Canterlot High- EQG Universe.
"Alright, Twilight. See you next week."
"Right! Thanks again, Sunset, Trixie!"
"No prob!" Sunset waved. "Just keep us in the loop on how things are going."
"Of course!" Twilight replied and stepped through the portal.
As Sunset turned around, she saw Trixie with a thoughtful expression.
"What?"
"Trixie is thinking we might be able to help more."
"How?" Sunset asked.
'We gave them the movies and five series but what about Beta Canon?"
Sunset looked at Trixie with alarm. "Are you insane? Beta Canon is a confused mess of contradictions! Giving them that could be worse than useless!"
"No, Sunset, Trixie has not gone insane. Hear me out." Trixie held up a hand. "We know that certain authors have already shown some reliability: We know that Pirates of Orion actually happened, so Howard Weinstein's books should at least be considered. We met Harb Tanzer and Ensign Naraht: That means Diane Duane's works should be considered. Forged in Fire we're already gambling as being correct due to the connections to known episodes. So those authors should be considered. And it seems that John M. Ford's Final Reflection and the Klingon Dictionary have legitimacy also."
"That's true but what about Marshak and Culbreath? I just can't take Triangle or Prometheus Design as making any sense in relation to what we know to fit. And Duane may have been mostly right but the USS Inaieu seems unlikely. At least as she's portrayed in the book."
"I said some veracity. Better that they have access to the ones which have some veracity on record. But yes... Trixie would not include Marshak and Culbreath. Dreadnought also reads like a self-insert fic. I mean, the Franz Joseph Technical Manual aside, do you really believe anyone in the Federation would name a ship Star Empire? We DO know that the Federation did build the Federation, Saladin, Hermes, and Ptolemy classes... But Trixie does not buy an advanced Dreadnought secretly built by a renegade admiral right under everyone's nose to start a war with the Klingons to be any more believable in Dreadnought than in Into Darkness. But we can ask Twilight to check a list of names to see if anything comes up."
"Wow! I see you've given this some thought!"
"Naturally. It is my duty to provide facts, not speculation."
"And if there IS a chance that a bunch of nutcases are going to detonate an anti-matter bomb and kill a million people... We can't ignore it."
"We actually might want to hurry on that one. My reading suggests that if it happens, it will be soon."
"This is one story I really hope is wrong."
"It probably is but a couple of inquiries that turn out negative? Trixie can live with. A million innocent people dying and the defense system proceeding to shoot down everything in the sky? No."
"Good point." Sunset conceded. "Anything else that jumps out at you?"
"I'm going to concentrate on checking anything scheduled to happen prior to 2363. Especially anything scheduled from 2269 to 2293. Beta canon is nothing to make certain plans around but having contingencies is logical."
"Anything else? FASA? SFB? Exeter, New Voyages, Farragut?"
"SFB is by its own admission, a completely different universe. They aren't even allowed to use the name 'Enterprise' beyond the ship rosters. And I would take fan-films with a planetoid size grain of salt. FASA seems to have more potential but I'm not sure how much. Maybe Scotty can check the viability of some of the ship types but a LOT of the material got contraindicated by TNG and other sources."
"Well, at least we'll know we've done everything we can."
Interesting…
There’s also Star Trek Continues to consider if we’re going into secondary sources.
Most expanded universes tend to be confusing and contradictory, especially if they've been around a while. I think the only franchise that could rival Star Trek for being a confusing mess in that regard is Doctor Who. Still, good on Trixie for being prepared.
At least Trixie's done her homework and is willing to help as much as she can, but Sunset's right to advise caution. Good on both of them! :)

it probably be more accurate then anything else.
OH prevent the JJverse from existing would be a HUGE plus.
but the final idea of ship designs is smart and let starfleet check out plausibility and avoid certain design. *COUGH* OBERTH *COUGH*

It unfortunately does exist. We know that Sunset and Trixie did provide them the information about the first movie and thanks to Q that crew and Enterprise crossed over into the main trek universe.

Oh god i forgot. OH GOD WHY!?
Hope they included both episodes of Spock Vs Q.
SFB took that right turn at Santa Fe and kept going, it's still running today ...
It began, of course, with deciding on titles. After nearly coming to blows over which one would get to be Trixie Prime, both agreed to respect a Sunset Shimmer-moderated coin toss that made the human Trixie Great and the unicorn Trixie Powerful. Compared to that mess, combining the spells for the mirror portal with Federation teleporter technology to access wider stretches of probability space was a walk in the park.
New Trixies had to make do with numerical designations, though they were welcome to submit nicknames if they helped in pinpointing the various continuities of the Federation and other galactic powers. Finding a wide variety of Equestrias and human worlds like that of Canterlot High got Twilights and other researchers involved, but Trixies always maintained executive supremacy through a combination of bluster and surprisingly adept managerial talents.
Also, the human Trixies knew goatees were never a good sign. When Trixie Great averted the potential disaster of Trixie-71, everyone agreed to trust the blue girls. Especially the Andorians.

My record is 0-1-1 in 38 years trying to find opponents so I can actually learn to play properly. It IS a shame I can't tap that material. I'd love to see the reaction to the C8 Dreadnought Admiral Kang leading the B10s Invincible and Insatiable through a dimensional tear. Or for the Gorn Godzilla to be real.
And yeah... The Federation could use the services of captains like Anthony Stocker, Phil Kosnett, Merrin Hunter, et al who went through the sort of war that TNG managed to avoid in Yesterday's Enterprise.

