    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    TEvergreen Falls

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all having a good day. Personally, I've been kind of down. Sure, my life has been improving in some very important ways recently, but I've encountered a personal problem which has been really bad over the last few weeks. Fortunately, there's a fairly easy solution, and you can help if you like.

I don't need money or anything. Those days are fortunately behind me. Instead, I need something less tangible. I need to feel like I contribute to society an equal or greater amount than society gives me. I think everyone needs to feel like that, and I imagine most everyone has things they do which helps them feel that way. Most commonly, jobs.

Sure, you may work at a crappy retail place, but at least you're doing something that helps civilization run in some small way. Me? Well... I tell stories. This is what I do to achieve the feeling that I do something society values and therefore I am not a waste of life. Not to get edgy or misanthropic. This is really all I have, and I'm unlikely to find other means of gathering a seance of self-worth, given my age, condition, and the general state of things.

To make a long story short: Very few people are commenting on my current story, and those comments are how I know that people are enjoying my work, and I get my 'ability to be happy' from maintaining a certain level of people who enjoy my work.

With that said, I have a request. Would you please consider reading this story?

TFallout Equestria: Operation Star Drop
Fourteen years have passed since Pip’s journey ended. A young mare from a northern land is sent to make contact with the Wasteland's new nations, and walks directly into an ancient MoA Operation...

Yes. I know. Many feel that Fallout Equestria stories have been done to death. I agree that there are a lot of them! But, in my opinion, I have something original here that you may enjoy reading. Even if you haven't read the original story.

Allow me to address a few reasons you may not already be reading this fic.

  1. FOE has been done to death - Yes. There are 2.7k stories in the FOE fics group. Howeaver, only 107 of those have been completed, and most all of them are in fact quite short. Only 11 are both completed and of a similar length to the original story. Of those, only one is entirely set in the era I want to explore. A decade after the end of Fallout Equestria.
  2. FOE is too grimdark for me - If you mean the original story by kkat, fair enough. If you mean Project Horizons... That's not canon, and I am not involving it in this story. Why not? Because it's significantly darker than the original. It's not "on tone". Hell, it's darker than Fallout in many places. Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just I want to write something in line with the original's themes, tone, and spirit.
  3. I dont' want to have to read a bunch of stuff to read a new story - I'm only using one story for this. Fallout Equestria. Nothing else is involved. Technically, you don't have to even read that. I mean, it would help you understand some stuff, but all you really need to understand is "Equestria had an industrial boom, they went to war with Zebrica over coal (and religious reasons on the Zebra side), 50ish years later the old world ended in balefire. 2 centuries later, Ponkykind is starting to recover thanks to a kick in the pants from a mare named Littlepip, who managed to bring some of Equestria's old moral values back to a wartorn world." Hell, you don't even need to have played any of the Fallout games. This is one of those "merge the settings" crossovers, not a "lets adapt this story!" crossovers.

What about reasons too read this fic? I've got a few of those...

  1. At the end of FOE, a very important pony wonders what will happen in the future when they have to import their fuel form other lands. This question is not only unanswered in the epilogue, but is pretty much a writing prompt. I am following that prompt.
  2. Xenith confirmed that the Star Blaster was from "the stars". It came from space. Zebra magic can tell things are not from their world. The story does nothing with this. I am.
  3. kkat wrote FOE way back in 2011. Before there was a Crystal Empire, or changelings, or Cadence, or... Well... You know, anything beyond episode 11 of season 2. There's some MLP lore to work into the setting, and I love to do worldbuilding!
  4. SPOILER: Woah, what, what?! Celestia's able to do magic and stuff while her soul/consciousness is bound to the SPP's mainframe?! Then she's alive, yes? WHY IS NOPONY TALKING ABOUT THIS?! The story we read is an in universe story and book. Pip broadcast everything we read to the wasteland via radio. They know that motherbucking Celestia is not 100% dead and can bucking talk to you! Talk to you, while being forced to watch EVERYTHING that has EVER happend in the ENTIRE wasteland! They also know that there's an indestructible book that tells you how to move souls from one thing to another thing. Are they just going to leave the poor mare trapped in there forever? Apparently the NCR has no plans to rescue her. That's just cruel! What do you have to say about this, Prince Silverlight of Los Pegasus? "It's beyond reprehensible! If only Pip had mentioned where Spike's cave is, then I'd do something about it! Faster than I already am, that is."
  5. SPOILER: Excuse me, Pip but did you just end an entire civilization's way of life? "Well, yeah... But the Enclave had to be beaten. There wasn't another way." Granted, but you um... you just let them kind of go. "No? We put their leaders in jail." Yeah. But, like, while a lot of them differently lost faith in the Enclave after learning they were tricked, there are always zealots. You also didn't imprison their entire military, did you? "Well, no, but--" You do realize there are hundreds if not thousands of pegasi who still agree with the Encalve's philosophy running around out there, who you let keep their weapons, right? There's also a second pre-war military founded faction you pissed off, the Steel Rangers. Ever hear that old saying 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'? "Luna shitting moon rocks! I bucked up!" Yep... The story ain't over.
  6. SPOILER: So, the most adorable character in the story is forced to watch her marefriend wither away in a pod for the rest of her life. Un. Bucking. ACCEPTABLE! Homage grew up in the wasteland, she's an adventurer! She'd take the first chance to fix that problem and fix it good! You know, or die horribly trying... Homage, have a chance! "What the hay? How did you just hand me a logical concept?" Uh, you have Wild Wasteland? "You don't!" Yes, but I'm an author. "Oh, right! Heh."
  7. SPOILER: kkat didn't base a character of Frank Horrigan. I have.
  8. Fallout Equestria has no batponies! Make the Wasteland EEEEEEE! Again!

