I'm voting for Mac. I admit the reason I didn't vote for Shining Armor was predominantly because, well, he's much too close to a second slightly-older brother to her (especially since his mom IS her legal guardian), which makes that pairing veer just slightly too close to incest for my tastes.

It’s also just cute, it’s a pairing that works. There’s a lot there to play with fic wise. The age difference, the student teacher dynamic, etc.
That being said, Sunlight is still the only ship that truly matters

Seriously though: I find Twilestia a little icky. The big things for me are the age difference and the power differential: Celestia is 1000+ years older than Twi, and at least began as her teacher/mentor. That feels like it crosses a couple ethical boundaries for me.
Also, since you mentioned Sunset--I've been debating about making Sunset and Sunbolt twins in the next generation of this fic. Any thoughts?

Twi’s ascension made a lot of that less odd imo, also helps that in my head-canon Celestia is very silly and immature when no one’s looking.
If you take her at face value as a serene and matronly goddess it definitely comes across weird.

But how much of it is that way? Sunset was an arrogant mare before she left and Twilight was highly unobservent for an extended period. Both have had their experiences with Celestia clouded by the student teacher relationship and their own personalities.
I am willing to bet based off how the castle in the Everfree was set up she has always had a very practical joking nature. Look at the two Grand Galloping Gala’s we have seen in the show. In the Discord episode of the two she was intending for Discord to show up and cause a scene for part of her amusement. My bet is that both Twilight and Sunset always had their muzzles in books and neither caught onto the hints that Celestia had a sense of humor. Now that both are more observant about their surroundings they are getting use to who the real Celestia is.
I personally feel you should ignore the twilestia shippers. The rest are more rare ships so that's why they arent getting much support.

Sorta. Twi and Celestia are very distantly related, but far enough apart (~63rd cousins) it basically doesn't count. However, they also grew up together: Mrs. Velvet helped raise Cece from ages 12-18.
However, Twilestia is a super-popular ship on this site, and THIS Twi and Celestia are already BFFs. It's not too far of a stretch to think that could blossom into a romance... Except that they're both straight, and Twilestia creeps me out, personally.
