Now writing 'Yellow Immortality': the steady mutation of genres. · 8:09pm Nov 28th, 2017

Sorry, FOME: it's happening, with credit assigned. But there's something strange happening.

I started out with the following tags: Comedy, Random, and Crossover. I then went for a short walk to clear my head and see what sort of ideas manifested.

I began composition. A few paragraphs into that, I added Dark to the tag group.

I just took off Comedy.

This is not a nice story. It's strange, and more than a little claustrophobic, and perhaps somewhat disturbing.

I just went to the Edit page again.

I'm looking at the Horror tag.

Waiting.

You have seen the Yellow Sign.

It's been maybe six hours.:rainbowhuh:

Oh shit, I guessed right!

Oh shit. Oh shit.

You should see my comment on PINK ponies. I wonder how that applies outside Equestria?

Time and again you've made it clear that I should feel shame or regret in inspiring you this way. And yet all I feel is joy and anticipation.

Funny. I don't even remember buying that timeshare in Carcosa.

I don't care about the tags, I am so reading that when you release it.

You manage to impress me quite regularly.

You are hammering out a story in what I guess will be less than twenty-four hours, from conception to delivery. And I'm betting a coffee on it being good.

I'm now going back in my corner playing with crayons and scribbling stuff.

A horror ponyfic by Estee? I await with mounting dread and excitement.

Praise our King in Yellow!

Hastur Hastur Hastur!

Hype!!!

Edit: Coming back in just to say I definitely read the title as genes not genres, and that combined with the full post disturbed me for a sec.

You've written some Sad stuff before but never anything Grimdark or Horror. I don't usually read those genres. But, since you're my favorite (pony) author, I'ma make an exception for this.

One question (although you're probably too busy writing it to answer)
Stand alone, or Conversion Bureau? It's been awhile since you wrote anything in that category, but this would seem to be the best fit. So, I'll go with Door #2.

I just took the Dark tag off and put Horror on. (There doesn't seem to be much point to having them both.)

Currently at about 4.2k on the word count. I think this one may be around the 6k mark at completion.

For better/worse, upvotes/downvotes, it's posted. Just over 6k.

And included it. But don't worry: I just squinted and recorded the blur.

It happens that way sometimes. You clear the queue as fast as you can to make room, just in case something else comes along.

4736886

Um... without having any idea what you guessed...

4736889

Apparently the yellow ones circumvent natural law.

4736896

Y'know my happy little Hatedom?
Do you really want them blaming you?

It's very... well, the Random tag stayed. (I would have used a Surreal tag if we had one.) I'm pretty sure it's not going to actually scare anyone and I deliberately had the last section as 'come up for air'. But if anyone finds it slightly disturbing or more, then I've achieved the desired effect.

...didn't get that one in, and I'm not sorry for it.

4736929

Hypesters?

Standalone: not main 'verse or CDA. I've never written anything for the Conversion Bureau and likely never will.

I guessed it'd be about Flutter, that's it. The last one was for the implication

I don’t know if I will be able to listen to Yellow Submarine the same way ever again...

4737050
Nah, just expressing excitement at the story. I've been hanging out on Twitch too long it would seem.

My mistake, I meant the Canterlot Deportation Agency. IDK what I was thinking. :rainbowhuh: Then again, why should I be expected to know something nobody else on Earth has the slightest knowledge of?

Well done! I quite enjoyed it.

But if I might jump rails for a moment, "clear the queue"? How is this queue constructed, that your story of Twilight's kidnapcation hasn't updated for six months?

Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submari-ne
We all live in a- yellow submarine
We all live- in a yellow submarine

live live live live live

live live live live live

We all live -in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

I don't know how you did it, but now Yellow Submarine is a creepier Beatles song than Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
