Child of the Tree: Unfolding Events and the War Alicorn Question · 4:53am Sep 25th, 2018
Greetings Everypony!
I wanted to put a little something out for you guys so you know where we're headed so you guys have something to look forward to and then ask you that dreaded question.
So, as we go, our first big event in the timeline will be recovering Discord followed closely by the introduction of our main villain for this story. Twily will work at fitting in while going on small quests to retrieve the Pillars totems so that she can eventually reunite with the rest of her family, this will be the bulk of the story. I have some fun bits pre-planned; Twily and Discord ripping apart Equestrian Hitler (in a fun way, promise 
), Twily and Chrissy destroy the Grand Galloping Gala, Twily sticking it to the nobles, and lots of other fun stuff that will interspace the story. Then we will have the showdown with the final villain which will require a LOT of alicorn power.
That is where this question comes in...
Since I've made Twily OP in this, we have to have an equally, or more, OP main bad guy. The character I have planned for that will take all four princesses and Discord for the final showdown I'm imagining. Now, while I can do this with just the Princesses and Discord, Harmony is about balance and I will be making a bit of a big deal about it here in a couple chapters. That in mind, we have Harmony and Chaos (Twiliy and Discord), Day and Night (Celestia and Luna), and then Cadence and...her mirror? 
Come on people, we all know that saying, 'Alls fair in Love and War'.
The Alicorn of Love and the Alicorn of War, who would have thunk? And, of course, Cadence has an oh so convenient hunky stallion who was trained by a Goddess in the arts of combat who could complete her little saying easily. I always thought that Shiny was underappreciated. Wouldn't he look nice with a pair of white wings? Doesn't Cadence deserve nice things? Like a future hubby who can keep up with her alicorn stamina?

In all seriousness though, I will leave this one up to you guys once again. I can see reasoning within my story to do it but I also understand everyone's apprehension when author's start handing out wings with every happy meal (Larson!! 
). Though I haven't seen a lot of Alicorn Shiny so..... Bottom line, I can make it work without it but it would be a fun aspect to explore in the future; yet something I would need to start planning for and weaving into the narrative if you guys do want it. So, I will let you all decide yay or neigh on this one too.

P.S. Feel free to send me some story recs of Alicorn Shiny if you have any. I've not really seen any besides one little one shot that he was only mentioned in.

Alicorn Shinny sounds good to me. Twilight Velvet and Night Lights children are both worthy.

The opposite of choas is order, harmony means balance but I like the idea of opposites coming together to make a whole and fight with that. It would also mean luna and tia having to have a heart to heart
I don't think I've seen ANY Shiny alicorn fics. I'd totally be down for that.

Exactly, but could we truly have an alicorn of order? Magic is chaotic by nature and even Earth ponies have it in this world. Alicorns have a shit ton of magic so...not very orderly. I guess a better way to put it would be Discord in unbalance and Twily is Balance? But even Discord is sensitive to the balance within the world of Equestria, he certainly felt it when the balance of alicorn magic shifted violently in Twilight’s favor during the whole Teirk thing, he even says “That can’t be right.” Like the sudden shift was bothering him. So you know...
I think i vaguely remember one story where Shining got wings and there is one where he just got immortality [cuz alicorns are at least ageless], so having Shining become an alicorn is something that hasn't been done, and if done right can be very good.
So I say go for it, you already have a more balanced Twilight [I say balanced because she has trained over a lifetime and not 'I got my butt stamp' as to why she has her power], so I'm sure you can make a convincing and logical reason for why SHining gets wings [and not just because plot.]

I see luna and celestia as the twin alicorns of order as well balcony the selves after all they do bring order to the kingdom and with discord knowing something was wrong is because what they did was chotic also I see magic as unaligned after all it is what you do with magic that depends on what it is
balance is important. up to you, but i see merit to this (don't think there is much balance in controlling the weather at all times)

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
I think a proper villain for this twilight would be a being of order. Harmony is a balance between chaos and order. If Twilight is destined to defeat the entity of chaos, than it is also possible for there to be an equally destructive entity of order. I can imagine a mythic creature (maybe a sphinx or a ponified angle) who would descend from the heavens to bring peace and order to the land with his/her paladins of order. All they would ask in return is complete and utter obedience. All chaotic beings (a newly reformed Discord, Trixie, and maybe even Pinkie) would be faced with execution for there nature. The Everfree and it’s creatures would be scheduled for “cleansing”. No trial, just adherence to order. This would be a threat not only because of the powers of the entity and its army, but also the political and social aspect of the situation. Especially if Celestia is initially taken in by the ideology.
