Me and my fiance were fans of the original game back in the day, and even with people saying how bad the new game was with what leaks showed...
We ignored the leaks.
We bought the game.
We regret ignoring the leaks after... Abby went to 'play' golf with Joel.
We further regretted getting stringed along on a revenge quest that didn't pay off in the end.
We hated the weak story and the plotholes that riddled it.
We hate the game and wish we never bought it.
Think I should go write a golf club related story now.

That's what I've heard from the people I trust and follow. While the game looks friggin' amazing, Gameplay has advanced little if at all in the past seven years. They also say the story is bad, not because of "SJW nonsense" like some are claiming, but because it's poorly told, overly dark and cynical, and treats established characters horribly
Hope you get your money back. My favorite part of all this is how the creators said if you didn’t like the game you’re a bigot. Yeah, that’s why I hate your shitty game. Because it has a lesbian couple and not because you brutally murdered a well beloved character for shitty shock value in front of his basically daughter.
I mean . . . Neil Druckmann, the creative director of The Last Of Us got the creative director for Uncharted (a woman) fired, so he could put more female characters into the 4th game, because "we need more strong (better than the protagonist) women in games", or some such. Maybe don't prioritize diversity of skin color and gender of virtual characters over the careers and livelihoods of real people. Also, maybe get that guy fired for being literal trash.
I'm disappointed in how all this has gone, because a good game is always great for everyone, even if it's not something everyone likes, or can get.

In regards to "SJW nonsense", there's several of them that aren't subtle.
Like Ellie's girlfriend. The ugly lesbian from the reveal trailer and main game that are looking at each with romantic smiles with bad Wedon-esq dialogue about how they both smell like shit. I thought she was pretty ugly, especially that big honking nose of hers that takes up much of her face. There's a reason. She's an actual Jew in-game. Nice stereotyping guys. It's not even subtle because she actually points she's a Jew and makes out of place holocaust references now and again.
Speaking of Jews, you can also go to a Synagogue in game. You can shoot a lot of things in the game, but once you enter that Synagogue, you can't shoot the various Jewish iconography at all. The thing is, it doesn't give a good in-world reason why. "Ellie is too respectful of her GF's heritage", but you should allow player agency. This seems too much like a protectionist thing for a religion and is as dumb as the Immortal Children in Bethesda games. I should also point out that even Jews in my city don't have Synagogues like this, much less opulent ones. They're a super small minority in the United States. Like roughly 5 million in a country of nearly 400 million now, but even those numbers are very questionable. Most of them are the "I'm just Jewish for the privilege\power of it or by heritage" types and aren't religious either.
There's also a trans rights flag in the game... And to remind, the zombie apocalypse took place in 2013 and the game takes place roughly 20 years later? You could argue that it was close enough that "trans rights" was starting to come about, but gay marriage was still contested among half the states until 2015 when the Supreme Court decided to overstep their authority and legislate it legal throughout the country from their bench. (And be honest, many people here would applaud overruling communities and states that are more conservative or don't want West Coast insanity, but you wouldn't push the pride parades or gay marriages in Islamic communities either. Hypocrites.) With modern politics and Druckmann's ego, the pride flag here feels more like lipservice than actual in-world storytelling.
Did I also mention how many women there are in the game that look and act more like androgynous men? It's kind of a common theme in the modern gaming industry to push this type of Female Supremacy where women are made less feminine and gain all the power and attitudes of masculine men. I'm not the only one that see's this.

No, really. Ask yourself this. "Would the characters of Abbey and Ellie make more sense... if both of them were full biological males?"
There's also the fact that there's a trans character too... who plays as the psychotic villain. Why trans? No idea really. (He\shi\it\whatever won't get any drugs or free surgeries in the apocalypse.) It doesn't seemed to be explained upon, but I can tell you the reason why women are getting uglier and more transgender tokens are are being "represented". Neil Druckmann, my god... What a piece of work that man is. There's so many rumors of behind-the-scenes drama from him, I can only bulletpoint stuff I've heard.
Jesus, I could go on for a while longer, but this should clue people in the studio director is undeniably insane.
I firmly believe the "our servers were hacked" is a total lie now and the leaks were from disgruntled employees that hated working there from the 60-80+ hour work weeks and possibly Druckmann's ego.

