How hard can writing novels be, anyway?

My new story, The Manehattan Anomaly, is my first serious fic-writing experience in nearly a decade, and it's amazing to think that it's finally going out into the world.
I started it back in April as part of a horror write-off, but somewhere in the final few days of that month, I realized it needed much more time, care, and effort. So I promptly stopped working on it until September. As you do.
In a perfect world, stories like mine would not get featured... but this is not a perfect world.
It happened again! A joke story I wrote in a very short amount of time got noticed by all the wrong people, and now it has more engagement than 90% of the rest of the stories on this site. Shall I pity myself? Eh, not really.
I opened my browser to look up whether "thunk" is an appropriate conjugation of "think" in the context of "[Character] thunk."
I ended up browsing reddit for twenty minutes then watched the first five minutes of the "Miracle on the Hudson" documentary. Then I got bored, closed the browser and went back to my document.
Then I remembered why I'd opened my browser.
Alright, so Cuddling with Twilight has done about as well as I expected it to. I'm glad that it got as much love as it did, and this is definitely helping with motivation to write. I think I should have edited it more before releasing it, but whatever. It's fine.
Cuddling with Twilight was on the front page! (For less than an hour!)
Why? I have no idea.
Maybe hugging a small horse really is something you sickos are into. I won't judge.
The story I posted is linked below. It's called Cuddling with Twilight. What can I tell you about this story?
Well, first of all, as I'm writing this it is still being submitted. I'm a bit nervous about new stories ever since I had a bit of a breakdown some years ago, shortly before I canceled my only other published story, Entropy. I think, though, that this one turned out better. Hopefully you guys like it.
