A Brief Pause · 2:46am Jan 22nd, 2019
Hi, guys! First:
Look at this art! Isn't it great! Thank you to Spinoffjoe for making it! More stuffs after the break!
I'm glad you're all enjoying Vol. III so far. Last chapter started two of the central arcs for this volume, with one more still to be shown, so stay tuned for that.
My good friend, Novel Idea recently went back and re-read Long Road to Friendship giving me a nice play-by-play commentary of the whole story (which I always love). But as he did, little things jumped out at me that I realize I had forgotten or let fall to the wayside. Nothing major just small things, like character tics or background details or just the way I would write things.
It made me realize that, while Spectacular Seven is more mature and very much a magical girl-isque adventure rather than an introspective slice-of-life, it shares a lot of things with Long Road to Friendship, things I don't want to lose even as the story progresses.
So, I'm going to take a brief pause writing SS so I can go back and read LRtF. It's like seeing where you've been to know where you're going. I want to make sure I stay consistent, the characters evolve while still staying true to themselves, and the story still retains much of its old spirit.
With that and Kingdom Hearts 3 releasing next week (HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE!), y'all probably won't be getting a new chapter until late February at the earliest. Chapter 5 is done, but it doesn't sit well with me as is.
But, I'll hopefully be releasing a new chapter of The Maker's Reject before next Tuesday. I will then be AFK until I'm done with KH3 (THE HYPE IS REAL!).
So, just wanted to keep you all in the loop. I'm committed to giving you guys the best story I can give, so I'm going back to the beginning! Can't wait to cringe!
Take care, all!
(Oh yeah, I have 2000+ followers! Neat!)
Oh don't worry, I totally understand the KH3 hype. I'm dropping everything I'm doing once my copy comes. The only exception is that I'm gonna have to put it down to do a Shattered Throne run in Destiny 2 cus launch week is Week 3 of the curse.
The artwork is awesome, as well. I love how Sunset's wings are multicolored like her hair rather than only matching her coat color.
I know exactly what you mean about going back. Being in the midst of writing Featherfall which is over 300k words now, I continually read and reread it over and over again so I can make sure I keep all the details and plot lines straight, in addition to keeping the world and the character personalities consistent.
Long Road is one of my favorite stories in this site, and I still have it saved as an ebook that I reread evry so often. I think it’s part of writing something as huge as that that going back and looking over old work is important.
Going back to reread your work to date is always a good idea, especially with a work so long and historied. Also, new game hype is always a great thing. I need to get back to Persona 5 ASAP and finish it (I haven't touched it in two weeks, been busy writing and reading) so I can do my Spidey DLC firstplay/main game replay and then actually play KH1.5+2.5 (I never finished KH1 @_@). I won't be getting KH3 until either very late this year or next year, myself.
TOO! MUCH! BACKLOG!!
So yeah, I totally understand where you're at, mind-wise. ^_^
Happy to provide my own then,
1) I JUST REALIZED THAT THE TOP HALF OF THE ARTWORK IS SUNSET OF TIME, THE ALICORN SUNSET HAS THE REGELIA, AND NORMAL SUNSET HAS THE HOURGLASS, IT MAKES THE ARTWORK TEN TIMES COOLER! I LOVE IT!
2) Also, LRtF is amazing! I think I'll have to do my first reread of the year! (And 6th time reading overall. I read that thing 5 times last year!) I know I'll enjoy it!
Kingdom Hearts 3 is always a good reason to procrastinate, because honestly same. Thanks for the heads up, you could have easily said nothing for a month and your fans probably wouldn't have made all that much a fuss (they're honestly some of the nicest on this website).
I wanted to know, does the new cover of Spectacular Seven holds anything about the story, or isn't related at all?
I mean, the only obvious detail in the picture that could have a matter at any time in the story is Twilight's magic spectrometer, which she's holding, and we all know what that thing can lead up to.
But then, if you planned to use that picture, probably because you're intending to introduce her device, and then, Midnight, maybe?
Or because it's beautiful art, and as a whole it is enough and worth to be the cover of your story.
Of course I'm not expecting such answer that would reveal too much, take this just as a simple assumption, not really a question ;)
Thanks and have good days.

While it's a beautiful cover, it's hopefully just a place holder until I can commission something a bit more original for the story.

Already an artist you're fond of in mind?
Great cover art and take your time because I still got to catch up on all of this plus school.
Btw I noticed toward the end of LRtF, when Sunset explains her curse to Twilight, she mentions how the part of her curse where she couldn’t talk to Twilight because Twilight asked her not to had probably just faded away. However, I’m pretty sure Rarity tells Sunset to, “please talk to Twilight” or something like that, and that’s how it got taken down.
I didn’t say anything before, but now I feel I should just because you called attention to it, unless this is just way to nit-picky.
Understandable, Kingdom Hearts III is the big one and the series is responsible for so much good in my life. Without it, I literally would never have met my girlfriend. It's going to be amazing and the final week is going to be agonizing.
And LRtF is an amazing read, so much so I am glad to own the book version. I hope we get the same treatment for SS one day. I wish you the best as you reread it and find inspiration. I love your stories and can't wait to see what else you have in store.
Woo Vesper Radiance and the
Deathly HallowsDark Regalia in all her gloryI REGRET NOTHING.

Nor should you.
I admit I keep rereading LRtF in between every volume so I can see how Sunset has developed and changed, so it'll be interesting to know your thoughts and how this will affect future chapters of SS! Have fun!
As much as it pains me to have to wait, I fully understand why. LRtF was an absolutely incredible story, and SS lived up to the rep of the first, even surpassing it with it's more sinister tones and mature themes. So please, take your time with Volume III as even when I've finished what's there, both are well worth a re-read.
I've read LRtF and SS in a total of 12 days, so it kind of sucks so see that the story is where it is (not having any new chapters in a WHILE), but it's better than a complete story with nothing to look forward to. Also FIVE VOLUMES?! I nearly screamed when I saw that on your last blog post
