It helps remind me that I'm a productive individual who likes to give credit and mentions where he can. Are you familiar with deviantart.com? On there, one can specially format so that the icon of the user mentioned displays instead of their username. The icon is automatically linked to their own page for others to easily access, and I think it's a great idea. One can also link text of their username like I do here, too, if one wishes, but the other method is much more elegant. I think using their icon also sends a notification to the user, indicating that they've been tagged somewhere.

Let's just say that, if I were ever to be mentioned somewhere else on this site, I'd like to have my username linked; do as you would have done unto you; ergo, I link the authors . Likewise, this would go for my fanfiction, and so I link the stories when I'm allowed.
