Yeah, most of them know and those who don't it just hasn't come up with. I don't tell most of them that I write fanfic though; only my mom and brother know that.

Me, a trendy fella? I'm shocked and appalled.
I've found that all my Southern friends are able to explain a lot of qualities about my voice with me being a Northerner. Particularly the range/tone. To them, it's nasally!
I may be a coffee guy, but this is some tea. (Also, girl, same!)
'Kay, now I need to see the art of your villain-self 'sona for verification purposes.
Alright, now I'm hella interested in how this works. So I've heard of agnostic atheists before (agnostics who bet their lot on atheism, really) but not an atheistic religion, and certainly not an organized one with members. Also quite curious if you have any myths about Satanism to dispel.
Bun's snatching the girlfriends up!
It's on my read it later for after catching up with White Whales Barbequing!

So basically, the best I can think of describing it is almost like going through the motions of religion while knowing it's not real just because that makes brain feel good. But there is a sorta "this just feels right" aspect to it too, that's not as easy to explain. I would call it spiritual. But like, without any belief in God, Satan, or any sort of (for want of a better phrase) supernatural elements. So there's knowing it doesn't mean anything, but still feeling like at least on a personal level, it does. Plus the Satanic Temple is kind of a political organization. The bigger more well-known sect of Satanism is the Church of Satan (that's Anton LaVey and the Satanic Bible and all that), and they don't really do anything. Their whole thing is often described as a religion of the self; being your own god, sorta. The Satanic Temple by contrast looks at the world around us and asks us to do what we can for it, not for higher reward, but because it's the right thing to do. Satanic Temple causes revolve a lot around religious freedom rights, separation of church and state, women's reproductive causes, and some other misc things here and there.
I suppose the biggest myth to dispel is that we don't worship Satan (we don't even believe he exists). Rather, we worship (if that's the right word) the idea of what Satan represents to us (which could be described as rationality basically; using science and best understanding of the world to form our opinions and judgements). The actual mascot of TST isn't even Satan, it's Baphomet. I describe it (and this is just me, not something taken from the actual TST information) as Satan is our God, Baphomet is our Jesus. Not in an actual "Baphomet is Satan's child" way, but like in a "the face of the Temple" way. Most of the myths kinda dispel themselves from there. We don't sacrifice things to a deity we don't even believe in, obviously. We don't cast spells or use magic (though I believe the Church of Satan does have some belief in magic).
We do have gatherings, (referred to as chapters) but meeting up at them isn't required or anything; most Satanists are probably just people who agree with our ideology and like the dark vibe (and many are probably rebelling against Christianity specifically, let's be honest). I identify it as a spiritual (and I use this word because it gives the right feeling, though I don't mean it literally) connection to me, but I don't know that that's true for other members.
You can read more about it at the Temple's website, if you're interested.
Oh, for others wanting to do this, grab the questions over here.
Huh, I wouldn't have guessed.
It's a word I use. But I also use Tvtropes, so...
The deer god won't help you now. Excuse me, but writing horse words is a perfectly respectable profession.
You don't have to hide it, we know you crave hand-holding.

I'd never be able to do that, it would just feel so pointless to me if I didn't actually believe in the deity in question. I can't say I understand all that well. I'm starting to think that humans are pre-disposed to have some kind of spiritual beliefs, no offense intended.
I do like whenever Satanists try to troll religious organizations. It's always fun.
What the heck is an Atheistic Satanist
#34 XD
clearly, you do not understand how shipping works :V
Today I learned a new word: metamour. And I now feel really sad about you being separated from your cats
5381062
Most satanic religions are actually atheistic, meaning that the don't believe in any higher power/god. They instead view satan as a representation of an ideal.

Hail Satan
Wow I didn't expect this many of y'all to care about this. Thanks for all the comments!
5381034
lmao that's better than what I was imagining for the deer god And you're right, I do crave the holding of hands, dirty sinner that I am
And tbh if someone had explained Satanism that way to me before I got into it, I would have found it pointless as well. Truth be told I wonder the same thing as you, if humans are just predisposed to spirituality, which would explain why being a Satanist is appealing to me as an atheist.
5381065
I think you mean how sippers work
5381069
Teaching people the word metamour has been a constant thing with me lmao, I'm always introducing people to the word. And yeah it sucks not having my kitties, but I appreciate your sentiment
