satanic Bible and all that), and they don't really do anything. Their whole thing is often described as a religion of the self; being your own god, sorta. The Satanic Temple by contrast looks at the world around us and asks us to do what we can for it, not for higher reward, but because it's the right thing to do. Satanic Temple causes revolve a lot around religious freedom rights, separation of church and state, women's reproductive causes, and some other misc things here and there.

I suppose the biggest myth to dispel is that we don't worship Satan (we don't even believe he exists). Rather, we worship (if that's the right word) the idea of what Satan represents to us (which could be described as rationality basically; using science and best understanding of the world to form our opinions and judgements). The actual mascot of TST isn't even Satan, it's Baphomet. I describe it (and this is just me, not something taken from the actual TST information) as Satan is our God, Baphomet is our Jesus. Not in an actual "Baphomet is Satan's child" way, but like in a "the face of the Temple" way. Most of the myths kinda dispel themselves from there. We don't sacrifice things to a deity we don't even believe in, obviously. We don't cast spells or use magic (though I believe the Church of Satan does have some belief in magic).

We do have gatherings, (referred to as chapters) but meeting up at them isn't required or anything; most Satanists are probably just people who agree with our ideology and like the dark vibe (and many are probably rebelling against Christianity specifically, let's be honest). I identify it as a spiritual (and I use this word because it gives the right feeling, though I don't mean it literally) connection to me, but I don't know that that's true for other members.

You can read more about it at the Temple's website, if you're interested.

Oh, for others wanting to do this, grab the questions over here.

Flutterdash. When I first joined the fandom you couldn't go anywhere without seeing it, and its fans were obnoxious about how It'S CaNoN!!! all the time.

Huh, I wouldn't have guessed.

That's not a word people use :rainbowhuh:

It's a word I use. But I also use Tvtropes, so... :twilightsheepish:

I'm a housewife but I sometimes tell people I'm a full-time author. I... didn't often mention to them how little I make on my writing

I've written over a million horse words oh deer god what have I done with my life.

The deer god won't help you now. Excuse me, but writing horse words is a perfectly respectable profession. :derpytongue2:

I would if I did!

You don't have to hide it, we know you crave hand-holding.

So basically, the best I can think of describing it is almost like going through the motions of religion while knowing it's not real just because that makes brain feel good.

I'd never be able to do that, it would just feel so pointless to me if I didn't actually believe in the deity in question. I can't say I understand all that well. I'm starting to think that humans are pre-disposed to have some kind of spiritual beliefs, no offense intended.

I do like whenever Satanists try to troll religious organizations. It's always fun.

29. What religion are you?
Atheistic Satanist, member of the Satanic Temple. I have a membership card and everything lmao

characters can be close without it being romantic

clearly, you do not understand how shipping works :V

Today I learned a new word: metamour. And I now feel really sad about you being separated from your cats :raritydespair:

5381062
Most satanic religions are actually atheistic, meaning that the don't believe in any higher power/god. They instead view satan as a representation of an ideal.

Wow I didn't expect this many of y'all to care about this. Thanks for all the comments!

5381034
lmao that's better than what I was imagining for the deer god :rainbowlaugh: And you're right, I do crave the holding of hands, dirty sinner that I am :ajsleepy:

And tbh if someone had explained Satanism that way to me before I got into it, I would have found it pointless as well. Truth be told I wonder the same thing as you, if humans are just predisposed to spirituality, which would explain why being a Satanist is appealing to me as an atheist.

5381065
I think you mean how sippers work :duck:

5381069
Teaching people the word metamour has been a constant thing with me lmao, I'm always introducing people to the word. And yeah it sucks not having my kitties, but I appreciate your sentiment
