    It's late

But my brain isn't quiet. I'm stoned out of my goddamn gourd. Don't worry, it is just my usual regimen of drugs. That's how I spent a lot of my time now. Wasted. Doesn't really help with the pain much, but makes it a bit more tolerable. All of my drugs cost over 5 grand a month. That's what it takes to keep me going. I'm in somewhat better shape because of all of it, and there's a few bright

    Cyborgification is potentially a-go

Finally found a doctor that didn't run screaming upon seeing my spine images and xrays. The team is coming together. Met with the neurosurgeon the other day, and he thinks I am an ideal candidate for augmentation. The transition is happening, I think. I still have to pass a psych evaluation and other steps, but I am closer now than ever. First I'll have the trial run; they'll sink electrodes into

I suppose it is time for an update

Been meaning to this, and I've become the King of Pro-Crasty Nation. I kept wanting to report, but there was nothing to report, no good news at all, so I just... didn't. Sorry. Went a bit silent on my end. It just sorta happened.

I finally got a lawyer willing to take up my case. After that, things started happening.

Unrepentant nerdery · 6:01am Jun 26th, 2016

If Tarnished Teapot had a class in a roleplaying game, what would it be? Fighter mage? Scout? Ranger? Been thinking about it. He's not quite a wizard.

And what about Maud?

Unleash the late night nerdery.

That's harder than it looks on the surface. Maud would have a lot of Knowledge-Nature class skills, and that's not in the straight Fighter skill list. Barbarian would give the health and combat, but really stinks for skill selection. Ranger, perhaps, with Boulder being her pet might work.

Teapot is easier, because I had a friend do this with a character: Rogue at first level, with almost none of the skill points/Feats going into traditional Rogue skills, i.e. Appraise, Dodge, Listen, Spot, etc... and only switching to Sorcerer at second level (because he has a higher charisma than he admits, but almost no spell variety.)

Im with georg, tarnished would probably be a mage thief or thief mage or some combination of the two.

I.

Have.

No clue what this blog is about.

Guess I'm not nerd enough for this conversation.

Not sure about Tarnish, but I could totally see Maud as a Druid/Berserker.

I'm kind of thinking he would be a Magus/Druid. He combines martial fighting with combat magic. as for Maud, Monk. She is strong with unarmed and is too calm to be a Berserker or a Barbarian.

Maud=Paladin Tarnished=Wizard or Druid leaning toward druid.

Tarnish would be a multiclass. Started wild mage, then branched out to druid.

Maud would be also multiclass, geomancer/monk.

There's actually a D&D story out here where Maud winds up as a monk.

Your version of Maud is much more focused on her intellectualism, so it's not a perfect match but...

uh, not a D&D player here, but i do play Rouge Trader.
Maud would be a Space Marine no doubt, and Tarnish... an Astropath? Not sure bout him.

4049755 (Disclaimer: I'm talking Pathfinder unless I specify otherwise.)

Going by her show appearances, very little fits better. Maud's falls well within the scope of archetypal Monk personalities. As far as her physicality goes, she's extremely quick in a pinch and uses rapid, repeated strikes that bypass hardness to chip away at the falling rock (being able to bypass hardness, incidentally, puts her at quite a high level). It's a shame that Knowledge (dungeoneering) isn't a Monk class skill, but the DCs to identify metals, stones, or minerals are low enough that they can be made with cross-class ranks and a bonus from her special talent. And there's nothing that says Monks can't be intellectual - which she is in the show too, pursuing or holding what can only be a doctorate in geology once the Pinkie-isms are stripped away - other than the various optimization guides out there. A thousand-plus years of Buddhist, Christian, and Confucian tradition, never mind the RPG fluff which draws from them to varying degrees, say otherwise

I don't know Tarnish well enough to assign him a class. In fact I don't think I've read a story that's featured him for more than a paragraph or two. If I had to guess from the comments here, though, I'd say Magus or Bard.

4049834 *sees almost 80 chapters*

Yeah, maybe I'll read that at some point . . .

Wait, wait, wait... Is there even a form of nerdery that isn't unrepentant nerdery? :twilightoops:
I wouldn't know!
I roll in my nerdery, bask in it, wear it proudly on my chest... Or my back, if it's one of those t-shirts... :derpytongue2:

Wild Mage, hands down.

4049834 damnit! Another story to rot in my Read It Later shelf. I really need to clear that thing.

Tarnish is super easily an Alchemist.

Maud... maybe a Bard? Support and information based, with focus on emotional support and the like.

Maud Pie = Fighter/Druid

- immense strength, melee fighter
- Pie Family "sense" + earth pony sense + geomancing skill

Tarnished Teapot = Cleric/Paladin

- Magical skill is specialized (healing, restoration)
- Has a higher calling bestowed upon him (Poison Joke nexus/font; the sword, orb, and shield)

It's not a perfect fit. I feel trying to assign a class here is a bit too rigid.
But what do I know?

Maud has a shade of Barbarian, what with her Tranquil Fury when she's pissed. (Unorthodox but identical in principle regarding the traditional berserker rage)

Tarnished has elements of Alchemist (zebra hoodoo) and traditional Mage (scalding steam) but he strategizes a bit like a Rogue (sneaking, stealth, ambush) so it's hard to pin down exactly what he is.

Hence my question. I've been thinking about it. Tarnish is a jack of all trades. But a master of nothing.

My thoughts? Tarnish is psionic, which is why his magic is so hinky. He's a multiclass rogue/wilder, or possibly bard/wilder. (Bard, because wilders don't really do healing effects, while bards can. Of course, he may just be combining item creation feats with Use Magic/Psionic Device...)

OTOH, in World of Darkness terms, he's definitely a Mage, with Fate and Prime as Ruling Arcana and probably Time as an Inferior Arcanum. He's got more Arcana dots than he thinks he does, but not a terribly high Gnosis.

As for Maud, my thoughts lean toward ranger, possibly multiclassing with druid. In WoD terms, she's a Mage too, but with Matter and Mind as Ruling Arcana and Life as an Inferior.

Branching from everyone's D20 comfort zone, here's where I place them in Exalted:

Tarnished Teapot is most likely a Solar Exalted of the Twilight Caste, and if he were 3rd Edition, he would be Medicine supernal - a rare but valuable focus. One nice things about Exalted's Charms is that you can modify the visual to support a wide variety of effects. So, Tarnish's voodoo dolls, potions and herbalism are as viable as another Exalt with the same Charms smacking someone in the forehead and yelling "Be HEALED!"

Maud's strength, endurance and tenacity lead her to be one of 2 possible things. As a survivor in a pretty hazardous world, Maud could well be Tarnished's Lunar Exalted mate. She's tough, strong, smart, creative and flexible - even if she is stoic most of the time. Sure, there's no blatant shapeshifting, but all the other factors are there. Likewise, the family - except Pinkie - seems highly resistant to Poison Joke, a Shaping effect. If Pinkie had a Socialize or Performance focus, while her sisters had a Resistance or Endurance focus, Pinkie would still be vulnerable to Poison Joke.

Alternatively, placing her in a different tier is a bit stereotypical - but since her whole family has extraordinary strength, endurance, stamina, fortitude - what have you... the entire Pie clan may well be Earth-Aspected Dragonblooded. (And the related Apple clan, Wood-Aspected!) Even Pinkie Pie is vastly stronger and tougher than she looks, although she may be the outlier who has Socialize or Performance as her supernal skill while Maude, Limestone and the rest of the family lean towards Athletics, Survival, and Resistance. This would also explain why Pinkie was vulnerable to Poison Joke.
