I actually like this ending a little better. I'm one of those guys who likes practically everything about a show or movie.
This was a great way of giving an episode with a slightly bittersweet ending a more happier one  
I was even thinking of writing one myself to rectify Rarity's business problems. 

Her majority of famous friends like Fancy Pants and Fleur, Photo Finish, Hoity Toity, and others hear about her business problems and upon finding out the whole story, write a somewhat angry collective letter  to newspapers and magazines to complainers around the country about how nopony's is perfect. Something Twilight and her friends tried to remind the complainers of, but they apparently wouldn't listen (they even sarcastically state that if they wouldn't listen to a princess, maybe they'll listen to celebrities, in which case they're disappointed.) They even reveal some embarrassing stories of their youth that shows they weren't so different (Fleur especially was like Rarity when she was younger, maybe even worse.) They finish with a statement that even if they ruin their reputations for themselves, they'll stand by Rarity as a friend to keep her businesses from going under totally because true friends accept their friend's- little flaws and all. 

Soon, ponies realize that they were wrong to take their dislike too far in boycotting an innocent pony and send apology letters; the two high class ones who started the whole thing even show up to apologize in person. And little by little, Rarity's business starts to boost again to be back to normal.