There's also a more personal reason you might want to read this one. Yes, it took me years to start writing this story. Yes, I stopped writing a fairly popular story then moved to this ( I am sorry. That was for my own mental health... v.v DttS was exacting quite the toll from me. Writing a story which is one long series of Shark Jumps was a bad idea! ). I started writing ponyfics to get back into "shape" to do this story.

I was really good at writing in college. You can find some of my work in collage's magazines. I didn't put them there. One of my professors did. But... due to events in my life that destroyed old me emotionally, I gave up writing.

This is my thank you to kkat. Long ago, back in the early part of this decade, I was suicidal. I tried to kill myself twice. What let me see that life was worth living? Fallout Equestria. The story resonated with me. Pip's journey and discovery, the lesson that finding purpose and meaning in life is a journey not an epiphany or thing you should always have was a lesson I needed to learn, badly.

I feel that I am back in form now, and after failing with DttS, I wanted to do something personal. Something I wouldn't alter for fan service. Something I had a proper plan for. This is all I could think to do. It's time. it's time to write a story which hopefully one day kkat might read and enjoy as much as I enjoyed her story.

Or, in other words, I'm going all out here and I have my professional hat on. Maybe it wont be as good as I want it to be, but dammit, this will be the first story I put my all into! Surly that's worth seeing if you're a fan of my work.

I hope to see you in the comments,
Meep

Fear not; I am Alpharius.

Wow. So these are your reasons for writing this story, cool!

No really people, go read it, its damn entertaining, and I rarely have such large chapters go by seemingly FAST

Well sod it all, I knew I was forgetting something, How did I forget you were doing this?

Dangit

Thanks for reminding me, now I know what I'll be doing today, yes?

I'll read it further tonight at work. Graveyard shift.

I read your stories because they are good and you're a good writer. I usually don't comment because I tend to have a hard time expressing myself. In the future, I'll do my best to comment more.

Also, DON'T EVER DOUBT YOUR ROLE IN SOCIETY AS A WRITER!!!!

You provide entertainment and relaxation to your readers. That's just as important a contribution as the workers. Without you, and people like you, there would be a whole lot more problems in the world.

I will give it a shot while I continue to support you via Patreon I automatically gave this story a PASS.. I didn't say yea or nea to the story because I while its not to MY tastes that is just my taste and 'm sure it will appeal to others

To be honest i favoriteded this story when you cirst relased it but i havent really read it yet.... I have read a LOT of FoE fics, like a whole lot. Seriously ive read at least 100 of them and i almost always go for long fics. But recently with me making up my own fallout tabletop campaign and the fact most of what i read never got a conclusion im feeling a bit burnt out on Fallout stuff. Bethesda has also really not helped ive never in my life activly hated a video game as much as 76 and the people who thought the game was worth publishing i swear unless they use a new game engine im never giving bethesda any of my money ever again

I will around to enjoying your story, eventually i promise. But itll probably be when its concluded.

And there was 1 bat pony. Although really it was before bat ponys were bat ponies.

Oh i have every intention of reading this very soon :pinkiecrazy:

I’ll probably read this, but as I’ve seen too many good FOE stories die midway, I’ve begun waiting for the chapter count to get up there

Fallout Equestria has no batponies! Make the Wasteland EEEEEEE! Again!

I mean, come on bronies, it's worth reading for this alone!!

Also, stupid-sexy cyborg zebras...

Your story sounds amazing and I can't wait to get around to actually reading it! ...As soon as college stops trying to murder me through weaponised stress in the form of non-stop, rapid-fire assignments.

I've been missing out on Fimfic as a whole for the past few months now and I'm starting to worry about pony-withdrawl :rainbowwild:

5015829 I am glad you are here, Brother!

5015833 Thanks. I dont often go into behidn the scenes on a story, I prefer they stand on their own, but... Yeah, when a chapter is up for 22 hours and has 3 comments on it and 22 views, and that's 73% below my normal reader engagement level, I feel like I've done something wrong soo... Yeah!

5015857 5015833 Thanks guys! I realy do appreciate it. Also, Lunar Court members, unite! At like, 4 am. To complain about gov offices being closed an hour after we wake up.

