Princess Cadance trots down the corridors of the Crystal Castle to her room. Another day in the Crystal Empire as usual. Cadance looks at a book that caught her eye.
"That's the book Shining brought over from the Golden Oak Library," Cadance examines the book. "Spike's Friend?"
Shining Armor walks into the room. He sees Cadance observing the book.
"Read it if you want to understand the trauma Spike went through," Shining said calmly.
"You've read it?" Cadance asks curiously.
Yes," Shining admitting to Cadance's question. "I now see Twilight differently. The way she was handling Spike is wrong on so many levels." It makes me question how somepony or he hasn't called the CPS."
"What would you've done, Shining?"
"If Spike were to tell me everything he's been through, I would have taken him away from Twilight. Teach Twilight responsibility for how to raise a child. You can't leave him or use him up like a puppet."
"Interesting. I'll start reading the journal. You take a watch for the evening. I don't want to be disturbed."
"Understood my love," Shining said as he leaves the room.
Cadance starts reading Spike's Friend. The first entry is about Spike missing out on fun parties and having to hear Twilight brag about it while having to write Princess Celestia about her studies. Next entry is about Spike missing the Sonic Rainboom and have to clean up a mess. The next one shook Cadance a bit.
"Twilight, what the hay were you thinking? Spike could have died in that freezing water," Cadance said as she finished reading Spike's near-death experience. "I can't believe that she nor her friends would try to save him instead of laughing at him. It's unreal."
The next journal entry reveals Spike's loneliness during the Grand Galloping Gala. Cadance sheds a few tears, understanding the life of being ditched and left behind.
"Hey, wait. What's this?" Cadance used her magic and unfolded a page in the journal. "The day Twilight found someone else?" Cadance starts reading the journal entry thoroughly.
Dear Journal,
Twilight Sparkle has a new assistant. Owlicious. At first, I didn't like the fact the Owlicious would be helping me with my chores. During that time, I was a bit territorial. I believe that Twilight got Owlicious to replace me. He was getting things for her, doing my work, and Twilight hasn't asked how I feel. For a while due to my mistake the other night, I was wrapped up in guilt because I burnt a book when I sneezed then lie to Twilight about the book's disappearance. When she found out, I felt nothing but shame. That was my fault for not owning up to my mistake. When Twilight told me that Owlicious found the book, I believe that he set me up, so I wanted payback. That was another mistake I made. When Twilight told me that I'm not the Spike she knows and loves, I knew from right then and there she doesn't love me anymore. I decided to pack the essentials and run away. When I ran away from home, I felt like Twilight should have talked to me about how I was feeling. I'm only a child. Twilight treated and handled the situation like I'm an adult. I found a cave, nearly got killed by another dragon, Twilight saves me, and finally admits her mistake. She should have been sensitive instead of strict. I did apologize for my actions. Things were getting better until Twilight started asking me for more than Owlicious. It was the turning point of my responsibilities piling up. I work, clean, cook, and care while she gets to have fun with her friends. She doesn't ask Owlicious for help anymore. She asks him to come out for pet playdates or to keep her company as she reads. At first, I didn't like it. Now, I miss having Owlicious helping around. I am getting tired of my new routine. I do hope everything gets better from here.
Cadance has more sympathy for Spike than ever before. Cadance continues to read more journal entries. Tears stream down Cadance's face as she reads the sadistic entries of Spike's suffering. She's enraged with Twilight allowing her friends to use Spike as a tool and how Twilight would hit Spike in public and in front of her friends. Cadance now understands why Spike feels like he's a slave to Twilight and her friends. He was one before he ran a second time. Cadance puts the book away. She doesn't want to read any more of it.
"Twilight and her friends have some serious problems," Cadance said emotionlessly. "I'll be glad to show them a piece of my mind."
Shining Armor comes in the room. He's a bit tired for the night.
"Hi, love," Shining said. "How are you holding up?"
"Spike suffered a lot, Shining."
"I know."
"I'm going to visit Spike in Pony Central tomorrow."
"Understood. I'll visit Princess Luna. We need to talk about Daybreaker and how to handle Equestria's new defenders."
"Have you read the page that was folded up?"
"Yes. In hindsight, Spike acknowledges his mistakes, however, Twilight chose to handle things differently. I can't believe Twilight would be that strict with Spike over a little white lie. She confronted Spike's little white lie as a federal crime. Then again, I want to hear her side of that story."
Silence reigns in the room. Cadance and Shining yawn from exhaustion.
"Let's continue this chat in the morning, love," Shining said.
"Sure, I need a good sleep."
Shining Armor and Cadance fall asleep together in their room.
Looks like things are about the unravel faster for the FORMER mane six.
Alright I am going to be real here and it might seem counter productive to the story but.... I am tired of hearing about the pity party of Spike. It really feel the whole story is nothing but how bad the girls are and poor poor Spike. At first I did really care and feel for him. But after well over 10+ chapters of it I am tried of hearing about it. I am tired of keep beating this dead horse. I get it I do it is a very bad thing and needed to be handled. But damn haven't he dealt with this enough by this point. The girls have been made redundant and replace with 'perfect pure' versions of them, Twilight is still treated like a monster and now has massive depression and maybe even suicidal thoughts because MOST people still treat her like she is the worse thing in the world and not a young girl who was FORCE to take care of a child she wasn't ready to take care of. And Spike is the poor baby that didn't have direct connections to help and people who could have easily been there for him. But I am not victim blaming it is just all this seem to be dragging on to me. And I want to see it progress soon. I want to see why I should care about these new girls over the old ones, and even with all the girls did to save the world multiple times at this point the should have been stripped instead of given a chance to become better friends than they once were. And to see Spike as something OTHER than a kicked puppy every is treating with mittens and like he is made of glass now. One can only be pitied for so long before it start to wear on you. Idk maybe this just caught me at a moment but I still want to see where this story goes from here.

