Regidar recently posted a request for links to experimental fics. I decided to just add a bookshelf, Experimental, and list my favorite and my own experimental stories there. (My stories will probably appear first, because I added
That most-peculiar book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, describes in Fit the Fourth how representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Philosophers, Sages, Luminaries, and other professional thinking persons confronted Deep Thought, the second greatest computer in the universe, when it threatened to find the answer to
Lots of cons have panels where people read bad fan-fiction for laughs. But they never have panels where people read good fan-fiction. So I'm going to propose one, at every con I go to.
3321061 That's Alice Cooper, one of the godfathers of heavy metal and a seriously cool dude. He was bigger than big in the 1970s, and was even on The Muppet Show. If you've heard the songs "School's Out" or "Welcome to My Nightmare," you've heard his music. If you haven't heard them, definitely track them down on YouTube or elsewhere; they're fun songs.
The Alice Cooper episode is great. Because Cooper was one of the first Metal guys, he was the subject of a lot of that early moral panic--you know, 'Heavy Metal is leading our children to worship Satan and commit suicide' stuff. His Muppet Show episode has him genially attempting to convince various muppets to sell their souls to the devil, among other things. He was obviously very self-aware and comes across as a pretty cool dude.
Trying to contaminate Alice Cooper with ponies?
I approve.
I'll say it:
"Welcome to my Night-Mare..."
That fuckin' guy, man.
