Is it for real, or is it a troll? I don't know and don't care. The creepy music over silent video instead of narration is the final touch of genius. You may wanna watch this at 1.25x speed, though. After reading the comments, I became a follower of Satan.

I checked out that tent behind Celestia in the Zap Apple episode. That Illuminati symbol really is there.

horizon just published a thing that I call a spin-off from "Fugue State." We all might as well give in and read it now. All the cool ponies are doing it. I've only read 4 of the stories, and 3 of them are great: "The Clattering Crash of Destiny" (AugieDog) , "The Badge" (Orbiting Kettle), and "4th District Court, Canterlot, 11:35 a.m." (horizon)

However, throughout much of the Middle Ages, the accepted Christian symbol for the Holy Spirit was not the dove, but the unicorn.

Which means the doctrine of immaculate conception somewhat foreshadows Twilestia.

(I don't know if it's still possible to be burned at the stake for heresy, but if it is, feel free to make s' mores)

This video has enlightened me. I will now watch My Little Pony to learn how to better serve our dark lord beyond the abyss.

Watching this made me realize...pre-alicorn Twilight is totally cuter.

That was frickin' hilarious. And sadly, thanks to Poe's Law, I can't be sure its a troll.

It always amuses me when people complain about people turning to devil worship and then point out pagan symbology.

Though there are some people who actually worship Celestia.

This was the best.

And Spike, of course, is The Dragon. I think we all know to what Dragon I refer ...

Lucifer. Old Nick. SATAN!!!! Aaaahhhh!!!! :pinkiegasp: :moustache:

Wouldn't that be the doctrine of the virgin birth, rather than the Immaculate Conception?

What?

Taken from the Friendship is Pagan tumblr, here's a magic spell to commune with Celestia about friendship problems!

The spell’s different from what I usually come up with and I blame my twin’s influence as he helped me come up with it. It’s devotional in nature, and like most devotional rituals the intended object of change is the operator. I took the approach of trying to mimick the show and putting meaning into it along the way. The general structure can be loosely divided into three parts, a declaration of the friendship problem meant to give the struggle context and order (life isn’t usually neat and tidy like a story but isn’t that the whole reason why one uses symbolism?), a symbolic closing of that chapter in our lives in which one declares what they’ve learned from the problem, and an affirmation to the self and Celestia that they’ve learned a lesson.

For the ritual you’ll want a candle, something to record with, and whatever else you choose to use if you like altars and such. The first step is a declaration of struggles. I like my brother’s idea on it, that it should be similar in concept to a nordic boast. That’s not in the modern sense of being boastful, but that it should require total honesty of struggles, pain, and truimph because anything other than complete honesty is an affront to the gods. This causes one to relive the pain and struggle. However, it simutaneously distances one from the struggle by putting it into a narrative structure with a beginning, middle, and end. The emphasis should be on the emotions and experience associated with the problem.

Next is a step my brother suggested, connecting with a pony guide. He suggests connecting with whichever pony you feel could deal with the problem the best astrally. Personally, I’m a tad headblind and inexperienced with the astral, so I prefer the idea of symbol contemplation associated with a pony. Either method is intended to connect the problem with something beyond you, something universal and archetypal. This gives new insight into the issue and allows one to see the problem as something that isn’t limited to yourself or your friends, but reflected in the universe.

The next step is a dictation or writing down the friendship problem. This should be something brief in a manner after the ending of an episode. This is dictated to Spike who represents a spiritual or magical assistant and messenger here. I really like the idea of using voice recognition software and printing off the sheet. You could even get to correct exasperatingly correct “Spike’s” mistakes in transcription. It just seems like a super cute image to me. Keep in mind to dictate the problem the way the ponies do, in more general terms while keeping responsibility. This isn’t about emotional release (that’s step one),it’s meant as a missive to a respected teacher. Next is to send the scroll to Celestia. This is pretty simple, just burn stuff like in most fun and good rituals ;P

A few things about the assumptions that I use in the spell. By using Spike as a messenger, the implication is that Celestia is seperated from the operator. I went with Spike as a messenger both because that is the pattern generally followed in the show, and I really like Spike.

As for Celestia, There is no explicit response from her. One sends the message anyway, with faith that it will arrive. This is a setup that is rare in Paganism but common in Christian Mysticism. I understand that many people may want to alter the ritual to a more Wiccan or Neo Pagan paradigm, but I would advise that just because a concept is utilized in christianity, doesn’t make it not powerful.

Spelling is as it was in the original.