So in this chapter, I wanted to write out Cadance's reaction cause her memory was erased when Twilight's soul binding agreement happened. Shining wanted Cadance to read book his memory was altered due to Twilight's soul binding agreement. This is probably that last time Spike's journal would be read as I continue to write this story.
nice to see cadance is being impartial and wanting to hear both sides before forming an opinion on the matter, it shows had good of a ruler she is.

Maybe

Yep
Another story that makes the six out to be heartless abusers, Spike hating them and everyone turning on them.
why mention physical abuse? I don't recall the six assaulting him in the show.
Overall in my opinion Spike being abused (especially half as seriously as people on this site say) is a bit exxageratted.
I know people will disagree with or dislike me, probably even scold me for my words. But this is my opinion. I'm not trying to yuck up your story or anything with arguments or anything and I hope you don't take it that way.

9957073 alright you've presented evidence, now here's my response.
Most of those weren't even the six or were just situational or accidental.
Granted the lake thing was mean but it was just a prank, like those pranks where someone puts someone else out on a lake on a mattress during a camping trip, you'd laugh at that, right? A lot of these are slapstick and even consensual, and besides what about 1:59? Twilight was worried about him.
And a lot were other characters had hurt him in some way, so why are the six getting most of the heat? How is it the six's fault Angel made Spike run into a bookcase or Trixie rolling him into a basketball and shooting a hoop with him? and that thing with the iron pony competition was a bit unavoidable considering Spike was the only one available who could cling on properly, at least AJ provided him with a haybale to land in.
It feels a little taken out of context to me to say that he hates them considering how in the show he feels no ill feelings towards them. He loves them as his friends and Twilight as his sister and that shows that he's mature and forgiving at heart, this stories Spike could have just sat them down and talked about his dissatisfaction with his treatment.
And the six losing the right to be the bearers also sounds out of context considering all they have done for Equestria and it's populace. it feels OC to just fire them because they "didn't treat one friend right" every mistake they make is meant to be a learning experience and then they fix it. that's the whole point of this show, to learn from mistakes.
I'm not going to tell you how to make a story just share my thoughts on why I feel that some things on Fim are taken out of context.
What I mean is did you know they are still making "Canterlot Wedding" stories where Shining is hated by everybody for lashing out at Twilight for harassing 'Cadance'? it happened in season 3 and their still talking about it.
do you get where I'm getting at though?
9957073
This video to me only show's that Spike should've left the mane six after either season 1 or 2.

I hear you and thanks for your response. What you say is true, however, in my story, I'm just extending a little bit of it to flow in the direction I'm thinking of. I take what I can get and expand it on a different matter. The situation with Spike is, he's only a child and doing so much. When he volunteers, then that's his thing. When Twilight gives him something and she goes out, that's different. For all the times Twilight went out to a party or go on some adventure without Spike, Spike is the one who writes it down for Twilight as she speaks. It would have to make Spike feel that he's left out on the fun. Especially in Ponyville.
From the show, yea, he feels no ill feelings. He loves his friends and that's cool.
As for my story, it's just a different turn on things and how he would feel about everything so far.
I do want to say, thank you for giving me your thoughts tho. Always good to see and hear things from a different perspective of the reader.

No problem
All I can say is that I hope there will be a happy ending resolution in the end.
9957546
You'll find out soon. When I get back to working on in on Monday. I have more chapters in mind and such.
9957546
Overall, are you enjoying the story or parts of it?
9957576
Doing alright so far.
Can I state one thing though?
9957906
Sure
9958310 actually never mind
I may ask it by the end of the story since it would be appropriate.
In any case, I hope healing between Spike and Twilight can take place in your story at some point.
9958531
It will. Can't say well but know it will. Hate and anger doesn't last long. Or can it? You'll have to wait and see.
