Vault Selection · 1:15am Oct 11th, 2012

I want to make this very clear to anyone and everyone: the Vault is a one-man operation, with no direct connection to any other site or userbase or group of people or individuals. No one else has any influence or say in which stories are selected for invitation. It's all me, and me alone.

It's been brought to my attention that at least one Vault author has gotten a lot of anger directed their way, because some people didn't think they deserved to be included there. This is, if you'll pardon the vernacular, complete and utter horseshit. Do you know who belongs in the Vault? The people I invite to the Vault. I read their story and felt, in my personal opinion, that it's some of the best work this fandom has to offer, and it's work that should be preserved. That's what the Vault is.

So if anyone has a problem with the stories and authors selected for the Vault, direct any and all rage or obscene gestures at me, and me alone. The vast majority of Vault authors are contacted by me out of the blue asking if they'd like to be featured. Many express surprise or amazement. No author in their right mind is going to turn down someone saying, "Hey, I think this is one of the best things out there, could I please let everyone else know I think that, if it's not too much trouble?" If you don't like it, take it up with me.

That is all. (Sorry to spam my lovely followers with blogs.)

I like blogs. Spam away, RBDash47.

I do the same thing, but I don't have much of any followers, so I'm worse than you.

Who was this author, if you don't mind my asking?

I would like to second this question, if you don't mind. :twilightsheepish:

RB probably wants to maintain the guy's privacy. It's not me, anyway.

415125 Yes, but, I'm pretty sure all of us here are wellwishers rather than haters. I don't think it would do much harm...

I'd assume ROBcakeran53, because MLD has that ridiculously vehement hatedom.

The "RBDash47 thinks this is great" is only a small part of why I love the Vault. The interviews are what really sells it for me. Everybody has something useful and informative to say, even if I don't like or haven't read their story, and it's nice to get a slice of personality from some of the other authors in the fandom.

The author doesn't need any more attention in this vein, and who it is isn't important anyway. (I know, I know, that kind of cloak-and-dagger mysteriousness irks me too, but...) The idea is, if an author gets shit from someone for being included in the Vault, they can direct the shit-giver here and then ignore further shit-giving. Who knows if it'll work.

Honestly, by the time MLD hit the Vault, I'm sure everyone - fans and haters - just rolled their eyes, haha. I got the chance to meet Rob at Canterlot Gardens, and his jimmies remain marvelously unruffled.

I love you,man.
Stand up and let the truth fly.
I'm tired of the fools around here!

I know what you mean. To often hipsters turn into douche bags.

Like Avatar, lots of people liked it, so the "cool" thing is to hate it. What's sad is people who say, "Did you know that movies is just dances with wolfs in space?" actually think noticing that makes them observant. Because pointing out the obvious is a great way to sound clever isn't it?

Or Titanic. I personally didn't like it, but I don't think that makes it a bad movie. I'm sure as far as romantic tragedies go it was really well done, but it just wasn't a movie for me. I never feel the need to go out and join in on a hate wagon over it.

Ironic people do that considering they're in the MLP fandom isn't it? They'll say it's stupid to hate you don't like because it's popular (a very good point), then hate MLD... for being popular.
