In Twilight's defense, practically nopony knows why the demons aren't attacking Equestria anymore. Only Discord had the capability to go find out it seems, and we can already tell he'll be too late to inform the rest about the truce of sorts that's currently on. It was bound to happen eventually. In another century, another curious unicorn with enough power could probably try to do this, and pull the exact same stunt as Twilight is going to.
One thing's for certain - there's gonna be a ton of casualties.
You know that he would befriend Fluttershy because she has a pet bunny like he had once. In Doom 2 he gone to hell to kill them all because they killed his bunny he was more badass than John Wick
If Twi does what I think she’s gonna do, the first thing Doom guy will probably do is bitch slap both the princesses, for imprisoning him.
And if the mane 6 get involved the cocky and arrogant Rainbow will no doubt try to take on the Slayer, only to have BOTH her wings ripped off, or at least broken.
9123489 Doomguy is the type of guy to charge into a military facility knowing it will see him dead despite having a ship right behind him. (Doom 1)
He's the type to be motivated by the death of his pet, and to charge forward against the demon hordes despite the odds for the sake of humanity. (Doom 2)
To answer the call to action despite knowing peace and paying his dues decades before. To be willing to dive into a facility flooded with demons once again, just as he did so long ago. And once he realized that the demons would never stop coming, what did he do?
He decided spring water was better than tap, and chose to dive straight into hell to slaughter demons wholescale, even if it meant abandoning his chance at a normal life and possibly losing any shred of humanity that he had left. (Doom 64)
He's the type to fight hell in any way he can. And as that kind of person, he's got to understand that sort of motivation and dedication in others. So after this AI has willingly allowed him to essentially lobotomize it in order to get him back into hell to stop the demon invasion, killing itself to end the threat, his reaction is that of respect and recognition of the same sort of drive that keeps him moving forward. (Doom 2016)
The willingness to stop hell despite the cost and what you must leave behind. Doomguy recognised this, and decided that virtue is no good to anyone if Vega is dead.
So he chose to back Vega up.
Now we just have to wait and see what comes of it in Eternal.
She knew enough, now, to make a decision. The Slayer was no demon at all, he was their enemy. And an enemy to demons could prove a vital asset to the protection of Equestria. Right?
While on paper, she is right, the real world requires much more critical thinking.
Two points that she forgot to consider.
1) The enemy of my enemy is NOT NECESSARILY your friend. 2) Powerful angry and violent beings might take being turned to stone for hundreds of years quite personal.
The only way this could possibly turn out well is to treat him like a wild bear or mountain lion that wandered into a neighborhood. Catch, relocate and release. They already have him tranquilized and in a cage, I say open the gates of hell and toss him through. Eques is safe, Doom is happy, and the demons will be to occupied to invade. (This can't happen though because it would end the story. Common sense does not a good movie make. )
9141965 true. The Doom Slayer works only for his own goals. When he helps someone it just because it happens to line up with his goal at the time. Even then he does it his way, like how he was told to carefully remove a battery and he just smashed it to get the power from it.
Hoo boy.. Curiosity killed the nerdy book horse. Wait, is that how the saying goes?
Something about the reluctance of Doomguy to initiate violence against the ponies makes me think this will end up working out well, but first contact isn't going to go well.
Though he still made no noise, The Slayer very visibly struggled against the magic, and managed to reach one arm out towards the princesses, his weapon still lowered.
They are harmony, compassionate, without intolerance. But you. You will be worse. Cuddle and boop.
9141760 You are right the Slayer was wrongly stoned and she aims to fix it Unfortunately she doesn't know that the demons are content to wait and hide away from him until he is freed again
9141439 I'm confused, what's the appeal in this imagery? Doom Slayer stands above all in his hellish fury against the hellborne. Why do you want to see him stoop to a cuddling fool? I think I'm missing something.
9148629 Incorrect: Doomguy's motivation in Doom 1 was simply "oh fuck there's demons everywhere fuck demons". Ultimate Doom's 4th episode was him having a big ol' rampage after finding his bunny was killed. Doom 2 somewhat carried on from that, but that motivation soon gets surpassed by "well shit humanity is almost dead, better go murder literally every demon until the portal closes"
Judging by the fact that the Slayer has his arsonal of guns and chainsaw, this is any time after Doom 2016. Also, so far his personality in this seems to match up perfectly with his depiction in Doom 2016
I am wondering if anything important in the timeline has changed because of Twilight being spotted by Luna in the past. I mean, show cannon seems to be inconsistent with how time travel works. The first time Twi used it, it didn't change the future whatsoever even though that was her intention. The time Starlight used it, she was able to make fan-fics cannon. My only guess is that the universe has some resistance to timeline tampering, but because those two instances have such a huge gap in tampering severity, it's not clear at all how much it has. What's worse is that there's no explicitly stated rules in the cannon.
9141679 I'm not sure if you're implying this, but I don't think the Doom Slayer is the exact same guy as OG Doom's Doomguy, even if they do have the same personality
9148779 Doom 1 has the marine on Mars as a punishment. He is a part of the response team to Phobos and gets left behind to watch the perimeter with just a pistol. After he hears his entire team die and receives no further orders, he charges in to kill as many demons as he can before they take him him rather than taking off on whatever vehicle the team took to get there.
Huge testament to his character, of you ask me.
Then Doom 2 has him responding to the demon threat on Earth by voluntarily joining a military campaign to rid the demons stopping the civilian population from leaving the planet. After he becomes the only survivor, he pushes on and gets the transports spacebound. Sits back, more or less accepting death until the survivors radio him about where the demons are coming from. Promptly gets up and goes to do whatever he can there.
In Doom 64, even after retirement and everything he did in 1&2 being more than enough of a service to mankind, he volunteers to deal with another demonic threat willingly, and alone. And once that is dealt with, decides dealing with demons on this end enough, and dives into hell to fight them at the source.
9423592 I choose to believe they're the same person. Doom Slayer is simply Doomguy after countless eons of demon slaughter. As for the mute point, it's very much possible he never talked in Doom 2016 because he simply didn't want to. After all, the only people available to talk to were a robot man who clearly had no idea that any connection to Hell is bad, an AI that almost never directly interacted with him, and a woman who unleashed the demons in the first place.
If we don't get a scene of Doom Slayer petting a mortified Angel Bunny, I'm calling the police on you.
Rip and tear until it is done
Twilight nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Ya think?
And oooh Twilight... you're gonna make a very big goof, aren't you?
Good show author.

