Child of the Tree: Tentative Endgame

    Bonjour Everypony!

I said in my last post I would put up some notes that I have about the story's endgame in hopes that some more feedback could potentially get me over this hump. This is a little late because of some unforeseen circumstances but I still wanted to make sure I got this out as soon as I could.

Child of the Tree: About A Bug

    Hey Everypony!

So, recently I got the brain blast (lol) for the endgame (including the over-arching storyline and the big bad) for this story. I'm hoping I can pull it off as well as it has appeared in my head.

Child of the Tree: Tentative Endgame · 2:57am Mar 7th, 2019

Bonjour Everypony!

I said in my last post I would put up some notes that I have about the story's endgame in hopes that some more feedback could potentially get me over this hump. This is a little late because of some unforeseen circumstances but I still wanted to make sure I got this out as soon as I could.

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS PLEASE LEAVE!!

Alright, here's what I had down.

Child of the Tree ENDGAME!!!

Apocolypse (name?) - (Villian) seeks neither chaos nor Harmony, only wishes to wipe life from all planes to restart the cycle of the world. (like ragnorok, the cycle of rebirth) ---- SKILLSET MUST BE MATCH FOR TWILLY!!

How do you destroy that which is fueled by destruction? How do you destroy somepony whose conciousness exists on multiple planes at once?

Have Tally and Discord turn their bodies into pure Harmony and pure Chaos to trap Apocolypse on this plane (maybe mirror dimension to avoid too much damage), Celestia, Luna, and Cadence (maybe Shining Armor? [blog post]) use their full power to destroy him. (How?)

Potential losses?

Tally and Discord's bodies are scattered in Apocolypse's final attempt to escape/they get full force of the attack with Apocolypse. The nation mourns their loss. Months later, they finally reform (help from the pillars? Set recharging period? After ponies have 'let them go'?). Rejoice!

The End

So? Thoughts?

Any CONSTRUCTIVE comments are helpful!

Thanks!

Hmm, big question are the villian's powers like order and chaos based upon the natural balance of their universe?? So we got a mini Thanos on our hooves? *Raises and waves blank white flag in surrender*

Here's my thoughts,
If you're going to go the route of a destroyer antagonist, I think a change in the character motivation/plan would need a little adjusting. A villian who appears and just starts destroying everything is a little on the nose especially in a story whose main protagonist is the incarnation of harmony. Instead of being motivated by just destruction, how about cleansing. A being of order that only wishes to rid the would of corruption and chaos. Everypony likes the sound of this, until they realise that this being has a verryyyy wide definition of corruption. You can have it start off small with only true villians getting "purified/executed", and have it steadly get out of control. Viewing the very concept of "moral life" as inherinly chaotic and prone to corruption, this entity and it's/his/her archangles have "no choice" but to purge the world of all life. I'm thinking an elegant yet oppressive name like Dominion or Judge.

I agree with Dragonblade, however if you go with what you suggested yourself I would suggest changing the name to Ragnarok as it sounds better and Apocalypse has been used before.

Something that views sentient life as inheritely flawed and views harmony as a weak compromise to order’s dominance.

Look your Twilight is practically Superman right now and this rout is the "I desperately need to find a way to kill a practically immortal character" and just like with Superman I think that it's stupid normally I try to hold back but my absolute disdain for this type of trope make me able to measure myself.

I think you should explore and build apon tally learning about the new modern world, her making friends while rescuing the pillars so they can reunite with tally before doing the end game, right now I feel it's just "here is op twilight now heres the end" think you could add more to her story to make her more....natural I guess is the word...I dont know but I feel she's too cut off from being a real likeable character