If this show were really as innocent as people would like to believe, then why would such perverted and disgusting images be made of them.

:rainbowlaugh: Ah, such innocence. Assuming it's sincere.

And yet he's subservient to Pagan Sun Goddess and the Astronomer-Witch, and makes cookies for Gay Pride Horse, Wiccan Horse, Raver Horse, and his love, who give her body unto his aspect as the Serpent.

Conclusion: Everyone is Satan in Equestria. Except Discord, who is a Lovecraftian entity who took a left turn at Carcosa and ended up in the wrong mythos.

It is always fun to watch this stuff, and it reminds me of the people who search for hidden satanic messages in the cover art of Ronnie James Dio's albums.

Anyway they forgot to say that everypony is NAKED when they party, which clearly is a reference to witch dances.

By the way, a fun fact (and today almost useless trivia) is that the upturned cross is a sign of humility, the eye in the triangle is a classical image for god, winged skulls were all the rage in some cathedrals, a lot of monasteries and churches are metal as fuck (look up Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini) and excomunication can be as easy as not paying church taxes in Germany (but you don't get a fancy letter for it).

Silly Horse. 6 + 6 + 6 = 18. lrn basic math plz.

2993299 You know who invented math? The Greeks. And you know what else they invented? HOMOSEXUALITY and PAGAN GODS!

It's not worship--my desk is decorated like this by... total coincidence.

Right. Because of St. Peter. :scootangel:

Cool! :moustache:
(Thank the Greek for lesbians!)

It is with great amusement that I look for little hidden things here and there in animation.

You may recall that in the very first episode of Season 1 we had a Lovecraft reference, no less. "Nightmare Moon will return when the stars are right!" Iä! Iä!

And we have this music video, in which you can see around 0:22 that there's an Elder Sign on either side of the stage:

So, why not this too?

True; legginess is anti-correlated with cuteness, which is why the complaint about mid-season Twilight episodes since "Magical Mystery Cure" is that she isn't the real protagonist.

I'm (almost) completely serious. Cuteness is wrapped up in iconic abstraction, especially in the context of an aesthetic like MLP's. I could blather on about all the things this affects in MLP -- it's a big part of why the default avatar on this site makes a distinct assumption about the user's gender that probably isn't reflected by the site demographics -- but suffice to say that Twilight's height bothers me in a way that her wings don't.

Also Equestria Girls is ugly and people who think large-eyed cartoons promote anorexia are cartoon illiterate.

3081625 That's a really good point, but I'm in favor of long-term character arcs like growing up. I just wish it'd been done in a way that (a) made sense, and (b) milked it for drama, for Faust's sake!

Eh, scratch that. Growing up would be a good arc. Becoming a goddess is not.

My preferred interpretation is not to come to terms with Twilight being a goddess; it's to decide that alicorns were never goddesses. Sure, it looked that way in season 1, with two immortal yin-yangin' sisters controlling the heavens themselves, but now we know:
-Alicorns come from mortal ponies (canon is waffley on whether this applies to Celestia and Luna, but the "Mirror, Mirror" arc in the comics really strongly implies it)
-Controlling the sun and moon is within the realm of mortal ability ("Hearth's Warming Eve")
-Age spells exist
-Alicorns have ultra double mega magic
Conclusion: Celestia isn't inherently immortal, she just really wanted to see her sister again (and keep Equestria on track in the meantime).

More interesting maybe is why we tend to think of alicorns as divine. It seems pretty obvious to adult fans that Celestia -- who is impossibly old and inscrutable, who cares for Twilight but gives her autonomy by forcing her to move out, who wields both great power over temporal matters like running the country and mysterious, distant ones like raising the sun -- is supposed to be some sort of goddess, and in some ways that applies, but I think it's easy for us to miss how the target audience is meant to see her: as a mother figure. (I don't want to conflate mother figures with actual mothers, though; Eternal said all there is to say on that.) Bronies see her transcendence as godly, but really it's just that she's the only real adult in Equestria, and being a sun goddess is a secondary consequence of that.

Which you probably realized or have your own opinions on, but I've been sitting on that idea so nyeah.

As long as I'm using these comments to dump opinions: my verdict on Princess Twilight is that she's more or less one step forward and two steps back, dramatically. She works better than I think we'd all feared, and opens up some actual new and interesting possibilities, but the change breaks a lot, wasn't set up well, and wasn't especially necessary; I really disagree with people who think the show's formula was "stale" and alicornification was the way to fix that.
