Small Snippet For Next MFL Chapter!

"You'll wait here and be grateful that I find no cause for you to have an accident creature," she said, sneering.

I didn't know if it was instinct or a mixture of my newfound magic or...or something else.

    Mated For Life RETURNS!

    Finally, fucking finally!

I've finally managed to find the time to re-read the entire story up until The Abandoned chapter.

As such I now have both the information, feel and motivation to continue the epic tale of Richard and Chrissy.

    Here's a small sneak-preview -

"What in the hell is going on here?" I asked, eyes wide as I took in the frankly terrible sight.

I Just Can't Please You Can I? · 12:18am Feb 16th, 2014

Okay...

So first of all there's a few who tell me that they want some sort of prologue...

I do it.

But then they do a switcharo and decide that they don't want it anymore.

WHAT THE FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

...I'm gonna go lie down. I have a headache coming on.

Stay tuned for a new story idea- coming in a blog soon.

I actually enjoyed it

Fuck em. Write what makes you happy dude. You write for yourself, not us after all.

I just want a story.

Foalish mortals know not your toils! :twilightangry2:

Sam, just ignore them sweetie.:ajsleepy: You can't please everypony, but I thought you did a splendid job as always. You'll always have my full support in any endeavor you choose to pursue. Good work <3

Pretty much every nice thing in this thread squared.

Do not listen to your readers, unless of course it is something that is drastically important and fucks up your entire story, like a lack of plot/direction.

The best way to write is to write for yourself. Following what your readers want is a terrible way to write your story and it will ruin it, not to mention displease MANY MANY people. It'll also give you a headache.

that is weird honestly. hope you take some aspirins :applejackunsure:

to all the people who upset our beloved Zamairiac.

There is a reason the saying "You can't please everyone" is cliche, it's because it's true. Just write for yourself and your own enjoyment, you can't make everyone happy.

I never really needed a history on Chase, to be perfectly honest. But it makes for a good opening and gives a better spin to the story.

I just had no idea what to say at the time that I finished the chapter.

We're an amorphous blob of conflicting opinions. Never listen to us. :derpyderp2:

I haven't read it yet(don't read fics on Saturday) so I can't say anything about it. maybe you didn't do good job or something? Again I don't know anything.

Rule number one of creating, never try to please everybody, it's impossible.

WTF.READ<~~~~~~Come onnnnnn man!!!!!!!!!!! can you just finish a story before you start another one:facehoof:

WELCOME TO STARDOM MOTHERFUCKER!

Something I say to everyone. Write what you can be happy with, because you're not going to please everyone else. I've seen too many good stories go unfinished or gone bad because they tried to make all the naysayers happy.

Rule Number 1 for anything having to do with people: People don't know what the fuck they want, and if they tell you they do, then they really, really don't.

Peoples iz just crazy like that.

Just remember the first season classic, "Suited for Success." Your fans don't necessarily know what's best for them. Sure, listen to their input, but then be prepared to throw it all away if it's dumb. :raritywink:

I liked reading the thing that you wrote. I tried to give constructive criticism because I wanted to feel like I was participating, but apparently I managed to come across as complaining instead. I never meant to discourage you. I'm sorry.

Dude take ideas if you want but for the love Celestias sweet flank... Just give the middel finger to those who just bitch for the sake of bitching.

You can not please everyone and its best that you dont try to.

As legendary comedian Mitch Hedberg once said:
Y'know, you can't please all the people all the time... and last night, all those people were at my show.

1839142 When you start writing fanfics, you'll understand that your muse is a fickle thing and multiple story ideas will come to you at once.

Take it from a writer: You can't please every reader. You simply can't. That's why it's often said 'write for one person.' Imo, just write the story so that it is good to you.

But you need to differentiate between 'writing for yourself' and writing something that you like. Now onto this bullshit about writing for yourself. It's not entirely true. Anyone who says that... isn't really a writer if you ask me. What kind of writer would you be if you wrote under the pretense of not having any readers? Writing, probably like everything else you'll ever do in life, is ultimately for you. But it's not as cut and dry as that. I'm betting you write for the praise and attention. No shame in that, so do I. And so does everyone else here, even if they think that's not true, it damn well is. So, naturally, in order to write for yourself... you must write for your readers.

But this brings us back to the whole 'you can't please everyone' thing. That's why you gotta pick an audience to please. You can't write a shipfic of Fluttershy x Big Mac that'll please everyone because there are simply some people out there that don't like that ship. By that logic, you can't write a story that has character development and exploration instead of an expositiony prologue that wll please everyone.

Speaking of readers, we're talking about a group where 90% of them won't catch a subtle reference unless you directly note it. What do they know about writing? Don't get me wrong, sometimes they have great ideas about where a story should go. My most popular story has entire chapters that spawned because some reader said something. But that's me taking an idea and writing about it. That's me allowing my story to blossom and evolve based on my readers' comments. That's not me going back and changing my story. I can't give you a clear line between when they're right or wrong either. I'm afraid you'll need to figure that one out on your own as you go along.

And my final piece of advice: do not second guess yourself. I have made it a regular habit of mine that if I ever see something I did in the past and wonder what the hell was I thinking, I stop myself right there, and say 'I did it. I had my reasons.' And if you did it, you were probably right the first time. You didn't write a prologue originally. Some readers said something. Your story has over 900 upvotes. Why, excactly, did you think you did something wrong? :duck:

tbh, you seem too accomplished a writer for me to be explaining all this crap to you. :trixieshiftleft:

personally I could have gone either way. Your prologue was ok, but I felt the story could have gone on perfectly well without one. However, just remember that you can't and shouldn't try to please everyone. just write what you feel like you should write. Take constructive criticism when it's given, but don't listen to the neighsayers and trolls who's only wish is to take you down. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Be creative. Be spontanious. Don't wear underwear on thursdays. keep your readers guessing.:pinkiecrazy:

I myself liked the prologue.
However sometimes it's just not worth it to give into the demand, as people are, in a lot of cases, stupid and have no idea what they really want.
Just do stuff the way you like it and enjoy it!
