Raising Rainbow Next Chapter Confusion and Struggle · 12:37am Feb 4th, 2014
UGH! UGH! UGH! UGH! Just a million times ugh!
Alright, I'm really, really uncertain about the next chapter of Raising Rainbow.
To start, I was writing a cutie mark chapter. I got pretty far, and I'm about half way through. One little problem, though: This chapter is boring me to DEATH! I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the most boring thing I've ever written in my life. It's slowly, slowly trudging along, and I hate it! I've never been more hateful towards a chapter. Heck, I've enjoyed literally every single chapter I've done in Raising Rainbow so far. It's mostly because it revolves around a canon event everyone's already aware of, and it's a bit hard to be creative with it.
Now: I'm working on the chapter that was SUPPOSED to come after the Summer Flight Camp one. I'm thinking about simply adding the cutie mark detail in there through a flashback, and just ditching the original chapter. This chapter I already find a lot more entertaining to write! I'm enjoying this one more, but if I skip the Summer Flight Camp chapter, I won't have a summer chapter. I always have a summer chapter.
Anyways, I don't know what to do. I can either bore myself to death trying to do a chapter I seriously DON'T want to do, or I can skip a significant event, but find it easier and more enjoyable to write.
Tell what you guys want, prefer, or think I should do. Either way, my next chapter will be up tomorrow. Pinkie Promise.

Do what makes YOU happy! If there's an unhappy author, we are an unhappy fanbase. If you don't like the chapter, go write something else!!
Actually, there's been several times that I've been writing, looked at what I've written, and said, "This just isn't interesting." Then I press Ctrl+A and hit backspace.
There are some parts of a story that need to be told, and others that just aren't worth telling. If there's a part of a story that you need to tell, then make it worth telling, otherwise there's no reason to write it.
The entire reason a story exists is so it can be told; if you find it boring, bland, or uninspiring, then change it to make it fast-paced, excitable, and enjoyable for all. I have had quite a number of false starts on chapters I simply didn't want to write anymore several pages in, so I just erased all of it and started again from scratch. Your readers deserve a story that you enjoy at the very least.
Skipping a significant chapter is bad but i want you to write what makes you happy
You wrote (are writing) one of my favorite fics of all time so be proud
You need to take a break now and then to compose yourself, Pizzy. You worry too much over what we will think, but you're a fool to think that way. You write beautifully, Pizzy. How many times must we all tell you this before you believe us? You write what you feel like. Do not worry about the opinions of others.
Remember the song in that theme from 'Frozen'? The line that goes...
"I don't care, what they're going to say"?
Think that way, madam.
Well, the only thing I can say is that the cutie mark story, while important, can't be the only thing that happened that summer. Maybe focus on some other events that might have taken place at flight camp?
Your avatar contrasts nicely with your words...
The flashback sounds good, we know how she gets her cutie mark, we have this information. Summer is a large span of time, there are many occurrences other than flight camp.
UniqueSDK basically said everthing I wanted to before me, but seriously,
never never never ever write something you don't want to do.
If you don't like it, cut it out.
Writing it anyways will only drag yoru story down.
i think it's better to skip or just briefly mention her getting her cutiemark
