Those who can't do, teach. And those who can't teach, make MLP audio books, apparently.

Need your Hearth's Warming Fic Recommendations! · 12:06am Nov 4th, 2016

My Month of Macabre reading didn't pan out due to some IRL stuff, and I'm very disappointed. It's very nearly done though, so I'll put it on the shelf for next year. :raritycry:

But! Hearth's Warming season is just around the corner, and I need your help picking out some good stories to make into readings! So, If you have a favorite XMas/Hearth's Warming Story that you think sound good in audio form, let me know! Shameless self-promotion is allowed!

This one might be too long, if you're looking for one-shots (it weighs in at about 35,000 words), but I recently read and absolutely adored Kegisak's Pipsqueak Plod and the Quest for Crackers. It's sweet, engaging, full of beautiful little flares, heartwarming, and I think it would translate extremely well to audio format.

I'm also rather partial to PartyPie's At Least There Was Good Coffee, though I'll admit that that might be because it was written as a Secret Santa gift for me. It's got a lot of rapid-fire dialogue, so it might not be the best choice for a single narrator, but it'd be one to consider if you're teaming up with another reader or two!

My story Baby it's Cold Outside is a nice one. A bit long and nothing but shipping lol

Hey, don't beat yourself up, friend. When your project is finished, you can rejoice in that fact that you did it. Furthermore, I, as well as the rest of your fans, I'm certain, can easily forgive you for any delay. We understand that real life comes first. :ajsmug:

I hope you're well and wish you the best with your upcoming projects. I don't have any specific requests, but I think a general winter poetry reading would be appropriate. You never know what you might find in the public domain. I'll certainly be considering it.

Man, it normally grates on me to self-promote, but I'd love to hear a reading of Dinkin' Donuts. In one of his columns, Chris said it's begging to be read aloud.

I'd also nominate Dubs Rewatcher's How the Half-Naked Santa Saved Christmas. It's racier than I usually like in a story, but it was funny.

Yes! Dinkin' Doughnuts would definitely be an excellent choice, sweet and charming--Neighrator, you should give it a look, too!

4285906 I can also recommend Yule in a Donut Shop. (Srsly, I never noticed this before, but what's with Rune Soldier Dan and me both using donuts at Hearth's Warming?)

Gifts Ungiven by Slate Sadpony was good.

And If Only in My Dreams by TheSlorg, though it's already got two readings, one by scribbler, if that matters to you.

Home by RBDash47 was decent.

The Perfect Gift for the Perfect Sister by sister_mike was also decent.

Let it Snow by ToixStory was fairly good, but the one thing that really bugged me about it was that Dash has a crippling fear of the cold, which is a little hard to reconcile with canon, and it's odd for her to choose to work as a weather pony in that case.

One other I'd give a less enthusiastic recommendation of is Their Hearth's Warming by ThunderChaserCreate

4288511 Why, thank you. Every year *after* the holiday is over, I always find one or two that I should have put in. (darnit, now I need to get off my rear and update my list)
