She's gonna throw you to them to protect herself the moment it's her only option.
Well that's not right. Is that a typo or did Sunburst mishear her? That's a BIG miscommunication if that's what he heard.

That's what I get for writing at like 3 AM. Fixed
And thus we come to the scene where the title image is from. Nicely done.
As much as I don't like Rose, I love this. It can easily be 100k words and still super entertaining
So that's how Sunburst got a head start on figuring out how the pandemic works. Great way of tying this into the greater narrative of the universe, and also make Rose and Tempest's story have a genuine impact on things. Even if we know that the warning was ultimately not enough to save the Crystal Empire, we do know that it was what sowed the seeds from which a solution for this whole mess would grow.
And even though I know that Rose is not meant to be a likeable character (Everything Bulwark rants about is technically correct, even if it is just coming from a place of sheer pain, fear, and anger.), I can't help but keep rooting for her somewhat. The strength, stubbornness, and sheer fortitude to be able to keep pushing forward despite all the injuries, setbacks, and stress is admirable.
In addition, it seems like Rose and Tempest are now going to have to rely on each other even more than they already were. There were hints that Tempest was likely still going to betray Rose once it was all said and done, but now with major injuries of her own, that is going to change. These two are going to need each other to get out of this alive, I think.
Those "growls" are probably Tempest waking up and groaning in pain.
At least... I hope so...
I could tell, lol. I get the sense he's your favorite.

He's not even a character I particularly love in canon. He just has a very clear voice in my head and he's fun to write. It's like AJ or Rarity where they're so well defined in my head I can just slip into the headspace and the dialogue flows.
Yeah... I'm calling cap.
Ain't no way in hell she got the energy to one shot the dude.
Man, I missed your version of Sunburst so much too. Makes me all the more sad when thinking about the events of And Hell Followed.
