Indeed it is.

Are you color-deficient? :rainbowhuh:

Also:

2834315
What color do you think it is?

2834317

White with gold lace trim.

2834319
And thus the debate continues.... seriously, half the internet is arguing about this right now. It's something to do with differences in people's eyes apparently. I see blue/black.

2834321

Huh. I mean, the white does have a bit of a bluish tint to it, but that's because of the lighting in the room. I can't see why y'all can't see the gold in the lace. :twilightoops: Life is weird.

2834323
2834324

This makes my brain hurt... it's blue and black. No matter what angle, what lighting, looking at it on different devices, looking at pictures taken of printouts of it.. always blue and black.

2834325

It doesn't look blue and black to me, even though the article says it is. :unsuresweetie: And trust me, I know blue and black...

2834328
Well even that article 2834324 linked.. I see 3 blue and black dresses there with different white balance settings.

2834331

... Are you sure you're not color-deficient?

2834333

That is blue and black. None of the other pictures are to me.

2834334
Are you sure you're not? This is driving me nuts that not everyone sees blue and black. I thought it was a massive trolling thing at first.

2834338

I get a vision test every year. I'm 100% sure I don't have it.

I'm so confused as to why people see this dress differently...

Yep. Blue and black, through and through.

2834334

Same dress.

No, really.

Something to do with cones and rods, is the most interesting speculation I've heard so far.

2834391

Oh, I know it's the same dress. My brains are still all over the floor, though. :rainbowwild:

The rods/cones thing is probably bullshit. The image is merely extremely oversaturated and it causes an ambiguity resolved by the amount of light the dress is perceived to be under. Look at the CIECAM02 color appearance model. Please note it's an old model from 2002, and it doesn't use perceived lighting, but the brightness of the background instead.

When I first saw the image, it was blue and black in harsh lighting. I scrolled down, scrolled back up, and it was white and gold in dim lighting, despite the bright background. I couldn't see it as blue and black for a few minutes until I squinted, and then I was able to switch my perception back and forth. This image was very fortuitous; I haven't seen a greater ambiguity. Anyway, my ability to switch perceptions back and forth like any other illusion is a big indicator the phenomenon isn't biological.

Looks blue and black to me. Even the one where it's white balanced to look white and gold, it is still clearly blue and black, especially when looking at the lower section, away from the light flare.

yep. definitely black and blue.

2834413
mad?:trollestia:

2834333
The fuck.

I saw this on Fark a couple hours ago. It was obviously white and gold. I couldn't begin to comprehend how anyone would think of it as blue and black. Then I saw it posted on this blog. Still obviously white and gold.

Then I hit that image link, and went "Okay, that's obviously blue and black. I wonder if I can see what causes the differences if I scroll back to the top image and why is the top image obviously blue and black now?"

Seconding 2834343 on going mad.

NOW IT IS BLUE AND BLACK.

DID YOU CHANGE THE PICTURE?

2834461

2834324

NOW ALL THE PICTURES ARE BLUE AND BLACK

WHAT DID YOU PEOPLE DO TO MY BRAIN

2834481

DID YOU CHANGE THE PICTURE?

No.

Keep an eye on the URL of the image.

Luz

I see blue and gold D:

This whole blog is just about trolling isn't it?:twilightsheepish:

Isn't it? :twilightoops:

2834509 Clearly the ambiguous color of the dress is the cause of the mole people who live under the floor. Remember, they grow inside, so only you can prevent sock fires.

2834509

...

:facehoof:

I should have fucking known. :derpytongue2:

You got me good. Nice one.

Aaaaaaaaaaah! :raritydespair:

There are four lights! :flutterrage:

It's objectively blue and black, but yeah, I see white and gold too.

Dress, you are such a flip flop, blue and black one minute, white and gold the next.

derpicdn.net/img/2012/11/14/151928/medium.jpg :derpytongue2:

Man, so many people say this dress is either blue and black, or gold and white. For me, though, all I can see is purple and brown! :derpyderp1:

3050616 I thought it was purple and gold?

I think someone punched it. I don't see white or gold at all.
