...but what's even more shocking is I didn't hate it.
This site has a bad stigma associated with a lot of horror/dark/gore stories, as many of them tend to be unecessarily edgy and/or painfully poorly written. So, when someone suggested I read a horror story after work today, i was like "Nah fam, we good." But, then I read it, and I was not disappointed.

Dark is admittedly one of my favorite tags for reading and writing, but it has such a bad rap.

I know, right? I'm not afraid to admit I avoid most dark fics because so many of them turn out meh-ish. But this one... it was pretty good.

I care more about content then tags, and I'm willing to give so much a chance that the 'ew, this tag/character/dunno' is so... stupid. I can get it if it's something really morally questionable or in the mysterious realm of Mature stories, but not really outside of that.
Norris writes some good dark stuff. I know some stuff too.

If you've got any recommendations, I'll take em. I've been keeping up with Norris' Synthetic Bottled Sunlight, but that's about it.
Blame Cupcakes for that. It ruined and tarnished a good darkfic. I myself have a love hate with them. Fluttershy also has a tarnished reputation with grimdark because of Pattycakes. If you want a great dark fic for Fluttershy check out How to be Cruel/Kindl, for a really well done story. Some might not like it, but it is really good. I was on edge the whole time and it is a great story on Fluttershy turning evil or bad but not sacrificing the Butter Squeak Pegasus we all know and love.
I hate dark because 9/10 it depresses the hell out of me. But I love horror and dark stuff. If it's not my favorite character, I find that I can read it.

Cyclosa and his newest story are bitchin'. This one you might like has Spike, and is a personal favorite. There's also an M/Gore side-story that is Spike-centric.

Good, but didn't spark that fear in me that certain stories do.
I was introduced to the fandom through cupcakes. Not gonna lie, it was the best campfire story I've heard (other than ouiji boards but then again those never end well)