Once the slayer gets out my guess is he's gonna make a beeline for tartarus and rip/tear into anything that gets in his way
The road to hell is pathed with good intentions. Heh I'm looking forward to more of this
You know that he would befriend Fluttershy because she has a pet bunny like he had once.

9141488
9141488
As it was stated in the previous chapter, once Slayer breaks out, all Tartarus will make a beeline for Equestria to stop him there.
9141567
And Twilight doesn't know that.

Twilights about to make a booboo. A well meaning booboo, but a booboo.
I mean... At least the reason for her decision wasn’t entirely stupid.
9141489
And also the bodies of the demons The Slayer killed to get there.
While on paper, she is right, the real world requires much more critical thinking.

This chapter has Doom Slayer like:

I want Doom Slayer to meet Angel Bunny.
They are harmony, compassionate, without intolerance. But you. You will be worse. Cuddle and boop.
Cuddle and boop, until it is done.
9141991
That was because the battery was storing Ardent energy and Doomguy knew that keeping it contained would cause more problems in the future
That was one hell of an intense scene man!
Bring on more of the awesome!!!
9141760
You are right the Slayer was wrongly stoned and she aims to fix it
Unfortunately she doesn't know that the demons are content to wait and hide away from him until he is freed again
We are reaching that point in music where the bass drop is right around the corner. The excitement is tangible!

I'm confused, what's the appeal in this imagery? Doom Slayer stands above all in his hellish fury against the hellborne. Why do you want to see him stoop to a cuddling fool? I think I'm missing something.
Why destroy the robe? It was a historical artifact
So, Twillight has reached a conclusion, let's see what it will lead to.
9143344
Doom guy had a pet bunny that was killed by demons. And was his main motivation in, I believe, doom 2.
9143344
His entire motivation in the first two games was that the demons killed his pet bunny Daisy and mounted her head on a stick.
The original games didn't have much in the way of the "plot" department.
9148629
Incorrect: Doomguy's motivation in Doom 1 was simply "oh fuck there's demons everywhere fuck demons".

that was beautiful doom guy would be proud

Implying they have the same personality because it's true. Slayer is Doomguy.

A great guy all around.
Oh Twilight, why fight something that isn't going to fight back, your only going to deepen your own grave
9423592
