So Much To Do · 1:18am Nov 14th, 2014

Lots of things to talk about this time around. At what point did I suddenly become so busy with FIMFiction stuff? Anyway, Equestria Daily, an update on the circumstances of the Them AU and a notice on reviews after the jump (assuming I'm doing it right, that is).

Equestria Daily
As some of you may be aware, The Gentle Nights: Audience of One is now featured on Equestria Daily! This is only my second story to achieve that goal… though in all fairness, it’s only the fourth story I’ve submitted to the site. I have this view that EqD is only looking for good stories, and I’m not going to submit a story that I don’t think is great. Still, the fact that AoO was accepted – on the first try, no less – is big news for me. Not necessarily that it’s featured on EqD (which is great news, don’t get me wrong), but in that it’s indicative of my own improvement as a writer.

Cerulean Voice and I devoted months of work trying to get Trixie vs. Equestria accepted to EqD. It was a lot of work that really paid off. Now – with a little help prereaders/editors Starlight Nova, Mercury Gilado and Absolution – I’ve achieved the same feat in a single try. While giving credit to my team for pointing out my stupid mistakes, I also take a bit of pride in the thought I have personally developed my writing to make that possible.

And I’d have never done so without the constructive feedback of my readers and editors. thanks to all of you who actually offer feedback. You're all awesome.

The Them Universe
For some time, me and RainbowBob have been scheming to conjure up expansions to the Them AU spawned by his terrific zombie one shot, Feed Them. this ultimately resulted in three sequels to the story written by yours truly: Guide Them, Hunt Them, and Entertain Them. Bob was going to write three stories of his own for the series, followed by our ultimate collaborative effort to end the franchise.

As many of you know, Bob was in a rather bad car accident recently. Fortunately, it looks like he’s going to be fine aside from some rather nasty injuries like a broken leg. However, he has decided to stay away from FIMFiction for a while and focus on his family and career, and to that I say good for him. The site won’t be the same without everyone’s favorite spongeguy, but nobody can take offense to such a choice.

However, I hate to start something and not finish it, and I’m not going to let it happen this time. After a few brief PMs, RainbowBob has agreed to let me take over the Them-verse entirely. As soon as one of my current projects is completed I will be finishing the work we started, with Bob’s blessing (Oh, I feel anointed! It’s rather gross, actually.). Thus will I finish the story Bob started – Becoming Them – and move on to write Worship Them, Origin of Them and, last but most certainly not least, End of Them.

I guarantee you, I’ll be having fun the entire time.

TvE Review Incoming
Long, long ago I discovered the extremely in-depth and interesting reviews of one Amy Clockwork. Always seeking quality commentary on my work, I submitted Trixie vs. Equestria to her site. Weeks passed, then months with no response. Eventually I sorta forgot about the entire ordeal.

Until I get notice from Cerulean that TvE is now slated to be the very next story in her review queue! I am very excited about this and I’m really looking forward to seeing the results. Unfortunately, there’s no indication of exactly when the review will happen, not have I received any notice from Amy that she’s begun reading (which, if my information is correct, she always sends).

Still, I shall await the review with bated breath.

Frequency
I’ve decided to break my own rule and begin work on that Vinyl story that came to me this past weekend. I’m already a chapter in and have selected my three editors for the project. The story, as you may have gathered, will be called Frequency. Also featured will be Flash Sentry, Luna and maybe cameos of Twilight and Octavia. Maybe. I don’t expect Frequency to be very long – my current guess is 50k – and I’m thinking I’ll hold off on publication until the entire story is finished. Not 100% certain about that decision just yet.

Fortunately, it doesn’t appear that this third project will interfere with my releasing Audience of One and Reddux the Tyrant on a bi-weekly basis. Speaking of…

Audience of One
I dare say that this coming chapter may be one of the most challenging I’ve ever tried to write, speaking entirely from a logistical standpoint. As those reading the story might have guessed, the next chapter of AoO will cross over with the Season 2 episode Luna Eclipsed and, yes, will share some scenes. I’ve only made a serious attempt at this on one occasion: in No Heroes Book I, when Octavia visited Ponyvile during the events of Secret of My Excess.

That one was easy. This one… not so much. I have to pick what scenes to include, have to write those scenes in ways that don’t conflict with the narrative and style of my own story, and have to make sure I handle the scenes in a way that pushes the overarching story forward. Then there’s matching the dialogue, maintaining certain little background details and (most important of all) finding a way to keep Luna’s in-show voice in tune with the voice I’ve established for her in my own story.

Simply put, I’ve got my work cut out for me. But y’know what? That’s okay. Challenges like this are the best kind of writing experiences, and I’m looking forward to seeing if I can pull it off.

Has anyone else ever tried to deal with this kind of thing? Did you pull it off or totally bomb it? I’m abruptly very curious.

What? for me that's about average. :ajsmug:

What? I'm used to my multi-chaptered stories stretching out into the 100k range, so I'm actually doing pretty good here.

