Quick Update About Non-Updated Things · 7:09pm May 26th, 2016
First things first, here's a picture of Sweetie Belle to put everyone in a good frame of mind.
And now to business. It's been two months to the day since I published anything towards Celestia's Angels, and I bring that up because all of y'all who are tracking it deserve to know why that's happened.
Contrary to what every other project I've ever started here would imply, I haven't abandoned the story. I did, however, have real life kick me in the teeth a couple times and then hold me down while it sat on my head. Those of you who are following me beyond that story, remember way back in November when I blogged about having some issues with depression and suicidal thoughts, and then pretty much disappeared for half a year afterwards (which I'm sure was in no way concerning for anyone watching from afar)? Well, that whole deal flared up again in a big way in early April--to the tune of a temporary detainment order in a mental hospital, actually, although I and both therapists I've seen since all agree that was an overreaction on someone's part. Coincidentally, said metaphorical 'splosion of the head occurred right as I was getting a good head of steam going with Celestia's Angels, and was swiftly followed by a solid month and a half of final college projects/responsibilities, graduation, and (now) a full-time search for permanent employment.
Suffice it to say, there's been a lot of heavy IRL stuff going on with me as of late, and only now-ish am I reaching a point where I can start (once again) reforming some healthy habits for daily writing production. On that note, however, I may have admittedly screwed myself over a bit by publishing Celestia's Angels when I did. Probably my worst habit when it comes to writing is my tendency to force stories out before they're ready for the sake of capitalizing on some perceived trend or meeting some arbitrary deadline, and in this case I wanted to get this story published before the S6 premiere so that Actual Canon Starlight Glimmer wouldn't ruin my borderline-OC portrayal of her in Celestia's Angels.
In retrospect, that was a pointless and sort of dumb move to make, because now I can't edit the completed story as one cohesive draft or stagger chapter releases on a consistent schedule. That being said, the story won't be that long--only 9 or 10 chapters total--so I should be able to update with relative frequency once I'm settled into my eventual post-grad career/apartment combo. In any event, that's its status at the moment: in cryogenic stasis, but not dead. Thanks for your patience and love.
Here's more Sweetie Belle, with bonus Apple Bloom.
I like the cute pictures. The mental health problems I do not like. I hope they go away soon and make room for more cute pictures.
I've been in a psych ward before. It's no biggie.
It does take some courage to admit it publicly, though.
2 months really isn't much compared to some other authors. The point is, take the time you need. RL comes first.
Glad things are getting better, and hope to see you the weekend of the con!
Two months is nothing in terms of story updates. Take all the time you need.
I am the one who mwaps.
Woah, i'm a bit late here. Was wondering what happened.
Hope you're doing alright, I'm loving Celestia's Angel's so far!