So... Is it the ship or the actors you object to? It can't be the plot because the plot and the universe that goes with it got snipped like an errant branch just like Avengers Endgame. Because Romulus never went 'poof!' that timeline didn't really happen. As for the crew? So they get to be schooled by their prime counterparts. Because these kids DO still need some serious teaching.
You can have the fun of a 40-year-old Classic Kirk bringing his 25-year-old counterpart up short because while Kirk would approve of some things (Yeah, not allowing a species to die due to a Super-volcano event is the right thing to do.) But the level of recklessness is not acceptable. And frankly, Kirk probably laid the law down to the lot of them that when he asks for recommendations, that's one thing. When he gives an order, that's another. It's not an invitation to debate. And people's personal problems: (Spock* and Uhura)* stay in their quarters where they belong.
There was a reason I turned the ship over to Kirk (Shatner) when I had Pike take the chair of Chief of Starfleet Operations instead of Kirk. These kids might do okay. But they've got a lot to learn.

The real question has become how did they advert the whole Discovery timeline, since that should have happened. I hope it gets mentioned that Spock (Nemoy) remembers such an event almost happening while Spock (JJ) has no memory of such an event.

I concur on the SFB issue, I had one regular opponent who introduced me to the game in 1993, and sadly he's no longer with us. I tried to teach others but since it's not an app that goes 'bing' no one will learn.
I was planning to go to a big convention in Las Vegas for a genuine Rated Ace tournament in January but it got cancelled for lack of interest + goalpost moving on mask mandate and social distancing issues.
Yep it's a mess and getting more messy every year, the reboot films and the Paramount + shows where like frigging cannon bombs and now that they are going with the time travel mechanic in Picard season 2... No sci-fi franchise recovers once the primary media incorporates multple-timelines and parallel universes as the plot demands. The Marvel and DC Universes will forever be confusing, now StarTrek will never be a "clean" timeline ever again.
11176076
the universe as a whole. just all wrong. the caqst in a proper prequel would have been good. and the ship was horrible
11176082
bad writing and the fact it isn't canon timeline. they are not using the original IP. hence the 25% different for STD and Picard. note Picard only uses two OG IP the Enterprise D and the combadge. everything else is slightly different.
11176129
it's because they keep the current moron Kurtzmen for some odd reason.

I like the external look of the Nu-prise (Not more than the real 1701 but...). But rest assured that the interior of the iMac store will be fixed. We know that the real timeline designers understand the value and use of color and much better lighting. (Yes! I agree that working in those bright white walls and reflective floors that scatter and amplify the harsh lighting would be very hard.)
11176211
the outside is terrible to. I prefer the Discoprise
11176076
hate to talk down to trixie but i enjoyed the dreadnaught novel the star empire was a sweet ship but i get what shes coming from now that i think of it
11176211
now that i think of it what do trixie and bacon hair think of star trek prodigy
11176228
We'll agree to disagree then. Nu-prise got points from me for not lying and claiming she really WAS our classic Enterprise. Oh well! More to come later.

When bad writers discover the "Fix it with time travel" or "twist It's a parallel universe" tropes they don't bother trying to avoid writing themselves into corners because they can just sloppily apply these tropes as bandages. It inevitably leads to ever growing plot holes figuratively duct taped over with weak rules on how time travel or inter-dimeshional travel works. One writer will write the story where the past is imutable wile another writes one where you can change it. One will say people from alternate realities can't stay in the main one or it damages all realities, another all perminatly transplant multiple versions of he same person into the main reality but no one questions it and there is no consiquece.
Speaking of Beta canon there's the whole of Star Trek Online and it's continuation of events... The Federation may want to give more of a thought about the Iconians...
Delving into Memory Beta stuff? Oh dear.
What about STO? It was cannon until Picard nuked it. DISCO tried but the writers on STO shoehorned it in as best they could.
Picard just made some STO ships "cannon" again too.
Going by the "Prime is not OG" timeline thought process then STO would be the original timeline after Nemesis while "Prime" is the 25% different timeline that was created by the Red Angel stuff, making it a splinter universe like Kelvin is/was.
I like that idea, and there is some evidence to point to it, but until Paramount Global says something, its just fan theory.

Of course, Trixie and I both think Diane Carey's writing got MUCH better. Final Frontier (No connection to Star Trek V: TFF) is a great novel and Trixie really wishes that she felt confidence in using some of THAT material because that would open some possibilities and T'Cael is one of the three best Rihannsu/Romulan characters I've ever seen.
FASA did many things right...Battletech being one of them. But I dont know much about there forays into Star Trek.
Well, since Kzinti are a recognized species/race within this particular /Star Trek/ reality via TAS 1x07 "The Infinite Vulcan", 1x12 "The Time Trap", and 1x14 "The Slaver Weapon", this would make Larry Niven's "Known Space" to be an acceptable piece of Source Material.
What about the game Star Trek Borg? That one seems to be loosely canon as it was created to be a type of episode, but I suppose it works out in the end as Q ensures they do
