Stories I've Helped On — Two Score, Minus Two or: A Stargate Tail · 7:20pm Jul 27th, 2017

Stargate Command is Earth's first line of defense against a hostile galaxy. Their mandate is "to seek out and recover intelligence and technology to assist Earth in its defense against these aggressors." It’s a dangerous job, and SGC’s mettle and defenses have been tested before. All past incidents were resolved successfully, with the normal citizens of America – and the world – none the wiser. But...

This one may just take the cake. After SG-1 returns from a routine reconnaissance mission, bringing back a curiously intact artifact from an abandoned alien city, people begin to transform. When the changes spread across the planet, the SGC faces the prospect of losing control of the secret they've kept for over a decade.

[Teen] - [Adventure] [Alternative Universe] [Crossover] [Human] [Sci-Fi]

Another story inspired by Dark Horse! This time, with the same-ish premise of 'X meets Five Score,' with the X in this case (as most of you no doubt have figured) being Stargate instead of Dresden Files.

SG-1, the original series, if it matters, but far enough into canon that the Atlantis team is off doing its own thing.

By Lithl, who actually believe it or not, managed to post the prologue and first chapter on the twenty year jubilee of the TV show today. :yay:

As somebody that, cough, has this teeny-tiny problem with dead-lines whistling by, I must admit I'm not at all envious somewhat impressed. :twilightblush:

Anyway, if you like Five Score style stories, or the source material, I think you'll enjoy this one. The writing's really solid so far, and Lithl's got a really solid grasp of the type of mixed action, humor and character interactions that put Stargate on the map in the first place.

Oh, and bonus? Weekly updates.

Link.

And just FYI? Already some sizable spoilers in the comments. Just fair warning.

I do, but I have a fulltime job now.

And I AM still working on my stories despite that, but it's simply simpler to sneak off a minute here and there reading somebody else's story and offer feedback, then it is managing to get the hour or more without interruptions it takes to get into the zone with my own writing.

And... well, RL has to come first. Trite but true.

What does 'Five score' refer to? Score is 20 in some contexts, but I don't think that apples here. Is Five Score an author?

'Five Score, Divided by Four' is a story TwistedSpectrum, about certain bronies/pegasisters just suddenly finding the cutie marks of their favorite ponies on their hips, and slowly transforming into them. Trying to juggle the mystery of what the heck's happening to them, and trying not end up in a government lab somewhere.

Much better then it sounds at face-value, but... Yeah, that premise lead to a ton of copy-cats more focused on the wish-fulfillment angle, and 'Five Score' style stories were actually soft banned on the site for quite a while, because the moderators were being choked by such an influx of them.

But yeah, that story's one the primary inspiration of both Dark Horse and Two Score Minus Two. I'd happily recommend it. Not a flawless ride by any means, but a fun one.
