Quoth the raven: "CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW" (Patreon)

  • TBorn On A Rock Farm
Inkie Pie was, without any kind of doubt, the most influential musician that ever lived. Born on a rock farm, her strange life would serve as both inspiration and cause for her songs. This is her story.

    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

It Cuts Like a Knife; It Might Leave You Bleeding

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

DONE! Saga, Long Story Short, Things Went Down, Born On A Rock Farm, and Me Being Pretty · 1:00pm Apr 29th, 2014

Oh, man. This going to be a dense one. Aren’t you excited? I’m excited! I like dense blog posts. They make me feel important and pretty and Swedish. Everybody knows blogs are intrinsically Swedish, and by definition, a Swedish guy is important. Quod Erat Demonstrandum, as the Chinese use to say. The prettiness is all mine.

Anyway, the only bad thing about dense blog posts (aside from the fact that nobody reads them except for my mother – hi Mom!) is that I don’t know how to tag them. I mean, I’m going to talk about Born On A Rock Farm, the DONE! Saga, the Long Story Short, Things Went Down universe, and more stuff. I understand why we can’t tag more than one story in a single blog post, but man it can be annoying now and then.

Anyway! So, let’s go down to business as soon as possible, okay? I have good news! Very good news!

First thing! You remember Born On A Rock Farm, right? Weird fic, very artsy, made it to EQD? Here’s the link (and it’s the story that I actually tagged to this blog, so yes, I’m sure you remember it). Well, it has a sequel now!

Actually, a fan-sequel. If you read the comments, you’ll see there’s a particular guy who thinks that the story is good but could be better, and instead of just criticizing, he went and asked me for permission to write a sequel and improve Inkie Pie. Now, I don’t know about you, but for me there are a certain… tiers, we could say? When you write fanfiction. So to speak: getting readers? Cool. Getting followers? Awesome. Getting fans? Holy hell, that’s awesome. Getting fanart/fansequels? Boom. You made it. There’s nowhere to go from here.

So yeah, I have a fansequel now and I’m happy as heck. Of course, I have a fansequel because the writer thought something like “God dammit, this guy is horrible. Here, let me show you how it’s done,” but yaddah yaddah details Born On A Rock Farm has a sequel!

Now, where’s that sequel, you ask? Here!

Boo yeah. Go read that, then comment, then come back here and tell me I’m pretty.

Now, moving on – my arm is getting better. I can write long stories again, although it seems like more or less 2000 words per day is my limit, as afterwards it starts hurting a little. So, 2k words at a time, I’m back at writing long-ish stories. At the moment I feel like writing comedy again, which means that the Teenager Silver Spoon fic I announced will be paused (it’s more serious than comedic, after all) and that everything I’ll release in the next month or so is going to be silly. So, no more The Road-like stuff for a while.

Man, I’m sure absolutely nobody is sad about that. Is there a single person out there who likes my serious stuff more than my comedic stuff? Even I believe the comedies are better. Writing is weird.

Anyway, so yeah, I’m currently writing a Celestia/Luna silly fic. Not my usual humor, by the way – it’s more Pythonesque, to say something (although not really Monty Python, because those guys were awesome and I’m pretty lame in comparison). It will be released soon.

And yes, me writing comedy again means that Daring DONE! will get another sequel (notice how it’s a Daring DONE! sequel, not a Shining DONE! sequel, because that’s important) that will be like no other thing you’ve seen in the series – so to speak, it will be about three different groups of characters, in three different, equally long chapters, and will not be centered around the Sparkle Family. Frackle will get a cameo, however, because I like that dragon. Yes, I know that it being no sequel to Shining DONE! makes little sense, but it’s my fic and I do whatever the hell I want to do with it.

Well, actually, that’s not right. I want to include Jar Jar Binks as a character, but my editors keep telling me it’s a bad idea. Maybe if I use Tauriel instead…?

Anyway, so there’s that. Huge DONE! story coming soon-ish. Oh, and also, there’s a group for the DONEverse, and I don’t know if I did a blog about that before. Hmm. I wonder if the DONE! stories will ever get a fan-sequel or a fan-side story. It got fanart, at least, so there’s that.

