A name is more than just a word. It's an identity.

So when you pop into existence at the age where most other ponies have one, you realize that you need one yourself. Which poses a problem for those who's parents never had them.

After all, ponies with identities don't become unfoals.

And for one colt, getting a name from his parents might not be quite so simple...

They thought that Starlight, Twilight, and Spike’s little jaunt through time was over and done with.

Well, it’s over anyway.

But at the end of the recent war with the unfoals, a filly showed up identifying herself as Diamond Tiara’s daughter from a timeline that no longer exists.

Ditzy and The Doctor want to make sure this isn’t going to create a headache for them when the local chronomancers try to “fix” things. Twilight and Starlight feel responsible since it was their duel that set this filly adrift in the first place. Midnight figures he needs to be there since Diamond’s involved... especially after he just had a rather unsettling conversation with Death.

“The Brute, The Insubordinate, The Slacker, and The Thief! Princess Celestia, with all due respect, what in your own name made you think this project was worth any time or effort?”
“That is simple Colonel, they are effective. You showed me their exercise reports yourself. Besides, I wasn’t really looking for an ‘orthodox’ team.”
“Permission to speak Ma’am?”
“Blanket permission to speak granted Lieutenant Snowfall. You work the most closely with them, I would consider your input invaluable.”
“Thank you Ma’am. I guess if you really want to understand how truly far they’ve come, you have to go back even further than when you picked them up and put them together. If you have the time, I want to tell you both exactly how and why each of my ponies wound up in the position that let you form Spectre Squad…”

The Blood's Eye Event. A cult, bent on releasing their master from Tartarus, foalnapped over four dozen fillies and colts to farm them for their life energy. They fooled the princesses, avoided the detection of the guards, and would have succeeded if not for a filly and her friend.
That was two months ago.
Since then, Black Diamond had gone back to her life as Diamond Tiara, and Featherdown has been living with the recently returned Midnight Star. Both are making progress in their training as Shadow Rangers. The colts and fillies that they saved have for the most part rallied behind the flag of the filly who led them directly, flooding the ranks of the Crusaders' Manehatten Branch. The cultists have been imprisoned, with any of their escaped comrades actively hunted down by the guard.
And Demon Blood has not given up on his quest to return.
He knows who stands in his way. He knows he needs to deal with them. And thanks to them, he knows how.
The last time, he lost to untapped potential. Now his enemies will fall to the same power.

This story ties in to Rising Star

Diamond doesn't know why she keeps having the nightmare. She doesn't even know what that thing she's running from is.

And she definitely doesn't know about the ancient power she's helping to wake up a little more every time she has it.

Midnight's worried. Trapped in his star, there are a lot of things he can see but not do anything about. And any time he uses the knowledge he gains as a Wishing Star to help his old friends, there's a price. With the threat that's coming, that price will be far too high.

And then he finds her. A young filly on the precipice of Darkness, about to fall. And she's the answer to his problem.

So the Alicorn of Hope gives a filly some gifts. Freedom from her recurring nightmare, the ability to help her friends sealed carefully away in a box she can't open yet, a riddle that makes no sense, and a cryptic warning so vague she's convinced he got it from a fortune cookie.

And Faust help Equestria, but Diamond's our only chance.

Sex tag is primarilly for a rather large misunderstanding. There are/will be a few small references to things that actually happened in backstories, but no details.

This story is a sequel to Rising Star

In Rising Star, we saw the introduction of six heroes in Equestria's distant past. Inkwell, Moonchaser, Sunbeam, Lotus Blossom, Dust Runner, and Contrail became enemies of the state when they fought Discord's guards through the city of Everfree. Their identities were protected by disguise magic, but now they - and their new powers - have to fit their way back into everyday life.

Oh, and did I mention that Moonchaser and Featherdancer are currently in Discord's dungeon "permanently?" Which is why when we last saw him, Inkwell was racing off to save his friend and brother after fully stepping into his new role as Midnight Star.

Who knows, if they can keep their secrets and double-lives intact, they might just be able to pull this off and save Equestria... or at least win the battle for Everfree...

A thousand years ago, two sisters - Luna and Celestia - overthrew Discord and freed Equestria. They later went on to have many more adventures together, before the younger sister fell to her greed and jealousy and became the dreaded Nightmare Moon.

In the present day, six mares uncovered a set of six artifacts, the Elements of Harmony, that combined to form an ancient power from the days of Discord's fall and thus they became the new protectors of Equestria.

A long time ago there was a pony who had a single wish that he wanted with all his heart, and so he flew to the stars to ask if they would grant his wish for him. Today he watches over us from the stars he once pleaded with, to grant the wishes made to the rising star with the chime of midnight. Or so the tale following the legend of The Mare in the Moon says.

Everyone knows the old mare's tales, but even more they know the story of the royal sisters. They know the tales of how Celestia and Luna overthrew tyrants, imprisoned monsters, and toppled evil wherever they could. But what they don't know is this: They didn't do it alone.

History is repeating itself, secrets are coming to light, and Equestria is about to have it's entire history turned on it's ear.

The present is about to get very interesting.
