    Apologies for lack of Updates

As many may have become aware, aside from the latest chapter to I'm Peni Parker. What the FUCK? I haven't updated any of my fics since last week, despite saying in my latest update for Peni that i intended to return to posting fic updates.

knowing about Spring Breakdown is a serious advantage

Something occurred, like FULLY occurred to me over the week, specially Wednesday morning (1:45am) as i was brushing my teeth before heading for bed.

We're back... but it's likely slow going.

So, in answer to the MANY people who keep asking when i'm going to update any of my fics despite my having a blog that explains WHY they've ALL been left unupdated over the last 3-4 months, my library is open again, so i should be able to finally get back to writing.

plug and thoughts on season 5 premiere. If you haven't watched the primere and don't want spoilers, don't read this blog · 1:04am Apr 9th, 2015

What did i just say? If you don't want spoilers before watching it yourself, DO NOT READ THIS!

Anyway, i'll admit i was very intrigued by the premiere. However, is the show just trying to find new ways of making its watching feel uneasy? Seriously, the finale for season 4 had someone draining the magic out of everypony and this season we had a pony actually taking a pony's cutie mark from them, practically ripping a piece of their soul out and making them start to think in an equal way. That's just damn creepy.

Sorry, Tirek, but Starlight Shimmer has beaten you in the Villain Doing Something Totally Wrong and Creepy category. Congrats, Starlight, you bitch.

A mean, this was just too creepy. Also, if Starlight had wanted to keep Twilight and the others from causing problems, she shouldn't have stolen their marks in the first place. She could have threatened them, but instead she just jumped in and took their marks without their asking. I mean.... That's just... There are no words for how morally wrong that was.

It's clear everypony else in that town had CHOSEN to give up their marks. They gave them up willingly, if not by being tricked into it. Yet she honestly thought it was right to steal the mane six's cutie marks?!

Also, why didn't twilight and they others just try to escape right away. The other ponies could've probably been overpowered and a distraction would've been enough to keep Starlight busy long enough for them to get away before she could use her magic. Then they could've gone to Canterlot and gotten the princesses help. It would've been so much easier.

Yes, i see the lesson that it was teaching by having them get the town on their side, but wouldn't it have been easier for Celestia to fix things?

Then again, maybe not. If Celestia had learned what Starlight did to Twilight, one of two outcomes might've occured. One, Celestia goes super nova and goes after Starlight, or two, and grimdark ending, Celestia and Luna get their cutie marks taken from them, throwing all of equestria into turmoil...

Wait a minute. If Discord can sense magical imbalances, why didn't HE deal with Starlight. It would've been a snap (snap of his fingers, that is) to open the vault, give everypony back their marks and send Starlight to the Canterlot dungeons with a magical inhibitor on her horn.

ARGH! I am so torn on this opening. I both love it and get annoyed by it at the same time.

Phew. Well, that's enough of my ranting.

As a final note, I've started a group for fics based around my fic, Living Nightmare. You can find it HERE. It for fics that are based around Living Nightmare. They can take place during, before or even after Living Nightmare. There's already one aside from my own in there and i'd love for more to join and bring any fics that match the criteria with them.

Please join and have fun.

Later everypony

On the Discord issue, I don't know if it was a strong enough imbalance in magic for him to notice. Unlike Tirek, Starlight was taking a ponies magic away entirely and pooling it in one individual. While she was taking a vital core of the magic away, which in turn seemed to limit what magic a pony could use, it was only a portion, and it still remained independent, though isolate in the vault.

On the other hand, even if he could sense the imbalance, he doesn't have the motivation to do anything about it. Unlike the princesses, he's not actively seeking to protect ponies or even harm them. Going after Tirek was tracking imbalances because he was asked to do it. Before he was asked, he had left Tirek alone to his own devices. Just like how you don't go to answer every phone that rings, Discord might just acknowledge an imbalance but not go after it.

Of course, I might be understanding it wrong, so...

Something to note is that the spell never truly made them all equal. I mean the pagasi were still flying around when the earth ponies were weakened and ii don't remember any of the unicorns using magic. That right there should have been a big tip-off that something was up with Ms. Glimmer now that I think about it.

2962534 he would have had motivation though. She stole Fluttershy's cutie mark.

Yes, i see the lesson that it was teaching by having them get the town on their side, but wouldn't it have been easier for Celestia to fix things?

Yes it would be easier but doing so would result in a deus ex machina, the epitome of lazy writing.

Starlight Glimmer mentioned that the Staff of Sameness was "One of Nine" so I think there are eight other artifacts to be found, perhaps uncovered by the map. And that will be the driving force behind the coming season, I believe.

2962564 Something also to note is the town isn't built on equality, its built on conformity under the mask of equality.

2962689 It was also mentioned that the Staff was just a stick she found. She just used the name of an obscure unicorn to make it seem better and cover the fact that she hadn't given up her mark.

I'm more worried by the fact that the Staff of Sameness looked a lot similar to the Lance of Longinus from Neon Genesis Evangelion. With that kind of power, she could cause Instrumentality, which, in a sense, is a WAY worse version of her Equality. At least with her version, you're still you biologically. With Instrumentality, everyone is so equal, you don't know where "you" end and "someone else" begins. I'm starting to think that the writers are watching way too much anime. DBZ fight in last seasons finale, the NGE thing in this opener.

True, but you never know. A broken clock is right twice a day, and coincidences are like candy to shows like these.

That right there should have been a big tip-off that something was up with Ms. Glimmer now that I think about it.

When I watched it, I got 16 red flags before the whole trap scene, that something is messed up in the village. 15 if you do not count the 4th wall breaking by Miss Glimmer.

I can partially agree with you here.

One this opener shows in the simplest and plains the evil of COmmunism. Forced sameness yet those in power are not the same as everyone else.

Issues with this story is this. How can a unicorn have enou7gh magic on her own to take the cutie mark from the Element of magic herself, who is also an alicorn. If the staff was real I could by it but it just being her magic just :facehoof: Then there's the fact of the map. Why cool the question becomes. WHY NOW!? THe girls have sat on the thrones before so why just now that map appears? Starlight seemed to have had that town for at least a couple years so it wasn't a recent thing.

Again DHX shows us a good moral to teach but screw up the delivery. Why not as bad as Mare Do Well in this, it's certainly a flaw in this story.