5015859 Thank you very much. It may not seem like it but I do need to hear that. If you have a hard time expressing yourself, a simple thank you in the comments on occasion, even if just the words "thank you" is more than enough for me. All I want is something more human than a number that goes up sometimes. Also,

You provide entertainment and relaxation to your readers. That's just as important a contribution as the workers. Without you, and people like you, there would be a whole lot more problems in the world.

that actualy made my whole week a lot brighter. Thank you.

5015907

To be honest i favoriteded this story when you cirst relased it but i havent really read it yet.... I have read a LOT of FoE fics, like a whole lot.

That's fair :3 I cant fault people for getting burnt out on genera and sub-genera. Sadly, not everyone is autistic (Oh the glory fiction woudl achieve if we were...)

Bethesda has also really not helped ive never in my life activly hated a video game as much as 76 and the people who thought the game was worth publishing i swear unless they use a new game engine im never giving bethesda any of my money ever again

That's another reason I am writing this. I'm tired of companies owning what I love. We can make better stuff than they can so we should! This is how I'm helping with that :3

I will around to enjoying your story, eventually i promise. But itll probably be when its concluded.

That's fair :3 No hard feelings at all! I 100% understand wanting the whole story to read at once.

And there was 1 bat pony. Although really it was before bat ponys were bat ponies.

I don't remember any o.0 Which chapter is that?

5016054 That's fair! I can't blame you for that at all. ~60% of these do die.

5016127

I mean, come on bronies, it's worth reading for this alone!!

There's about ten chapter to go... But there's a stable of nothing but batpones (Luna used it as a barrax/personal shelter).

5016152 I've been wondering where you've been! Miss you, and good luck with your schooling. Feel free to ask me for help if you need it. I have a Humanities Masters so I know a little bit of everything :3

5016282
1) Aw, ok.
2) Your welcome! There's a Lunar court? What is this about gov offices being closed?

5016284 As somone who is usually nocturnal, getting to any government office, including the post office and DMV is very very hard and usually requires disrupting my sleep cycle because everything opens after I go to bed and closes before I get up! Given how many people work nights these days you'd think federal and state offices/services woudl be 24 hour...

5016290
Yeah, you would think that. But that isn't reality in some places in the world, which sucks.

5016282
remember Lion and mouse? The ghoul guard of princess Luna and the dragon turned mouse? The ghoul guard was a bat pony, but this fic was finished before bat ponies really caught on

5016282
You are welcomed. I'm glad I could brighten your week.

5016299 That's right he was! Well, that just means best pones are cannon :D

5016282
Thanks for the offer, but I think I've dragged enough people into helping with my engineering diploma at this point.

But beyond that, I didn't know I'd made that much of an impression that you'd notice me missing. It makes for an interesting feeling, thank you.

5016870 I remember the names of everyone who comments more than 3-4 times :3 Commenters matter quite a bit.

*Telepathically sends hugs in your general direction.*
Warning: Due to margin of error, hugs may travel as much as 180 degrees from your actual direction since the Internet is anonymous if you don't tell people where you live. Also, telepathy is unproven, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Dammit. I was going to read that story, but I got sidetracked again. I have this sudden joy of reading Worm crackfics, and my list of stories to read kinda exploded :facehoof:. Please accept my apologies. (It may still take me a bit, since I have an exam soon)

5016882
Well now I feel even worse for not reading :rainbowwild:

5016947 Hey, no worries. People get busy. I dont have any link to college anymore so I kind of dont really know when people might simply be busy. Knowing there's a reason that isn't "I think you suck now" for someone not reading is more than enough for me.

Also, isn't it common knowledge that I'm in Fairbanks, Alaska?

5016957 :c sorry!

5017021
Now it is. I didn't know, though.

It's kinda cool that you are able to write the story you've always wanted to, though.

5017021
Don't be, I can handle some mild self loathing 😜

Edit:
PS: I think I've been using Discord too much, 'cause now that emoji is the only way I can express playfulness/teasing tone.

5017192 Lol, I've been doing that since IRC was "the thing to use" :P

Hi Meep. I've been pretty busy lately. Sorry for not dropping a comment or two for a while. Between work, trying to get back in shape, and MMORPGs with my brother I've been slacking on mah reading. I'll try to get to your story either later today or sometime this weekend so expect words in the form of comments.

5021226 Oof! So long as it dosnt' feel like work :c

Error #9
How is the sun moving? Did Celestial lie about her powers? Or does the SPP have the ability to take control away from Celestia? Hmm.....

5095966 The original story suggested the sun moves without her, but at a random speed that changes every so often. I made sure to emphasize that in my story so it seems like the sun still moves, it's just out of control.

5096095 Assuming a geo-centric system (which is has to be if we take cannon into consideration), the fact that the sun can slow down, and that gravity still exists in their world, is terrifying ><
