    State of the Author

So a lot of folks have noticed I haven’t been as active on FimFic lately. The enforced hiatus from COVID and the world going into lockdown kind of threw off my writing groove, and when I started getting back into writing I found that the projects I was interested in lived outside the fandom space. I think it’s probably something that was building up for a while before lockdown, anyone who’s

Winning Pony Print Order Notice · 4:04am Mar 20th, 2017

Is that ... can it be?

Yup! We're ready to take orders again!

Ordering process.

Starting tomorrow afternoon/evening, I will solicit orders in a separate post titled "The Life and Times Order Form, Mk. II" and I will open orders for a period of one week. At the end of that period, it will be clear what the cost of printing will be and how much everyone who wants a copy will owe. I will set the final price, and then Comma-Kazie will send a FimFiction private message to each confirmed customer with payment instructions. Payment will be accomplished via PAYPAL ONLY. Please do not ask questions about whether other forms of payment might be acceptable. The answer will be no.

After a second period of roughly 48 hours for payment, I will cancel all orders which have not been paid for, and then I will order the books from the printer. From that point, it will be approximately three weeks before I receive the completed books and mail them to everyone. You will receive a confirmation PM that your book is in the mail.
This will take some time and I do apologize in advance for the wait; however, I cannot afford to order the books before I have been paid, and will not do so. If you have an issue with this process, please do not order any books.

The Process, tl;dr:

1. Obtain Firm Commitments and Set Final Prices - initial one week sign-up period
2. Transmit Order Confirmations and Accept Payment - second 48 hour period
3. Order Books From Printer - approximately two weeks for production and delivery
4. Sign, Package, Seal, Address, and Mail Books - however long it takes USPS media mail to reach US purchasers, and USPS priority mail to reach international purchasers

Ordering details.

Use the comments for this post for questions, and inquiries, or for any other purpose. In the Order Form post, your comments should take the form of (# of copies - location of customer--e.g., "3, Canada"). Do not post any substantive questions or comments in the order form post, or they will be instantly deleted so that I can keep a clean tally.

Do you have a rough estimate of the cost per copy and international shipping cost?

4463849

The current overall estimate for international orders is $55 USD, depending a little bit on how many people chip in. I'm afraid I won't have an exact figure until I know how many people are ordering how many copies from where, but since it's only one book this time instead of two, it should be a lot cheaper this run.

Wish I could afford another copy, given that I helped edit this one quite a bit. Ah well.

So I have not read the book yet. But I think owning a physical copy would be sweet! I'm in.

I need to order spares anyway in case of loss or damage, so if--IF--I have any left over, I can hold onto one for later.

Will you be signing the books?

I need that book to live. :ajsmug:

How long will it take after the sign-up period ends before you'll have the final numbers and will be ready for people to pay? Only I'm going away for a week starting at the beginning of April.

See: The Process, tl;dr: #4

In my experience, the shipping tends to be a bit much outside the USA. I mean, I live in Canada and I think the average ship price for a Fanfic ends up being something like $15 US? I expect that shipping to the EU will be more than that, especially as this tome is on the large side.

4463932 What about US orders?

4464144

I forgot all about that, thank you!

4464171

Yes, I will be able to send these books to Europe-- and Asia, and pretty much any place the United States Post Office delivers to. Fair warning it will cost more to ship it out of the U.S., but it shouldn't be too much more than standard orders.

4464846

I'll need to crunch the numbers first. Pricing is cheaper the more units I order, so it depends on how many books I'm ordering and where I'm sending them.

Do you have any ballpark estimates on the cost of the book in the US? I ran through the comments but didn't see anything, so I apologize unreservedly if this question has been asked and answered.

According to this, it will be $47. However, the actual cost will depend on the amount of copies ordered by the end of this week, and I don't know what numbers the $47 estimate was based on. Right now there are 67 copies ordered in public (http://www.fimfiction.net/blog/723322/order-form-the-life-and-times-of-a-winning-pony-mk-2-), but there's no way to tell if that means the cost is going to be higher or lower than $47.

I put down Switzerland, but if it makes a difference in cost I can also get it at my parents' address in Germany.

4465639

Nailed it in one, thanks Willsaber. One of the things I have to account for is PayPal's 4% transaction fee, which is going to be integrated into the final price.

4466714

That won't be a problem! I can send it to either address--Priority International shipping is primarily based on weight, and there isn't an appreciable price between Switzerland and Germany.
