Spectacular Seven Volume II · 11:48pm Jan 19th, 2018
Is halfway through editing!
Just a quick blog so y'all can take a peak behind the curtain. See a few of my thought processes and get a sense of what you're in for this volume and how things progress from here on in.
I finished wrapping up the volume finale (y'all gon love the volume finale) in mid-December, then took a break to finalize the launch of Class Zero (which you should be reading. Go read it. Read it). Initially I had a lot of misgivings with this Volume while I was in the middle of writing it for a number of reasons.
This volume serves as the entire backbone for the rest of the story. Any plot element that hasn't already been set up is set up in here. To me, this is where I make or break the story, so, yeah, no pressure on myself or anything. Blazing through 50,000 words of it in November just made me think, 'everything about this is bad!' But, as I'm editing I'm seeing, of course, I was making a mountain of a molehill.
I think a reason I felt this volume was a little off is because, and follow me on this, there is no central plot focus this time. Last volume, the plot revolved around the Sirens and the Battle of the Bands. This volume's plot is a lot more linear if that makes sense. Everything that happens leads up to something. Last time, everything that happened, happened around something if that makes sense. Volume 3 will go back to there being a central focus and things revolving around that.
Volume II is a little more slower paced than its predecessor, for good and for bad. You guys will really enjoy the opening chapters as they have a very Long Road to Friendship feel to them. That said, it was hard to find that transition back into the magic and supernatural without it feeling too abrupt.
You guys get 22 chapters this volume. I'll be releasing one every Saturday until we get to the finale, which will be released consecutively, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I think this serial release works for this story. I know the hiatus was long, but next time hopefully the wait won't be as bad. You guys will have something to read for a few months while I work on V3, which shouldn't be as long as this one is. If all goes well, the next hiatus will only last a handful of months with the next volume starting in like, November or December.
Overall, I think the volume came together pretty well. Writing it all out and looking back to see what worked and what didn't really helped develop it to its best. New locations, new characters, and the start of the overarching plot that will carry us to the true ending!
Volume II: Phantoms Past will being on February 3rd or the 10th.

Looking forward to it. My only hope for Vol. 2 is that it doesn't get as dark as Vol. 1 did, I don't mind when a story gets dark but there is definitely a limit to how much I can handle XD.

Now seem a good moment to start reading the sequel since I'm also at the end of another over 100k story.

I finished "Spectacular Seven" Volume I a few month´s ago and, like "Long Road to Friendship" before, I loved it! It was probably that Story that made me such a big Sunlight Shipper, so thanks for that. :) I´m looking Forward to Volume II like everyone else.

Oh, and on this matter, mind if I ask... any news about the printed version of Long Road to Friendship? I keep waiting to hear news on that one.
