Good day, everyone!
First things first, I wanted to thank you all for your support during my last, somewhat whiny blog post. I really appreciate the kind words and encouragement!
Work is still work, though my management agreed to greatly reduce my overtime. I took a couple of weeks to clear my head and try to reduce my stress after that. Now I've gotten myself back onto a writing schedule, which feels great!
The next chapter of Sunflower: Harmony has just been moved to my editing folder. This means that my editors get to do their thing, picking it apart and pointing out all the stuff I goofed up on or didn't do very well.
I'm not sure how long it will take for that chapter to be published... In the past, I sped things up by having several chapters in the editing folder all in different stages of revision. Right now, though, chapter 21 is the only thing in there, all by its lonesome. I will get it published just as soon as I think it's ready, which (hopefully) won't be more than a week or two.
I'm also putting together a short story collection, like so many of the cool kids are doing. I'm planning on calling it "Hoopy's Notebook", and each story will be less than 2000 words long. I'll probably be publishing that today or tomorrow.
"Hoopy's Notebook" will be a place for story ideas that aren't really worthy of their own stand-alone story. It's a place where I'll publish works that I write mostly for fun or as a creative exercise, and it's also a way to keep my output up—a very important thing, now that I'm back on a writing schedule. I've got to get back into the habit of writing every day!
On a more personal note, I just got a new pair of glasses today. My vision is a little swimmy, as I'm still getting used to them, but everything is so much clearer! Also, apparently it's a bad idea to wait 12 years between prescriptions...
Later, everyone!
Your editors do a great job, indeed, but I still notice errors from time to time in new chapters. I don't know if you're against having too many editors, but I've got loads of free time on my hands that I'd gladly devote to helping edit PS: Harmony if you'd like.
All the same, looking forward to the next new chapter.
Edit: I forget if I already offered and you turned me down. I'm sorry, in that case.
Great news. Also, I got a pair of new glasses too! Come see:
New Pair
I am nearly blind without my glasses. I also like to swim. I keep my old glasses and wear them when I swim because it won't be a huge problem if they get damaged or lost.
Ps. I recommend get a new eye exam ever 2 years and getting new lenses or glasses if there has been a noticeable change.
Good to hear that things are going along more smoothly! Looking forward to the short stories!
great to have you back
Good news are always great to hear.
"Hoopy's Notebook" sounds like the sort of thing us regular people would point to as their greatest achievement. All your short stories so far have been gold, so I'll be waiting for that with baited breath.
*emits fangirlish squeals!*
Also, I hope you're not subject to the new glasses curse like I am: receive new glasses; drop new glasses; acquire scratches.
It's probably been almost ten years since I got glasses. I have vision insurance now too... meh.
Seriously, seriously, goddamn seriously people get your vision checked yearly. AUGH. It drives me crazy when people don't! Particularly when they already wear glasses! (Several reasons - but the big one is that my cousin developed a rare disease that, if he'd waited 2 years in between exams, he would now be permanently, totally blind. But also if your prescription changes an old prescription can cause eyestrain.)
3818983 Huh. Looks like I missed that blog post. Are those things actually any good or is it just hollow hype?
Also-
Awesome to hear that work's going better and you can write again. Looking forward to your short story collection.
3820071 They're very nice, though they really need motion controllers.
What did I say? Nothing can stop you from writing forever. Welcome back Hoopy .
Looking forward to "Hoopy's Notebook", see what you have made up in your wonderfull mind.
*calmly clears his throat* Ahem...

Happy to hear that things are better and that you are writing again.
Super stoked that you are doing better. Take your time and I look forwards to the next chapter when it's ready.
I did something similar. 10 years, and because the nose pad was askew, it messed up my vision further.
