Who is Best Pony, and Why? · 11:35am Mar 4th, 2017
Not interested in a debate over which pony is "best" overall, but who is your best pony, and what do you like about them?
I guess I'll go first…
Twilight Sparkle is best pony.
She's smart, but more than that, she's inquisitive — she knows there's things she doesn't know, and she's determined to keep on learning, keep on discovering. Whatsmore, she's very caring towards her friends — despite being shy and socially awkward, she has a small group of very close friends, whom she'd do anything for. These are qualities I aspire to in myself, and that's why Twilight Sparkle is best pony for me.
Also, she's a princess, and princesses are hot.

Yes, Rainbow Dash is cool, but she does occasionally show a more vulnerable side, and personally I find I like her a lot more when she lets the façade down.

I'm sure I've already told you that Pinkie was my initial favourite pony when I first started watching the show. Her bubbly personality would make her a great friend to have. She's still easily in my top five ponies.
And yes, Applejack is great too. Assuming you were talking about her.
Celestia, there is so much potential with the character and a long history that can be filled with anything you can imagine to make her what she is today.

Celestia was always my least favourite of the princesses. It's not so much that I dislike her — I don't — but rather that I like the other princesses more. Still, I agree her backstory is interesting — for example, her conflict with Luna must have taken quite an emotional toll on her.

Honesty is an admirable quality, though it can be a double-edged sword, getting you into trouble as often as it will get you out of it, upsetting people as often as it cheers them. Would be interesting if the show explored that more. And her mane is adorable — I'm a sucker for ponytails and pigtails. Her cousin Apple Fritter's mane is even cuter though. And Apple Bloom's bow.

Rainbow Dash!
Let's list the ways shall we?
1: She's a loyal friend, and while not the type for mushy stuff, she'll have your back at a moment's notice if you need her. She's also a pretty good role model when she needs to be, Scootaloo can easily attest to that.
2: She's responsible for the Sonic Rainboom that linked all of her friends destiny's together, as well as secure the future of all of Equestria.
3: While stubborn, brush, pretty egotistical at times, she know when to do the right thing. She also demonstrates selflessness, loyalty, and courage. There are even entire episodes where doesn't demonstrate a hint of ego.
Scootaloo is best pony
I first started loving her because of Scootaloo's growth: from baby to champion she is such an interesting character that is so much fun to read about 
Starlight Glimmer.
Not only do I feel that she was the best villain thanks to the season 5 finale, but she's just so fun to watch in season 6.

Scootaloo's good, but Sweetie Belle will always be my favourite CMC — mostly I love her voice.

She was a good villain. Of her two outings as the bad guy, I prefer her first though. I found her motives pretty relateable — she didn't consider that she was doing anything bad… she was just trying to make everybody equal.

and Moondancer, since all of these ponies are well-developed in the show and it's great fun to dress myself up in their headspaces. I've written a little Star Swirl for historical speculation. I like the CMC but I rarely do anything apart from (Hoo!) the 'loo. 
And Thorax is adorbs.
Finally, I love to write
not because she's easy to write, but specifically because she's a challenge. Her psychology is heavily guarded, so there's a lot I can do with her.

She may be rude, loud, obnoxious, egotistic and childish sometimes, but deep down Rainbow Dash has shown her softer side and has proven to herself that she may not be the best, but that she cares for her friends than being awesome from previous seasons. And that's why I like her character so much. And She's 20% Cooler!

My favorite pony is Scootaloo, rising to the challenge even though she's having trouble flying.
That an' she's awesome, daring and reckless. Rainbow Factory/Pegasus device was when I first realized that she's my fav character, and why. She's got a lot of heart and she's there for her friends.
I can't put my finger on exactly what Best Pony is, but I'll say I take an absolute liking to Babs Seed who has become one of my trademark in-writing characters . . . I've done enough blogs with her in them and I gave her a character in one of my stories, CROWDED.

When I first started watching my favorite was Pinkie Pie because she was so funny and had a bubbly personality but now it's Starlight Glimmer because she was an awesome villain (probably the best of MLP) and when she reformed she was still great and she can be socially awkward which reminds me of myself
Pinkie. Because she wants to make others happy
Fluttershy will always be best pony to me. Not only is she super adorable and sweet, but she's something of an inspiration to me. As someone who suffers from anxiety, it's encouraging to see someone who suffers from it much more than I, someone who could just as easily lock the doors and never leave the house, get up and take on the day anyway. Despite her numerous setbacks and hardships in dealing with a world that doesn't always accommodate her, she gets up and goes out into the world, and she is better for it. Plus, she has a hidden strength to her that helps her pull through for her friends and for herself.
Fluttershy isn't just "best pony". To me, she's a hero. And that's why I'll always love her.

Sunset Shimmer. She hit rock bottom and had a choice. She made the right one. That's harder than anything any of the other ponies has done.
Always loved Derpy. She's just so adorable. But then again, so is everypony else.
Five weeks late to answer, and with a controversial question, no less
Are we counting EG-only characters?
'Cause I'm beginning to wonder if Adagio Dazzle is finally winning out over Fluttershy for me. I definitely find her the most enjoyable (and easiest) character of all to write, and I like reading about and watching her more than anyone else, so, yeah. As for why, because it's nice watching a character who firmly knows what they're doing, who can adapt to changing circumstances with ease, thanks to her dazzling intellect is able to generate huge results with only minimal input, and sings all three of the best songs in the whole of MLP.
But if the siren/human doesn't count, and it's genuinely best pony and no other species, then Fluttershy, with honourable mentions for Spitfire, Derpy and Maud.
