Child of the Tree: About A Bug · 11:55pm Jul 19th, 2018
Hey Everypony!
So, recently I got the brain blast (lol) for the endgame (including the over-arching storyline and the big bad) for this story. I'm hoping I can pull it off as well as it has appeared in my head.
However, this really put into perspective the other 'villains' for me. I already have something planned for Discord and I really dislike Sombra and Starlight (she's grown on me after her reformation but I found her backstory weak and just wanted Twi to blast her more than anything when she was introduced) so they're gonna get it, the more minor villains are almost afterthoughts at this point. But this leaves me with Chrysalis.
The Endgame doesn't really need her nor does it require her to be defeated. She would have remained with the other villains if I hadn't had a niggling idea in the back of my mind.
So, I will leave it up to you guys...Are we defeating ol Queen Chrysalis and letting the changeling line take its course (aka. King Thorax) or would you guys want to see an altered storyline for her where she is Twi's antagonistic friend (weird description but it will make more sense if I end up writing it)?
I don't care either way, I will leave this one to you guys. As I said, she's not needed but she's not required to be completely out of the picture either. So, yay or neigh on this.
P.S. If it affects anyone's opinion, some of you said in the Harmony Guard post that there should be Changelings in the guard (which I am all for, I love the little critters), if Chrysalis and Twi are friends then that will happen sooner rather than after we get the changeling revolution.
Definately aternate route in my opinion
I think it would be amazing to have Tally/Twilight and Queen Chrysalis be friends. I also think it would be halarious to have the wedding invasion thing happen but instead of being all confrontational Tally and the Queen start doing the "Sunshine sunshine" song (or something like it that works for the two) and dance thing to the confusion of everyone else and then proceed to have a normal conversation and catch up as if there wasn't a ruined wedding going on in the background as well as an overly dramatic fight between changelings and guards.
I'd like to see o'l Crissi be friends with Twilight, it would be funny if the two became pranksters and flew around in a cloud messing the the nobles lol.
Antagonistic friends sounds funnier to me, and I rather like Moons_Dragon's idea
I also really like the idea of having chrysalis becoming friends with twilight and it would also make sense as twilight is connected for a lack of beter word to nature and as such would try to help a race that is struggling to survive... I dunno but it makes sense to me

I cast my vote for antagonistic friends as well. There is some sort of odd appeal to the idea of Twilight and Chrysalis being friends that has never ceased to be amusing to me.
Antagonistic friend sounds like fun.

Thorax is utterly useless as a leader, anything that avoids his presence is good in my eyes.

I'm honestly more for the former, but the latter would be fine, I just wouldn't want to see ol Thorax left to the sidelines. The former to me is more interesting, because I feel as if I've seen the latter trodden a million times. I'd like to see something akin to a mix of both, maybe two factions, as long as the consequences of Thorax's lack of leadership played into it. It just sounds more interesting to me, especially with a more old-fashioned Tally, who could probably ground him into reality while retaining his charming character. Regardless, that's my two cents, I'm looking forward to whatever you decide to write :D
I like the idea of Chrysalis being Twilights "antagonistic friend". However, leaving it like that is a bit anti climatic. My suggestion, have her be Twi's friend but still have the conflict between Chrysalis and Celestia. A rule who wants food for her people (and respect) and a rule who doesn't want her people being feed on by monsters. This is deffinatly and issue of balance that would be perfect for the Incarnation of Harmony to solve. The fragile balance of nature between preditor and pray must be healed.