I just want to post this... This is quite possibly the best "Revenge" arc I've seen in a game. It was another console exclusive game from a decade ago and has its entire arc happen within 20 minutes.
You know what was the most powerful thing for me here? I was heavily emotionally invested in John Marston and was wondering why I "finished" the game that it was still going on with him and Jack.
Then the betrayal by the U.S. Marshal attacking John's homestead and eventual execution. I killed most of those officers, but I was shocked when I was gunned down.
After that, I was fucking pissed.
So playing as Jack, I went on a personal revenge rampage. Anybody I talked to that was related to that Marshal that offed John, I blew their heads off with shotguns and pistol rounds.
It got to the point where during the noon time, I went to that cabin by the lake with the Marshal's wife there. After speaking to her, she got 2 pistol bullets in the womb. She ragdolled perfectly and getting on my horse, I looked back towards the cabin and paused. All I could see were the woman's legs peaking out from the dark doorway into the cabin with a pool of blood dripping down onto the porch. That made me stop.
"Am I the villain? Am I the monster?"
That. Was the moment of clarity for that epilogue to the game. I was the bad guy, but I was already in pretty deep shit anyway. Just like John. Well. Time to ride to hell.
Went down to the river where the retired Marshal was. I was committed then. So I used all my Dead Eye and put bullets into every part of him. Legs, his balls, belly, chest, several to his face, and he collapsed into the river. Probably to be eaten by wolves or vultures down river. It was both cathartic as all hell... and it left me feeling dirty.
I loved that game.

Even without all of that, I was already vastly disappointed in people like Druckmann. They claim to want diversity, but it's always racial/ethnic or gender, never diversity of thought.
They claim to be trying to respect and represent characters, but then we get trans characters like Hainly in Andromeda, who basically says "Hey, I was a guy until I took a pair of scissors to my dick to make a paper mache vagina!", instead of a character with nuance who deals with dysphoria like, you know, I, or my partner, or my best friend, or her boyfriend do.
They say they want to represent women, and then they write trash characters, terrible plots, and ruin what people loved in the first place.
And then they turn around and tell you that you're subhuman and a racist/misogynist/transphobic/etc if you dislike their sorry excuse for a game.
Guess what, game devs;

I wouldn't have known you were trans either unless I looked at your profile. I'll be honest, I kinda hate you trans people. Not because your existence offends me or offends Jesus or whatever, but because of many other things. It mainly has to do with perpetually offended activists and clout chasers with severe narcissistic personality disorder brow beating the fuck out of people and wanting special privileges. People like Druck are a part of that group and are the reason why hatred for non-hetero people have been going up over the past few years.
He writes this awful, evil character, but make it well known they're trans for.. reasons. Because trangender people from what I understand are a super small minority and most likely wouldn't be represented at all in a post-apocalypse setting. Society would regress to a more tribal\patriarchal type like we humans were doing for hundreds of thousands of years, but here we have young women doing combat and her rival is man trying to be a woman (I think). Even that would have been a much more interesting side plot-hook to explore. The need for stability of going back to a earlier time where women stayed at home to make babies while men sacrificed themselves for the good of their community, versus individual freedom from that biological imperative. But no, Druck wants these badly written characters to go at it so he can make a hollow "an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind" spiel with token representation and an obsession of wanting a full female cast.
I haven't heard a good reason why Abbey would be in this game other than this stupid morality take.
Druck, similar game devs, and entertainers are part of this problem. I'm with you on being pissed off at this shitty written game for the same reasons.

The story itself would've been fine if they still had the original story writer on board. I can see it taking a whole different turn.
The fact that Ellie at the end didn't even take revenge on Abby, the horrible thing that you're supposed to "sympathize" with Abby while playing as her... (him?) and the fact that Joel is killed in cold blood because he killed one the doctors that was trying to kill Ellie back in the first game, and the fact that they straight up murdered him for no reason other than that, makes me believe that this game story was meant to go in another direction. If someone killed my father figure/actual father I'd be going on a fucking warpath, apocalypse be damned. There is no """"sympathizing"""" with monsters, you are meant to kill Monsters.

