I do not enjoy appearing hesitant. Perhaps there is some deeper explanation or perhaps my pride simply has a louder voice than I credit it for. I despise giving any appearance that is in the least unsure.
The dragon sleeps. Only its snores would produce so much smoke and even then the beast must be massive. It would not see the first strike coming and if I strike well a second will not be needed. If the beast that has taken my former home does awake my power and skill will be sufficient to overcome it.
Why do I hide its presence? These ponies have faced their fears every day that they have followed me. Why do I hide this one from them? Why do I hesitate?

The good news is that there is only one more chapter in the unexpected journey. The other good news is that the next chapter is going to be huge. The other other good news is that I've officially applied to graduate this may so I'm getting pretty pumped about that.
The bad news is that I only have 1500 words written for the next chapter so it may be a while, or I may end up releasing it in parts. Knowing me probably both.

It may be moot but I like to say I like this story format of your's and am reading it regularly.
The way of telling a story and building character depth with nothing more than entries in a diary is fascinating and you're doing it very well.
Please keep it up
I'm thinking it's just pride there Luna, and it's probably pride that wants you think there's a deeper explanation also. It's also probably pride that stops you from realizing you are very prideful. Seriously now, you should see a friend or even a psychiatrist about how big your ego is.
Probably because a sleeping dragon is probably a bit beyond the limits of what they've faced so far. Although I'm sure they'll be annoyed if you don't mention this to them, on the other hand, anticipation of trouble can damage the morale of a party more than an unexpected trouble. It's a fine line for a commander to walk.
