Sometimes, just sometimes, you see something stupid. And you start laughing. And then more stupid ideas just sort of tumble into your brain. And soon you're giggling and thinking about this stupid thing, and it's hilarious to you. Way funnier than it actually is.
Today, I saw that FimFiction had gained "emoji support". My immediate reaction was the above image. And then I thought it was really funny, because it's so stupid.
We're on a site about writing, and we've been given a tool that is meant to cut down on writing needs. Something that is literally, in my opinion, the opposite of stories. It's these little icons that have full representations. You just are using pictures instead of words to tell somebody something.
There's already a site for that. It's called DeviantArt! Great place. Full of nice pictures.
See, here, there are 'two' types of people: readers, and writers. Readers are here to read stuff because they enjoy reading. Writers are here to write... for many reasons, but ostensibly because writing is something they enjoy. We had a few little pony emoticons, but... emojis? Honestly?
It just struck me as completely ridiculous. And then realized that you could use them in story titles... and inside actual stories and chapters and things. And that struck me as even more funny! Why would you DO that? Why does that need to be a thing at all?
So I just took the option to it's stupid, logically illogical conclusion, and wrote a story where I replaced whole sections of dialogue with emojis. I used them like hieroglyphics or pictographs. There is a whole story in there, a real one, and you can read it if you can see the emojis. The characters speaking in emojis are communicating real concepts, and you can parse their meaning with a little thought.
There's a moment when Cadance and Twilight meet, and they do their cute little dance thing together. It was all in emoji, though, so it looked like "☀️, ☀️, 🐞 ⏰! 👏👏🐴, & 🕺!" Which, in discussing with some friends, I described as "Sunlight, sunlight, ladybug alarm clock! Clap clap horse, & Dancing Guy Emoji!"
It is stupid, but I sort of love that I've done this terrible, terrible thing. And it IS terrible. Don't get me wrong, it's stupid as hell. The story beneath is simple, and goes exactly where you'd expect. I wasn't trying to break any ground. My punchline was the poop emoji. This isn't my best work. For those two or three of you that discovered me through this fic, I'm really sorry. There's way better stuff you could be reading by me, haha!
I accepted every down-vote I got on that fic, today, because it deserved all the love and hate it received.
So, with that said, I bid you all a good evening. Expect a chapter of Man Cannot Live On Coffee Alone coming soon, along with another commission fic!

I really and I mean really enjoy this stupid fun story that made me smile!
I wish those down votes would read the story again as more of a funny simple joke story then an actual story...
There are times when we should read a simple small story to make us laugh 😂