1) It's not a mental illness. Things that are mental illnesses are things like pedophilia. Dysphoria, the thing that differentiates trans people from cis people, is the feeling of being trapped within yourself because of a difference in your assigned gender (what you're born as) and your affirmed gender (what you are/how you identify). That's not a mental illness.
2) Transtrenders are not the trans people trying to be the face of transgender people as a whole, they're the ones who don't understand you need dysphoria to be trans, and treat it as a chance to dress up and mock something they could never hope to understand for attention.

So which is it, do you really have this mental delusional disorder or do you just like crossdressing and want to take on elements of the opposite sex? Pedophilia isn't anything like homosexuality. One is attraction, the other is a mental illness. And dysphoria isn't an illness, it's a disorder. Just like Autism Spectrum Disorder, it's only a problem when people refuse to accept you as a person for it, and when people try to treat you as less than human for it.
Mental illnesses are bad, flat out. Mental disorders are only bad when stigmatized and used as a basis for dehumanizing.

A mental illness needs to be fixed. A mental disorder is something you need to understand and accept.
Going to be machine dissecting this in my head, because these two definitions need to be asserted first.

Okay, I can see some things now.
Both of these are fundamental mental problems. One needs to be fixes, the other left alone.
Okay, from my perspective mental issues can't be fixed, not easily at least. But the ones that do need to be "fixed" would be on the orders of doing harm to one's self or to others, right?
So, homosexuality is abnormal. It's not a normal thing when the biological imperative is to mate with something.. that can't produce offspring. However, while it might be a symptom of other underlying mental problems, it's not necessarily hurting anyone except for a lack of a love life with a very very small pool of lovers. Perhaps the constant string of lovers many homosexuals have that lead to spreading many STD's is potential to call homosexuality an illness, but homosexuality isn't directly lead that either. So there is plenty of situational "what if's" attached to homosexuality and it is a type of attraction, but it can be called a disorder.
Pedophilia is similar at first, but different. It's also an abnormal attraction to something that can't produce offspring... not viably at most. It comes with the need to be sexual with someone that isn't sexually mature to appreciate or understand what is happening to them and can't make viable children. Pedophilia usually has a host of mental health problems associated with it too. It however can't be really "fixed" since sexual attraction is also an innate part of mental biology. You can't switch off your sexual nature without radically altering your hormones, sex organs, and\or brain. So it's something that can't really be "fixed", but comes with a desire to harm as part of it. Unfortunate it can't be changed, but it is a mental illness with its desire to harm another creature.
Transgenderism... I want to go back and re-examine this.
So, you were born as one thing. But later you felt like you're trapped in some kind of shell where your body isn't your own, and you think you know what you really are supposed to be. Usually the opposite of what you were born as. Okay, I would classify this as an disorder at first, but I want to go back and notice. Dysphoria by its definition means it's stressors for its victim. It causes personal harm and anguish for its host. And I do know the 40% statistics on transgenders in general.
So if it's not dressing up, taking on the aspects, or attitudes of the opposite gender, how much does this dysphoria cause personal pain to its host? So, how much mental anguish do you and a lot of trans folk have? Not from other people, bullying's a different thing. Because if it's enough to cause that 40% self-harm statistic, it would be called a mental illness that has to be treated before any self-harm would ensue.
So I think I've come up with an accurate list based upon these ideas.

I also want to point out a bit of linguistic trickery that didn't get to me till just now.
This implies that people in general don't accept or understand mental disorders or illnesses. People can understand mental issues just fine, the problem is that people should be free not to accept mental disorder's.
For example, things like suicide should be looked at in order to help people, sure. People that eat their own turd's out of the toilet, "Fuck no, I'm not going to understand or accept that. You're getting locked into the psych ward of the nearest hospital."
Like, there has to be a limit on what people can accept, otherwise you're forcefully coercing people into accepting something they not only don't believe in, but can be detrimental to their way of life.
You're not going to make people accept you by force or by coercion. We're human beings and many people have belief systems incredibly different from each other. So I think in order for you and trans people in general to get less stigmatized overall and to not run into that problem. Admit it's a mental issue, more of an illness, and it's being treated with therapy to try to make being in your body shouldn't be an issue. It also makes you more sympathetic to others that it's not something you totally have control over.
I'm not trying to accuse you of anything, but that sentence there seemed very odd to me just now.
