    SnarkCast Interview Over

I was nervous at first, and I did ramble a bit in places, but it was still a lot of fun to do. Once Muggonny has edited the video, it'll be uploaded to the SnarkCast YouTube channel; I'll post another blog when that happens.

    Q&A Round Twenty-Eight!

I don't know why I want to do another one, but I figured it's been long enough, so why not? Only this time, I will be doing something slightly different.

First of all, you have until June 22nd to send in 10 questions; they can be addressed to me, or any character from any of my stories. Send your questions to me in a PM, making sure you use 'Q&A' as the subject.

RealityCheck, everyone's (least) favourite ranter, has now focused his attention towards me — saying that Button Mash Goes To A Slumber Party isn't a story because it 'gets to the conflict and stops.'

Don't believe me? Take a look at this, and see for yourself. I made sure to post a comment stating what I have stated a million times already: that the story will be extended once the UKoE Writing Contest I wrote it for is over — and that he would have known that if he'd read the goddamn Author's Notes.

Wow. That is more pathetic than a one-legged puppy trying to chase a ball. I know they say not to feed trolls but you can't help feeling just a little bad while watching them flail about as they starve.

The guy needed to be put right.

2301393
What he needs is a swift knee or twelve to the testicles but you can't give those over the internet.

Yet.

Conflict - Button Mash does not want to go to the slumber party preferring to stay on his games all day long.

Resolution - Button Mash is forced to go to the slumber party, has a nice time and grows closer to the Crusaders. And reveals a secret that gives room for further expansion.

I hypothesise that RealityCheck misinterpreted the admission of a crush by Button Mash as the conflict, which is of course, left open.

2301394

I believe the government is working on it.

2301417

Why didn't I think of it like that?

2301422 How did you see it when you wrote it then? :duck:

2301426

I actually didn't realise that stories had to follow a certain ruleset about conflict and whatnot. When I wrote this, I just saw it as a silly little one-shot — which it won't be for much longer. :twilightblush:

2301429 Thank goodness, I though I was the only serious author who didn't have all these 'rules' in their head. :twilightsheepish: I look forward to seeing this extended.

To be honest I think the story is fine the way it is. The conclusion was unexpected and fell short, but I felt that was the entire point of the story.

I'm curious how you found out about it. (I also admit curiosity about what he would have to say about my story. :twilightoops:)

Dan

I love RC's fics.

Alas, he doesn't react well to civil, but contrary opinions.

Much like Leo X flipping his shit in response to the the 95 Theses, even though, as reviewing the Exsurge Domine suggests, he clearly didn't bother reading them too closely.

Don't stress it. There are exceptions of course, but generally speaking the only bad publicity is non-existent publicity.

I looked up the story and read it directly because of his post.

2301530 I also can't help but wonder how you earned this guys attention (attention in this definition meaning ire) It seems a bit odd just given how many stories there are on fimfiction. :rainbowhuh:

2301564

He probably saw it during its time in the featured box.

Honestly, I felt the same. It really does feel like the setup to a story rather than a story in its own right. I'm glad you are going to do more. I did miss the author's notes, though did you add those later?

I imagine the fact it is marked as 'complete' is confusing people.

2301636

It's only marked as complete because of the contest, since I don't want anyone to think I submitted an incomplete story. As it stands, it works out rather well — it's either a cliffhanger ending, or the launching point for even more shenanigans. All depends on how you look at it.

And yes, I added that to the Author's Notes later. At the time of submission, I had no plans to continue... but I guess the public have made their demands quite clear.

2301718

Gotcha. I read it early, I see you've expanded it as well. Look forward to seeing the rest!

I do not want him to come near my stories.

If he can criticize your stories that are actually good, I don't want him to look and rant about my horrible stories. :facehoof:

Why is this guy still blog-worthy?

Hmmmm was his blog made before or after your expansion to the story?

2304138 Then... I'm quite astounded. I mean sure, it doesn't strictly follow his story progression graph... curse... thing, but it's still an enjoyable read.

i got put through the grinder by one of these kind of people just for having "IDEAS" and I told them they were full of it for shooting down story ideas before they were even born.

Keep at it cause just because he follows some dang recipe for stories.I say, its your kitchen anyway, cook it however you want to, and if he does not think it follows the recipe for a good cupcake, er story tell him he can just NOT READ IT.

Ive read a lot of authors that totally ignore such rules, if people must follow any type of guideline created by another they are living in a world where they allow someone else to dictate what they can do.

Before you get angry, yes I know this blog post is ancient, but the same thing has just happened to me. :ajsmug: RealityCheck has just turned his angry ranting upon my little fic. I couldn't be happier. :yay: You know you've done well when people are willing to write several lengthy comments telling you why you're fic is wrong in every way, shape and form. :trollestia:
