Kid: Daddy, I want to go to Barnes and Noble, please.
Me: Sure. Why?
Kid: I want to read the first book in the "Warrior Cats" series.
Me: Reading is always encouraged in the house. Get in the car.
<six hours later>
Kid: Finished! Can we order the next few books in the series?
Me: <pride>
Best way to bond with the little ones... Reading
<pride by proxy>
You raised them right, Sock.
Excellent!
I spent so much time in my middle school's library as a kid.
Hurray! n_n
No real familiarity with that series, but having being intoxicated first with Harry Potter as a kid, then branching out to many other series, I relate. And am happy to see that impulse still lives in kids today, despite all the white noise of the digital age.
Ankle Sock continues to be a treasure.
Good child, books are great, so is reading.
Nice
E-readers are an abomination. Anyone remember the George Orwell Kindle scandal?
Holden Caulfield is a little shit, but his Japanese future counterpart, Aoi the Laughing Man, is the hero we need.
Those were some of my favorites as a little Ice.
The kids are alright.
That's precious
My earliest memories I can recall are of my grandma taking me to the library while my parents were working and then going back to her house, sitting in her recliner, and reading the books I picked out. I turned out to be an avid, lifelong reader because my family was full of readers who nurtured my love of books. It's awesome to see that still happening!
Warrior cats, excellent choice!

I remember reading Catcher for school and just straight-up telling the teacher that there was nothing there to discuss. Dude couldn't have action if he paid someone for it, and I know this because he did!
I don't think I need to get on my soap box for anyone here, but I believe reading and love of reading so vitally important. Consider that if you could't read, then you'd have no idea what I just wrote.
Ankle Sock has mad skills and good taste. You’ve done well with her.
