I'll get right to the point: I got a new job! :pinkiehappy:

While I enjoyed my previous work, it was mostly thoughtless data entry and wasn't even close to full-time. I have clawed my way out of the welfare trap.

Progress Report #2, and a Question

Question first: Does anybody know what happened to Swift Blade Productions? I could've sworn when I trailed off that they were a rising audio reading channel. Now I can't even find them on YouTube. :rainbowderp:

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holliday

I wish there was more I could say that I haven't said fifty times previously. I miss this place and wish I could be back to work on here. I hope you're all well.

    Howdy, all!

I'm curious if anyone has plans for this Hallow's Eve. I don't have much worked out for it yet myself.

I'll get right to the point: I got a new job! :pinkiehappy:

While I enjoyed my previous work, it was mostly thoughtless data entry and wasn't even close to full-time. I have clawed my way out of the welfare trap.

My work now is as a tax clerk at my local earned income tax collection office. I'd have reported about my first week here, but it was honestly one of the scariest I've had. There's a lot of responsibility to what I do, and their method of teaching how to process returns and deal with problems is basically for me to ask about problem returns/documentation as I see them. As opposed to presenting me with the different types of issues in a systematic or categorical manner, which has led to me asking a lot of questions, seemingly about the same things, multiple times over the past couple weeks.

It has taken me several weeks just to build up the confidence to handle some more complicated situations, but I think I'm learning a lot more than my supervisors here are ready to credit me for.

I was also woefully sick Friday the 20th with an unstoppably runny nose. I took my first sick day on literally the 15th day of my work. :rainbowlaugh: I've not needed a sick day since junior high. Miserable experience.

I had only just found about this terrific music video, and it pretty much summed up my swirling concerns about being ill and possibly incompetent at my work. Being sick for the weekend wasn't as bad as that first day, but even now, I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm in the right work.

While I haven't been much up for audio reading lately, you ought to know that one of the collaborative reading projects I was a part of is nearing its end. Below is to last episode in which a character I voice is involved. It won't make much sense if you haven't kept up with the story, though, so I recommend to you check out Inverno in F Minor when you get the chance.

So far, the landscape for future audio readings from me is pretty barren, but I think about doing things from time to time. D&D with my peers in town here has worn thin on its entertainment value, although I may be more bored of them than of the activity. Still, with less D&D, I may feel more inclined to do voice work.

Congratulations! That's certainly a step up. And agreed, that's a huge responsibility, but I think you're the right person to handle it.

Thank you, dobermans! I think I will be certainly up for it in time. My speed for processing returns has already doubled since my first day. The work is elaborate. I never realized how tax collection could feature so much friction. I think in time they will be glad to have me on.

congrats man. Good to hear from ya again
