and the discussion devolves from there.

Its fanfiction. Someone, somewhere, is going to find these invisible "connections" that totally means X has the hots for Y. Or sometimes, there isn't any connection and they do it anyways. Fanfiction started the whole "Slash" thing, and I'm pretty sure Star Trek is one of those early examples with people shipping

It is obvious you must be the source of drama news on fimfic. To make sure this happens, how about keeping a comment box open to new drama suggestions? Shit blows up on a fic, you report it. An author acts like a whiny cunt, you point it out to everyone. Shit goes down, you're the first there to take a whiff of it and let the rest of us know what flavor it's gonna be.
I don't really know why RealityCheck wastes so many words airing such illinformed opinions.

But Realitycheck does state (severely overstate actually) a point. I'm religious, but quite tolerant of the les/gay community (I regularly chat with Babs Seed 72 Oh hai 2266083). Of course, since I am religious, I don't think its perfectly alright, but that's another story.
However, its difficult for me as a religious person to be slandered by people who call me a homophobe, intolerant etc. I can sympathize with his position, though I really am annoyed at the way he expresses it. (gives us religious peeeps a bad name don't ya know).
But still... this Fimfiction drama is far too entertaining to miss up. Meesa follow. (and thank Rainbowbob for pointing me over here while you're at it).

There are many religious people of many different backgrounds who are tolerant and perhaps even supportive of LGBT equality (though I'm an entirely unrepentant atheist, I know quite a few both online and in real life). It's an admirable thing, I think.
But in this instance, as in most others where RealityCheck goes off the rails like a complete tool, he's really sort of brought this on himself. He has no idea how to word his grievances in such a way that he doesn't look like a complete twit. His reputation here is entirely deserved. You really just have to go through his blog for like fifteen minutes and you'll come across a number of peculiar little opinions written in a rather incendiary fashion deliberately or otherwise. And it is all the sort of asinine shit that would be better suited to WorldNetDaily, not a pony fanfic blog.

It's okay to have a religious objection to homosexual sex and relationships. It's okay to state that opinion.
It's not okay to throw a fit, be an ass about it, and spread misinformation (like when RealityCheck selectively quoted the Royal College of Psychiatrists to make it look like they supported his position).

For the record, a nice essay on the topic. I've read it and checked some of the refs myself. It's pretty accurate and a very good example of why context is always necessary when reading the bible.
