Six years have passed since a pandemic transformed a quarter of the population of the United States into ponies. Magic has advanced far in that time, but its formerly human users will soon find that they have advanced too quickly and recklessly.

Wow just wow. I think the next few chapters are going to have everything go sideways. I hope that it only takes out a few of these misguided ponies but I think this whole extended family is going to be completely damaged by what Sunset Blessing is trying to do.

Thing is I'm not sure she's wrong. I'm with Tonya on that. I'm wondering how the other Shimmerists are going to react to Sunset's 'revelation'. If even Tonya is questioning it and Tonya is her wife I can't imagine this will go over well with the rest of the Shimmerists.
Small typo near the end: "Amanda squealed witg excitement ..."
I love the interactions between Jessie and her family. I was fond of Devon in Picking Up the Pieces, but Jessie is even better. Always look forward to reading her parts. As for Sunset's revelation, it feels like a natural development of the character- she's dealt too much with friendly humans to feel any real paranoia about them, and has changed enough from the initial transformation to understand that the vision was just that- a idealized vision. So, it makes sense that she'd decide that humans having magic is a worthy goal.
It would be interesting to see how those who are shimmerist because they don't trust humans react to this. Are there any of those in Sunset's flock?

Her personal flock is pretty good with humans, though they reflect Nocte's thinking; being a pony is what's good for them. There would be some question about whether all would accept this in her flock. Shimmerists of other factions there are a lot more who don't trust humans and are unlikely to buy into this.
this is really going to change the hole story line a tremendous amount.
Rosette's certainly not wrong, Wild believes in the goodness of things but Rosette's noticing how strongly the mind magic is making their mama quite brainwashed by the sensations which Wild seems to be overlooking because it's making her happier.
It's ignoring that she's not even thinking properly when she can't even think of her human self as the former normal.
Period needs to be replaced with a comma.
There's some huge bombshells of information with this chapter. So many things that bring up questions and I'm excited to see where it's all going to lead in the grand scheme of things. Sunset's goals in particular seem like such a stark contrast to what we've seen of her so far. Can't wait for the next chapter!
Well, crap. Not sure how to feel about Sunset Blessing at the moment.
Wild and Rosetta have very different views of the world. But you could imagine these two in real life with Rosetta being the staunch conservative and Wild the bleeding heart liberal. Neither of them are bad people, but there are definite different views of the world.
I kinda have the feeling that either a new ETS breakout will happen during the presentation of the temporary transformation spell or something will go horribly wrong on that day, causing Sunset to go completely mad and release all the bad things she has in the secret lab, including the ETS copy
Goodness, Blessing is really embodying some of the worst aspects of religion here. Anything she thinks sounds like a good idea is a "revelation from god" and therefore cannot be argued with. This one in particular is a complete 180 from the traditional Shimmerist view of "being a pony makes everything better, so everyone needs to be a pony." Turning everyone into ponies is a central tenet to Shimmerism, if not its main pillar. I can't imagine other branches of Shimmerism taking this sudden departure of that tenet nicely.
