    Does anyone know this story?

Okay... I regret that I don't have much in the way of updates on existing stories. I assure you that I have been working on 14th C, Homecoming, and The New Blood, but my inspiration has been... fickle.

I'm going back through some stories I remember liking on this site so as to put some fuel on the creative fire and get my brain back onto the right train of thought.

Stories I Never Started, Won’t Start, Wish I Could Start

I barely have time to work on the stories I’m currently plugging away at. (“WE KNOW!” comes the shout of the Angry Mob). Worse, even when I do have time I’m often so mentally exhausted that I don’t want to write.

    You, YOU SPECIFICALLY, Matter

Coming up on May, which I am told is suicide prevention month, it’s been on my heart to talk about why you, you specifically, matter.

    The New Blood, Haitus Ends

After months of not publishing anything in any story, The New Blood wasn't the story I expected to come back with, but it's the one I managed to finish. Not that I haven't worked on A 14th Century Friar or Homecoming (I have), but New Blood for whatever reason called me back to the frontline.

Don't Hate Russians for Their Government's Actions

The title of this blog post really says it all, but I'll say it again once more for the people in the back:

"Don't hate Russians for the actions of their government."

Who Would Read "A 14th Century Podcast?" · 7:36am Feb 1st, 2020

Random idea occurred to me recently, as I've been on something of a podcast kick (mostly "Jocko" Willink, the former Navy SEAL, in case you're curious). From watching these podcasts, I got this strange idea of having something to the effect of "A 14th Century Podcast," with Friar Jacques and Antiquarian (the character of me, not... me me... possibly an EqG version, I haven't decided) as the hosts. There would be periodic guest stars on certain episodes, including characters from the show but possibly expanding to draw on OCs (maybe not all of them mine? Though that kind of scares me).

Discussions would range from macro topics like history and culture to more micro topics like self-discipline and life lessons. It'd be a mix of humor and serious. Tentative ideas thus far:

  1. How people misread history (e.g. taking what's meant to be poetic as literal in much of Middle Eastern history, which always throws things) and how to change it
  2. Techniques of self-mastery and discipline
  3. Keys to happy living
  4. A discussion of originality in film and television (which I'm sure won't anger anyone)
  5. The challenges of handling war and morality in fiction (and, by extension, a look at the challenges of the real deal)

Maybe it would be part of A 14th Century Supplement, maybe it's own story. Pros and cons to both.

This idea is very much in its infancy (and honestly, I might just make regular blog posts and not mess around with characters), but while I play around with it I just wanted to read the room and ask if anyone would actually be interested in reading this content. No point in spending time on it if no one is interested (and, if it was just a couple people, I probably would be better spending the time writing a different story).

Honest answers. Don't worry about hurting my feelings (well, don't be jerks about it, but... yeah. Be honest).

Sure, I'd read that. Always a pleasure to hear about a topic from someone who really understands it.

Oh, for a second I thought you were going to record this. I'd definitely read it, but I don't really have a good opportunity to listen to podcasts.

I’d listen to that podcast. I’d read the supplement. Hell, if you record and need a voice I’m down for recording lines every once in a while. “14th Century [...]” is one of my favorite fics on this site.

I'd listen to it.

Hell, I might crash it in the comments. Haven't done some meta shenanigans in a while...

I'd definitely read it.

I'd read the f:yay:k out of it. Listen, even, if you were to record it.

Honestly, I kind of like the idea of it being an "actual" podcast, rather than just written words.

If you did that and needed voices, the Audio Project would likely be happy to do it (I don't think any of us could do a convincing "elderly Frenchman," though). So would numerous others.

I’d read it! And, as others have said ,I’d even listen to an audio version! I would love to contribute my voice to it, as well, in that event, buuuut I have zero knowledge or experience in that field. >.< That said, definitely, I’d be interested!

I listen to a great quantity of political podcasts, I'd listen to something more history-based in a second. I absolutely greenlight an audio podcast.

I’d read that. Couldn’t listen, but reading, that’d be fun.

Sure, I'd read it. :pinkiehappy:

Why write it, when you can record it? I would love to hear it as an actual podcast.

I'm game, and I'd even be willing to volunteer for some voice work or if you wanted some artwork for the project.

I would definitely read this. At first I was afraid you were going to record it (I'm very bad at making time to listen to podcasts and the like), but it sounds horribly interesting to me.

It would be fascinating to hear Jacques's view (and by extension your own) on these topics. I'm sure that it will be an entertaining and enlightening experience.

Okay, we need to have a chat about artwork. Because that sounds intriguing. PM me when you get a chance. I have a busy few days, so I may not reply immediately, but I want to explore that option. Thank you for the offer.
