Holding off on chapter until i can look at it while actually awake.

I'm...Not quite sure how I feel right now. I'm tired though, so I won't post it just yet. Not without being able to check for errors while more awake. 7k that I just finished, with a serious desire to add at least one more chapter. It's mostly wrapped up. This monster is pretty much done.

And I don't know how I feel about that.

Update: I’m so sorry(not leaving, chill)

So first off I apologize for not posting much lately. I’m going to attempt to untangle some things in Sub and get that story finished before the year is out. Fate...I don’t know yet. I have half the next chapter but that been written and I’ve allowed myself to be distracted. I still visit the site almost daily on my phone to check for updates, but writing on Gary was the latest thing I

Been way too long since my last blog.

Hate to say this but as I've told other people on the site, Real Life comes first. I've been putting a lot of my focus into class-work after a bad start due to technical issues and have had to catch up. As of now, I'm just about there so hopefully I'll be able to relax and write again soon. This isn't to say i've gotten no writing done, but it's been on random stories like Outlander to Aspect and

So it turns out the site doesn’t like bonus chapters. I posted an extra chapter in the story Twilight’s Prank, but because the series is a stream of one-shots, I’d marked it complete after the chapter. I later realized I wanted to do something extra and added a bonus, but the story didn’t give any update notifications. So ya, if you liked the first bit, go check out the bonus: Celestia’s Retort.

What the actual fuck, guys. · 10:15pm Aug 4th, 2015

So I work hard for weeks on Substitute Demon, and it does ok, shows up on the front page a few times, yada yada. Then I post a 'smut for the sake of smut that I tacked a backstory onto' fic that I spent way to much time developing and it ends up number three on the featured page. What the actual fuck, guys. C'mon. I think I spent a grand total of ten hours on that story, if that, but I've spent several days total on substitute. I don't know if I should feel ashamed that I actually posted that, or should laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Besides, I thought the smut fics of a virgin were supposed to be laughed at for how unrealistic they are?

to tell the truth the smut fic is really good. It is well thought and it is in an unique setting, so it is very normal that it has a high rating

It's smut. Did you really expect anything else?

3295131 For authors like anonpencil, unideal, and distorted flare I kind of expect to see their latest stuff up there. For me, who has never done anything like that before? That's kind of scary.

Most of us are virgins here.

...but, it was Good smut...

I like both cause your a good author.

I don't know about anyone else, but I was looking for smut at the time I found your story. Plus, when I do a search for story, I always take out the Gore tags, because I don't like gore. Especially, in stories rated 'Mature'.

look i love The Substitute Demon, but colp sells

Haven't read the smut yet. Love Substitute Demon. Just remember, they're not perverts, they are your fanbase. :pinkiecrazy:

3295260 I don't see how those two things are mutually exclusive

Update: now at two o.O

So... What's the title of the smut fic, so I can avoid it?

Ah, of course. The reason I didn't see it was because I had left the filter in place. That means I don't have to know the name of the story after all, since I'll never see it!
Thanks for putting the proper tag in place, so the filter would work.

I don't know if I should feel ashamed that I actually posted that, or should laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Yes.

I hope you're not taking it personally. We both know that's exactly the kind of answer you were fishing for. :trollestia:

In might have being a fic that was inspired by something silly but the end result was well written man.:moustache:

As for your point on time you spent in the two stories that is actually very common.

Just look at Airstream for example, two years ago he had a two part story with nearly 400 thousand words combined where each part merely ranked about some 500 likes, while his one shot Minuette's Lesson with less than 5 thousand words become a huge success with over 1200 likes turning it in one of the top rated stories in the site.

It's simple really more people will read something that takes less time to read that's why so many fics with one to two thousand words reach the festure box all the time.

As for Airstream his story saga Lines and Webs it's now on it's fourth installment and now has reached over one thousand likes, Lines and Webs is a story that is in many ways far superior than Minnuette's Lesson but due to how much of a commitment it is to read, sadly it might be forever overshadowed by it's counter part.:ajsleepy:

So when can we expect additional chapters for Luna and Twilight? :scootangel:

Substitute Demon is one of my favorite stories on this site.

The Cost of Asylum is an entertaining funny short story that happens to contain smut. Even without the smut it would still be good.

You could easily have ended at
The purple alicorn took one look around the now much emptier throne room before she realized what had happened. Holding her fetlock over her snout, the alicorn sighed.
"Buck."
Luna, taking a seat beside her, raised an eyebrow at the outburst. "I believe it was fairly obvious what they were planning, Twilight. You do not need to speak it."
and it would still be just as good.

I think that's a good summary of how I would define a good "smut" story, that it's a good story with all of the smut removed.

From what people are writing, it seems I need to read this smut fic. Though reading through the descriptions of a couple of your stories, I feel I need to do a lot more reading... fuck me.

story is still featuring, good job

3298865 I know, I've got two stories up there atm

Just the mechanics of the heat system. Oneshots tend to get a lot of views in a short time from readers of the poster's multichapter stories, the heat generated from negative comments is just as high as from positive, and people are more likely to read a oneshot right away instead of putting it in Read Later.

:edit:
Not that I've read it yet... I was waiting on that feedback to my comment before 'killing with fire' or reading so it's in Read Later. I'm reading both Magic's Shadow and Substitute Demon so seeing you were the author made me question the red-flags. Both of those stories have humans and neither are that kind of human trash, they are actually pretty decent people.

3298903 answered, sorry. No, it's not rape. I won't go there. If at some point in the future I decide to, you can bet I'll mark it as such. It's a power-play fic.

Here's a little tip. People on this tend to love human x pony.

Edit: Wait... I never read this story.

3295156 Quite.
It's smut that in principle could spark a whole epic.
The setting is open, familiar enough yet strange to be novel and exciting.

Do the ponies go on to other lands?
Is it slice-of-life in a growing city.
Is it adventure - with them banding together against an outside foe.

Way ahead of your average 'Celestia bangs random guard #27'.

The only comparable thing that comes to mind is 'Equestria Apocalyptica' (very, very, very, very, very NSFW). Yes, it's clop, but it's clop with an epic background and a story that could go forever.

Honestly, it really depends on the quality, if it's really good for both stories readers will want to read both of them, maybe not always the same readers, but readers will flock to both stories. Longer stories with much backstory though will accumulate people in it for the long run while a smut for the sake of smut fiction will rack up the number of people interested in a quick, steamy short story.

Trust me though, there have been stories I've read that evolved from just a smut for smut's sake fiction to a really detailed and engaging story, Jungle Fever (A shipfic between Fluttershy and Zecora) springs to mind when I think about it
