Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - bright and sunny.
Friday - overcast with a slight foggy drizzle, if anything.
Saturday - Rains like a mofo.
Sunday - bright and sunny. Not a cloud in the sky.
For most people, this was just odd bay area weather that may or may not have interfered with their plans.
For me, it was rain on my outdoor wedding day.
But it's okay ^_^ I'm a writer. I love interesting stories. And my wedding day certainly made for an interesting story! From the rainbows we saw on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, to the precious shots of my soon-to-be husband and I standing near the bridge (the whole purpose of having an outdoor wedding), to the sudden downpour that got a good portion of us drenched (and made my carefully tended coiffure become a puff ball of frizz), to the sudden relocation and timing of our ceremony amidst pony related paraphernalia for our reception. Making people cry with our vows. Being stalked by photographers. Games and fun and celebration of a reception. Explaining pony stuff to guests in the vaguest way possible. Having quiet moments alone with my new husband only to realize we were being stalked by one of our photographers. Photo ops. Speeches and more tears. Laughter. Love. Lots and lots of love.
It all seemed so surreal and it was all soooo exhausting. But it was all so worth it, and I just can't believe I'm married now ^_^ I'm someone's wife. That's just weird...
And oh, the ponies!!! It wasn't quite at spaghetti level, but we didn't do anything subtle about ponies like we planned. We just threw that out the window. I don't have the pictures from the photographer back (and won't for a while), and I barely took any pictures of my own, so you'll just have to do with a sneak preview of a really important part of the wedding - the cake topper...or at least, what happened to it after SOMETHING happened to it:
Let me just give you some of the highlights of the pony-ness: poison joke centerpieces with color changing clouds hanging over them, blind bags to certain guests, cake topper, pony beanies to give away as gifts, apple themes, fallen leaves, apples everywhere (even painted on my ring finger nail), pony references in BOTH our vows and in the officiant's speech. Activity books for the kids, as well as stickers for the scrap-book guest book. Rainbow Dash garter. Pony songs in the music mix, including walking out to "love is in bloom". And appletree was involved in the ceremony. We even bought a rainbow umbrella in case it rained, but I forgot it in my car. OH! And we gave the kids some tiny little rat figurines in their gift bags....and no one was explained WHY.
In the end, the Rarity and Rainbow Dash blind bags that we had in two of the centerpieces were stolen, Rainbow fell off of the cake topper somehow (or maybe was shoved), one person asked us what was up with the apple theme, one brother and nephew made fun of one bride by saying that the food must have been pony themed too, and we were eating Pinkie Pie.

I keep telling my friends about this, because it's just the cutest story ever.
I'm glad you guys had a wonderful wedding. I garuntee that it will make a great story to tell your children one day. Although don't do it How I Met Your Mother style, I think you should keep it short and sweet.

Congratulations! They say rain is lucky on your wedding day. At least, that's what they told me. At the time, I told people they just said that to keep brides with outdoor weddings from going insane, but I'm still married five years later, so it seems to have worked. I hope the rain is as lucky for you as it has been for me.

And wow, that rain! I couldn't believe how hard that was after months and months of nothing. Had to happen on your wedding day, right?! By 'they' say there's always 'one thing' that happens at any wedding to screw up your carefully made plans (it was true for me), and I'm glad this one didn't dampen yours too much. Er, so to speak.

I mean, what are the chances that the first time he sees rain here while living in California is on his wedding day, and then it's bright, sunny, and no cloud in the sky any other day?
