Status Update + Researcher Twilight, Colors of the Heart , and Other News. · 11:24am Sep 16th, 2015
Obligatory Blog BGM.
Oh man. It's been quite a while since I've updated my blog, hasn't it? However I come bearing good news for Colors of the Heart and Researcher Twilight. I am back and in the swing of things. (Now let's just hope I don't jinx myself again and my house explode or something terrible like that. 
)
The past month has been great and quite productive, and the prior months resolving many issues I had been facing. I had come to learn that I had a bent septum, as well as an enlarged and a crowed middle turbintae; which had lead to a moderate case of sleep hypopnea.
What does all that mean exactly? Basically the cartilage that separates both nostrils in the middle of my nose was bent. This caused crowding in the inner nose on left side, as well as my right side enlarging over time and fill in all the extra space. While this might all sound extremely uncomfortable, it apparently had been this way for as long as I could remember, so I guess I had just gotten used to it. This also explained what had been triggering my insomnia all these years. My airflow would slow way down due to the extra work on my lungs at night, causing my body to subconsciously move to a more comfortable position, often waking me. Seeing as I never snored, I didn't have any obvious signs that this was happening. I was just tired all the time.
Any whom, Long story short: 2 surgeries and a painful nasal abscess later, I can breath normally again. Which felt very alien after having been used to how it was for as long as I could remember. Since then, my stress and anxiety has gone way down due to much better night sleeps. Now toss in my living situation having stabled out again. I also manged to get back together with my Ex that I had been in a prior relationship for 7 years. It would seem we just needed some time apart to realize what we had really lost. So some conversations and spending time together again later, every things great again. This break up was actually what had originally started my slow, downward spiral roughly two years ago. So things are looking up.
But enough about me. You're all here about news of my stories.
So colors of the heart has seen a lot of attention lately, with myself looking over some unposted chapters, as well as finishing another. This brings me to 3 more or less finished chapters for colors of the heart. Why haven't I posted them? As I had mentioned before, I more or less tripped at the finish line. I'm not too far off from wrapping things up, so I'm just going to do that before I update it again.
Now researcher Twilight on the other hand. That's a tricky one. I also have almost 2 chapters for it as well, however I am contemplating what exactly I want to do with it. I had another author approach me with the prospect of working with me on it, however they want to essentially reboot it with a rewrite. Granted most of the major plot points would remain the same, only events leading up would see more attention, as well as the characters. However I remain unsure I I want to take them up on it, so I figured I would ask you the readers for your opinion. After all the story is for you guys, I simply write it.
Also in regards to Researcher Twilight, it would appear NATOstrike has fallen off the grid for the time being. Neither myself or anyone online that knows him has heard anything from in a few months now. While this worries me, I figure hes probably been busy having his brain cooked with delicious radiation. However this has left me alone to work in ReTwi without his input. Knowing what I know and having what I do, I am easily capable of continuing the story even without looking over my shoulder form time to time. It just wish I had him around to both give his opinion and motivate me, as well as ease my concern.
Lastly, I have actually been very active with my editing during my time away from actual writing. So much that I have actually worked my way into the position of co-author of one story. Some of you may remember my mention of being an editor of the Spiders and Magic series by Maximus Reborn some time back. I had worked my way into a collaboration with him for parts two and three, helping with planning and adding a fair amount of input on what was happening, as well as tweaking a great deal of dialogue.
However with part four being the finale of the series, I have stepped up to the plate as actual co-author of the story, often writing along side Maximus within the google doc. This has been extremely fun, and very productive. With the two of us having finished twelve 4-6k chapters in just under 2 months. With the release right around the corner (next friday, the 25th.)
The series readers have often refereed to us as a dynamic duo, with my influence being noticeable and a great addition to the story since I started to really get involved with part two. My love and near obsession with slice of life anime, manga, and visual novels has lead me to have a solid grasp on characters, their interactions, as well as dialogue. Maximus on the other hand having a much greater preference of action/adventure, has a firm understanding of plot progression, action scenes, and storytelling in general. Now meld in our shared love for comedy, and you have a pair that compliments one another strengths.
So check it out if you have even a remote interest in spider-man. heck even if you don't, but enjoy a good story and strong characters. I had no interests in comic books, superheroes or spider-man when I was first recommended it, and here I am some time later writing part of it. Funny how life woks sometimes, huh?
So with all that said, I'm not at all dead just yet. The creative gears are turning once again, so stay tuned.