Also, the sequel to Long Story Short, Things Went Down is going to come up soon too. I don’t know if it will be out before or after the DONE! extravaganza, to be honest. Expect something long, with an actual plot (…so to speak, because with those characters, there’s not a real plot, it’s just them fucking around all the time. That’s why I love them so much). Oh, and a couple days ago this happened, which is not canon but it’s related to the ‘verse (same characters, more or less), so if you feel like it, go and take a peek.

What else? I’m probably going to release some one-shots before I post any of the two big stories. I find all this “two big continuities” business pretty funny, but I don’t like to create ‘verses and be tied down by them. On the other hand, writing sequels is so fun, man. So yeah, a couple short comedies.

Oh, and I’m also looking for a guy/gal to write a collab with me. I’ve been feeling like making a collaboration for a long time, but I can’t find any partner. That’s sad. Then again, I don’t have a real idea for a story either. I just feel like writing a story with another person.

(Oh, and even though it has a fan-sequel, I’m thinking on a spiritual successor to Born On A Rock Farm. And with that I mean that I already started it. However, I feel like writing comedy and that’s pretty dramatic, so it’s on hiatus too. But yeah, maybe I’ll come up with another story about a musician’s life. And after that, a second one, making a trilogy of pretentious fics everybody hates because seriously, I should write only comedy. Still, I’m dumb like that.)

So, there’s that. I hope I didn’t forget anything. See ya!

Congrats on the fan sequel. That's awesome! Looking forward to the coming hilarity.

Yay for more comedy. Though I'd love to see a spiritual successor to Born On A Rock Farm. Also envious that your words per day while injured is higher than my normal words per day at the moment.

Also, the sequel to Long Story Short, Things Went Down is going to come up soon too.

PARTY

Well, actually, that’s not right. I want to include Jar Jar Binks as a character, but my editors keep telling me it’s a bad idea.

Get Pinkie or Discord to break the 4th wall and grab a Star Wars comic with Jar Jar in it, bring it to whoever enchants the comics at the House of Enchanted Comics, and let somepony else play with the comic :pinkiehappy:

(Easier to pull off in my headcanon, actually, because I consider the House of Enchanted Comics to be a pet experiment by Discord :trollestia: )

I wonder if the DONE! stories will ever get a fan-sequel or a fan-side story.

I wouldn't attempt a fan sequel or side-story right now because I don't think I'm skilled enough to pull it off. Or, at least, to pull it off in the way your DONE! stories deserve. But my entry to the Everfree NW 2014 Pre-Con Contest, Fireworks for a Princess, was somewhat inspired by the DONE! series, both in the style and in my feeble attempts at comedy.

Everybody knows blogs are intrinsically Swedish, and by definition, a Swedish guy is important.
oh, so your saying I'm important, cuz I'm Swedish?:raritywink:
Yay, more DONE!:yay:
Hope it isn't the quelity of the two first chapters of Shining DONE! though.....:trixieshiftright:

2060323

..Shining DONE! has more than two chapters?

2060324
sorry, first chapter, my bad!:twilightblush:
Happy that you enjoy us Swedish for something!

Quod Erat Demonstrandum, as the Chinese use to say.

I can't even begin. Volo te habere bonum diem, right?

*sneaks around in the background*

I really enjoy your work and I would love to collaborate with you. I don't suppose you'd be interested in writing one of my pony-Marvel comics stories with me? Message me if you're interested and we can discuss it.

It looks as though there is a lot of funny to come in the future. I look forward to it.

Born on a Rock Farm was awesome, so a sequel? Super awesome. A spiritual successor? Also awesome. And now I ought to go look t your other fics because I forgot to before.

Sounds like a lot of reading I should catch up on some day. :rainbowdetermined2:

In other stuff, that dragon's name is actually Crackle and isn't "Quod Erat Demonstrandum" sounding more latin than chinese? :derpyderp2:

2063306

Frackle and Crackle are not the same character. Their names just sound similar because that's how dragon names work. Frackle is an OC, technically. Crackle is the red idiot Spike found in Dragon Quest.

(And yes, that's latin, not chinese. That's the joke.)

2063988 Well cut me a bit of slack for not realising either of them at the time. :trixieshiftleft:

2064509

Hey, I was trying to be nice. And informative. And pretty.

Just kidding, I don't need to try to be pretty.

2064560 *sighs* if you say so... :scootangel:
