Why does she stay? She walks back to her tower too exhausted from feigned friendship with these nobles to fulfill her commitments to those who truly are her friends. Is she fooled by their mock charity? They do not bid on food and blankets for the poor but popularity and prestige for themselves.
They are nothing but a façade, how has she not seen this truth? How is the Element of Generosity not physically ill amongst such self-centered ponies?
Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps I am unfair and hasty in my judgment of Celestia’s court. That is my deepest of hopes but it is not my expectation. They will live up to my every criticism.
May Rarity find wisdom to see them for what they are and what she is becoming. May she find strength to return home and leave this den of thieves.

Looking back I'm a bit disappointed that we never see an interaction between Rarity and Luna because I think they have a lot in common, doubly so with the Nightmare Rarity comic arc, and it would be pretty interesting to see them interact.

Humm now I wonder how Luna will react to Fancy Pants, favorably I'm guessing. He's a noble who is actually, well noble and not a status climber. Also I want to know if Luna will witness the garden party when the Main 6 show up and maybe call out Jet Set and Upper Crust for calling Twilight and the other elements noponies. While I could accept that somehow they don't know what the other Elements of Harmony look like or are named, how can they NOT know who Celestia's personal protege is? I imagine Twilight was dragged to at least a FEW royal functions in the past and despite her own ignorance of her importance the Canterlot elite know what he name is and what she looks like.
Rarity... well, she's naive in a lot of ways in my view. She sees 'nobility' as a label and as a behaviour as inextricable from each other. Even Blueblood's boorishness hasn't cured her of that. She'd need a lot harsher a kick in the rump to realise that sparkling finery and noble titles do not a noblepony make.