Also, I kinda miss typewriters.

I'm not really clear on your question. If you're asking if Amy clockwork will be reading and reviewing Twilight's Inferno, I can honestly say that I don't have a clue. There was one guy *looks at the comments below* who submitted a single story in a series and ended up getting all three stories in said series reviewed without asking for it. That doesn't guarantee Clockwork will be doing the same thing with my TvE universe, though.

Speaking of Cerulean and Twilight's Inferno, he wrote a pretty comprehensive review of that story for his blog, if you'd like to have an idea of what you're getting yourself into. It's also got spoilers, but he blanks out the significant ones. If the tags and extra warning make you anxious, give his review a read to help with your final decision.

TvE Review

Is it a written review or will it be a you tube review? Also considering this is one of my favourite stories in Fim Fiction could you please give us the link to the review when it's posted?

I kinda want to reflect my own thoughts with the opinion of a professional reviewer.

"Hhhhaaaooooooow?" With a few personal quirks, such as having a motto of "Go Big or Go Home." Why write a 5-10k one shot when the potential is there for a 75-100k epic? And the potential is always there, especially if you're like me and can't resist looking for the methods. Every one shot I write is a strain on my mind, because I always know it could have been so much bigger.

It will be a written review, and yes, once the review finally pops up I will be providing a link on my blog. Problem is, it could be weeks or even months before she gets to it. :fluttercry:

Congratulations on the Feature!

But I think you should at least try to send in a few more stories. You've sent what, three? Granted, stories like the original Gentle Nights and the Weed are a little on the rough side, but Tyrant and Foundations have a solid shot, I think.

I don't think I have even 25k with all my stories combined, and you're saying that 50k is little for one story... יבה

Congrats on the feature, though, and I'm looking forward to the new story.

I sent Tyrant, which didn't make it. I did not send Foundations, though I agree it would have a solid chance of making it. I may try it, but the story's already got so much attention as it is... then again, I suppose there's no such thing as too much attention. We shall see.

...have you checked my overall wordcount? Seriously, look at my bio in the corner. :trollestia:

אין לי מושג למה אתה מתכוון.
Also,
.अधिक अच्छा बहुत .इधर जाना

Yeah, probably butchered the grammar there.

2596882 Actually, that was really good. (Except that you called me a boy (אתה); I can't figure out if you actually think I'm a boy or if it's just a mistake.) Also, there was a ל in front of מה which made the sentence "I have no clue to what you mean" instead of "I have no clue what you mean." And you used מתכוון instead of התכוונת, but that's it.

And my computer is being dumb and won't translate the Hindi.

I pretty much meant "Have mercy!" (Jokingly) You've written so much more than me that it isn't even funny. (It's actually hilarious, and if I were in a laughing mood, I would have been laughing like my best friend after the grass hats incident.)

None of the mistakes are intentional. I don't actually know Hindi and have to rely 100% on information from translators. so all those little nuances (such as gender) I have no idea about. Seriously, I'm stumbling in the dark. Heck, when I tried to translate אוי... לא בלי, I got things about butterflies. I was clueless.

So my immediate curiosity comes in the form of: "How do you know so much about Hindi grammar?" Also, any criticisms relating to the titles of the chapters? I would welcome any corrections you might have.

2597062 I'm speaking Hebrew, not Hindi. I'm part Israeli, and I grew up speaking Hebrew, but I do not speak, write, or understand Hindi. I'd have to go to one of my friends for that.

Epic :facehoof:. Way to go, Jeremy, you just revealed to the world your colossal linguistic ignorance. How is it that I didn't even notice I was translating Hebrew and not Hindi? I need to bang my head against my super-expensive keyboard a few times. If you'll give me a moment...

Stupid me is stupid. :derpytongue2: Anyway, now I know, and hopefully I won't be making such a blatant error again anytime soon.

Holy balls you've been busy...

Don't look at me like that!

But yeah, congrats on the feature (again, like you need more exposure, HA)

Sad to hear about Bob (I haven't actually read any of his stuff... Should probably do that)

I'm kinda half not really sold on that Vinyl story (HiE doesn't do it for me)

And yeah, you've written a lot of words on this site...
Too many words...

Ah, and there's the deception. It's not really HiE, even though a human is deeply involved in the story. I mean, really, do you think I'd do the same thing everyone else does? Okay, granted, it's possible someone thought of this before me, but I haven't heard of the story that does it.

"Does what?"

Excellent question, but you'll have to wait like everyone else. :trollestia:

I gotta be unique 'cause I don't want to read something that isn't. If I have zero interest in HiE #3987658123, why should I expect anyone else to be?

Hence why I can't write anything... If it ain't a first, I don't want it...

Ah, but it's not just about being first. Sometimes it's okay to be 100th, if you can display it in a way nobody else has before. Or, at the very least, in a way very few people have tried.