It really is a lovely visual novel. However without the restoration patch to add back in everything that was removed and broken with the translated release, it is entirely unworthy of the title.
I have played a ton of slice of life visual novels in the past year or so.

Regarding the question of rebooting it... I'm not sure. I'd vote against what I'd consider a reboot here, I think, but I'm not sure what you're talking about is something I'd consider a reboot. Sorry I don't have more useful feedback here.

Hi! I'm the crazy horse words spammer that wants to reboot RT.
What I had proposed: Post what Azu finished into the fic and leave a note (pending approval) and we'd make a separate fic to update on. It would be posted under Azu's account so he doesn't Pass-the-bing (angry beavers referance) or leave the community with a feeling that the fic is abandoned. Its not Abandoned, its being given new life and a new direction.
I'm a fan of RT, I enjoyed it back in the early days of when I started reading FIMFIC, however, there are all kinds of issues I see when I reread it now (purple unicorn syndrome, lack of character depth at certain points, lengthy time skips, things that keep everyone at arms length with identifying with well... Anyone. Its like watching SW:E1 when I look back.) But I see the potential and I want to give the fic a chance to come alive. The main events of the story are still there, and I've been outlining to Azu what I've got planned. When we first spoke, I mentioned that I really wanted to draw the reader in to what each character has, and to give the reader reason to understand from their point of view what's going on.
Positive credentials: I actually have an idea and the means to get this story out, while keeping to the RT feel of the story, I've looked over the source material and asked questions that would be needed to get the story going. I wanted Nato's blessing originally, but he's been away for a while so I pitched it to Azu. I want Azu as the editor and to oversee the project as it continues. He has the final say in a lot of things and the more we talk, the more he seems to agree with a lot of ideas and ways to go about this.

Still, hm, based on what you did post... That does sound good, but so much of it is in the execution and hard to predict ahead of time. Hm... If this was originally Azu's story, I think I might be making a vote for the reboot, but I am worried about the legacy from NATOstrike. Without their blessing... I don't know. I realize that that's very inconvenient for you, since you have no idea when or if you might get that, but... Well, good luck, whatever you do here.

Aye it did, but all it cutoff were my story's statistics and my wish to keep the original up for Nato's memory and so people can still read it as they like, and have a new version of the story, which Azu will post under his name so you're not having to waste time following me.
Mainly, I'd like to give the story a shot under my head canon and to get it all out there.

I still think the reason why its done so well is because I've had a great editor, Merlosthemad helping get my ideas on document for others to read. I am certain with this new tale Azu will help in a similar way. Especially because Azu wont need to reel me in from getting too dark or serious.

Thus I wanted a separate fic up. You're welcome to ask or suggest things, much of the project is secret, but I'd be willing to share a few things. Again, this all pends Azu's Final approval. I want to get a few chapters down before we upload it as this story must pass Azu's approval first. He is after all left in charge of the fic. :D

I plan to be rather particular with how it will be written. I know NATO well enough as to what he would or would not approve of having attached to his premise. NoisyPegasus has a tremendous hurdle to leap over if it is to meet both my expectations and standard, as well as following within what NATO would approve of had he added his input. I'm not about to try to passing off the story or anything like that, but more so have a bit of help telling it, though in a slightly different fashion than the original.
You could still expect much of the conflict that would have come to be, but how it is told and happens would be a little different. This is again assuming he can deliver what he says. If not, then the original will kick back up into full swing again. This subject has been what has stopped me from really writing anything of it.
It's a difficult choice as an author really. Accept help to achieve a goal, but at the cost of having it not exactly how you imagined it. However there are some lines and stipulations that I will not allow to be crossed, or the idea gets the ax quicker than a Thanksgiving turkey.
