Oh Look, It's Thursday · 1:06pm Jul 9th, 2015

Two things of interest this time around.

First, I've decided to move my weekly blog to Sundays. Why Sundays? Because that's the one day of the week I'm guaranteed off, and thus I'll probably be in a much better mood for this kind of thing. I might move my review day as well, just to spread out the activity through the week. I'm more comfortable with doing reviews on a work day because, in truth, said reviews are typically written and set up in GDocs long before I actually have to post them. Yeah, review days are pretty easy; just need to set up the pictures and I'm done.

My second major topic relates to the reviews themselves. A recent request made me realize that I'm handling my reading of stories with sequels all wrong. In the past when a story had a sequel, I would just add the sequel to my RiL and wait for it to wind its merry way to the top of the list. Now that I have 250+ stories on that list, however, it takes a very, very long time for any one story to get to me (a story added right now will have to wait a full 58 weeks for me to get to it!).

Of course, sequels are better read when you have the content of the original fresh in your head, so something needs to be done about this. Starting now, every time I read a story with a sequel, if I decide I'm interested in reading said sequel, I will place it on a special list in my review schedule. So long as the list is populated, every week will feature one review of a sequel to a story read previously. This doesn't count past stories I've already read that are sequels; it'll take too much effort for me to locate all of them and create a sequel list from them, so I'll just let them run the usual course. Also, if the sequel is incomplete, it will instead go to my Incompletes folder and have to go through all the normal waiting that regular stories do.

Although I'm starting the list now, I already have my schedule set up to August 10th, so that's when the first of the sequel stories will show up.

Oh, third thing.

I have decided to enter Skeeter the Lurker's Switcheroo! contest. I've already finished the rough draft of my entry and am just waiting for my pre-readers to give it a run through. The contest ends on the 15th, so regardless of whether they're done or not I'll be posting on the 14th. This one's going to be very different from my usual style, sticks to the show's interpretation of characters, takes place in Season 1 and is intended to appear as an episode in and of itself. In other words, while the story is simple, I really challenged myself with some writing limitations. It's an interesting little experiment, at the very least.

Next step: expanding Sweet to Eat.

I got about halfway through it last night, so I'll hopefully finish it this night.

I already went over your changes and accepted most of them, with a tweak here or there.

Can't wait for your entry to the cintest, should be a treat!

Sounds Awesome Paul, can't wait

That sounds like an interesting fic, and a wildly different one from your usual fare.

I really should hop back on that Sweetie_Belle sequel...

Off to read Swooty! :D
