Just for the hell of it, why not add a few gun trucks from Vietnam? That ought to spice things up a little!

Hello SirAlcatraz,
And while these trucks have no place in "Beyond the Express, they ARE needed for "Tale of 2 Big Boys", "Stitches in Time", and "Battleship Express: Back in Action!" So thank you for your incredibly kind donation of weapons, and you can rest assured that they WILL be used to wreak MASSIVE Futa destruction!
9213389
Just make sure they don't get blown up, it took me 7 PAINSTAKING YEARS to find the trucks (M35A2 and M54 models, respectively) and the weapons (some had to be rebuilt!) AND I almost forgot to give you these!!!

Take good care of my babies, will ya?

A few might get lost, as it IS war, but don't worry, one truck in particular, this one,
americandigest.org/PROUD-AMERICAN-SIDE-5-Jan-04.jpg
Has something VERY special happen to it in the sequel to "Beyond the Express", "Tracks Backwards".
During the attempts to turn an old Wonderbolt training field into a full Air Force Base, complete with planes, (all of which came from the MASSIVE Earth weapons stockpile hidden underneath Canterlot, and revealed in "Beyond the Express" in Chapter 5), a number of vehicles are brought in, including fuel trucks, maintenance vehicles, fire trucks, and crew cars, one gun truck, the one shown above, shows a VERY bizarre set of traits; the vehicle is actually alive! It can't talk, but yet is IS fully sentient! It can move about on its own, fire its own weapons, open and close its doors, turn it's lights on and off, and run like a normal truck would. It can operate with or without a driver, and no one knows why. The ENTIRE truck is taken apart, but no anomalies are found. The truck is dubbed the "Ghost Truck", and it too takes up residence at the Air Force Base. The words "Blue Ghost", are eventually painted on the truck's blue sides, both as a jab at the vehicle being alive, and as a shout out to the aircraft carrier USS Lexington CV-16, who's nickname is the "Blue Ghost", on which a few members of Battalion 4009 who were in the navy served on when the ship was given an emergency reactivation during WW4, and continued in service all the way through WW6, before being placed in reserve again. The ship itself will make an appearance as a floating mobile base and weapons platform in "Battleship Express: Back in Action."
I'll reveal more about weapons as time goes on, but I hope that this was enough to keep you interested!

BTW, did James Bond make it? PLEASE tell me he did!
9218380
Wait, what? James Bond? There’s no James Bond in my stories.
9218678
I meant the stories, not the character. Also, I made some modifications to the gun trucks. The armor is made of a Diamond-Titanium alloy which can survive a point-blank nuclear blast, the top speed is about 200 MPH, they get about 300,000 miles on a single tank, and they're amphibious with a top speed of 100MPH on water! Plus, the Ace of Spades has a 20mm Oerlikon belt-fed auto-cannon with DTFSHE (Diamond-Tipped Fin-Stabilized High-Explosive) rounds AND I picked out the perfect song to play when they charge! Don't ask me how this is possible, just call it mechanical tinkering at it's finest.

Hello SirAlcatraz,
And don't worry, the story is NOT dead! Part 3 is coming, as is Chapter 30, and the epilogue, but unfortunately, my new job has been running me into the ground. I've only been working there a day, but it's been insane. Before that, I had a number of things in my personal life to take care of. I'm still working on it, but it might be a little while longer. It WILL come soon though, I promise!
And thanks for the added information on the gun trucks. I might not use all of them, but they sound really cool all the same.

Scar, you think the Big Boy is big? well, allow me to introduce you to a train so rare, only ONE of it's class is preserved! INTRODUCING... THE UNION PACIFIC 9000 SERIES!!!
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/95/UP_9000_2.jpg/1920px-UP_9000_2.jpg
She weighs 782,000 pounds when fully loaded, has three cylinders, a top speed of 75MPH, a 4-12-2 wheel configuration, a length of 102'7", carrying 42,000 lbs of coal and 18,000 lbs of water! Luckily, I was able to steal this titan away from the Futas, who were going to SCRAP HER! While you were fighting WW6, I stole her from the museum in Pomona, and gunned it to the US, and afterwards, during the Second Cold War, I gave her a few modifications. Her armor is a foot thick, she's dragging a 60 car train with 4 machine guns per car, one missile battery every 10 cars, six 16in guns (2 in front, 2 in back, and 2 in the middle), one AA emplacement every 5 cars, no gunships or drones, one phalanx CWIS per car, and some of the most advanced radar and rangefinders to date! The title of Battleship Express belongs to 4009, but the title of Rail Monster is still up for grabs! Hope you enjoy this wondrous donation, but give her some time to rest, she fought the Futas day and night, and has seen as many hardships as the Battleship Express. Treat her nicely, will you?
9241502
Hello Silver Ghost,
and yes, I can take good care of her. In fact, she is very much remembered for her role in WW6. You called her the "Rail Monster", but the history books remember her by another name; "The Rail Dreadnought".
In the final days of the first half of WW6 in 2025, after UP 9000 and its train escaped from California back to the US, but just before the infamous Battle of Sue Falls, one other steam engine made its escape East. This engine right here.
i.ytimg.com/vi/zsNqyOs09vw/maxresdefault.jpg
Yes, Santa Fe 5000. She may not be quite as big, or as powerful as UP 9000, but she was a one of a kind steam engine, and she hauled heavy freight for the AT&SF for many years. She sat in Texas for a long time, until she was fully restored to run supply trains in WW4, and WW5. She was converted to burn coal again due to a lack of oil, and she was one of the last trains to escape from the Futas, and one of the only steam engines to do so. With the Futas closing in on Amarillo, Texas fast, the crew of Madam Queen knew that they were going to have to get the hell out of Dodge. They did so, and they pulled a 12 car passenger train of refugees as well. The Futas were all around them, and those on Madam Queen were in the fight of their lives. Finally, after the Battle of Sue Falls, on the day that the Armistice was signed, thus sending WW6 into the Second Cold War, Madam Queen charged through a railroad blockade, and crossed a bridge over the Mississippi River, arriving in Louisiana. The train then went North, eventually winding up in West Virginia.
Around this same time, in New York, scientists were looking over UP 9000 and her train after you gave them to the US military. Suddenly, a concept previously dismissed for being impractical was brought back out onto the table. Under the leadership of US General Charles Sumner, and design engineer Jim Bender, they sought to take UP 9000 and her train, and turn them into a weapon of mass destruction. However, upon examining the engine, they realized that many of her parts were worn out, and would have to be replaced. Around this same time, Santa Fe 5000 came to the attention of the brand new Railway Warfare Division (RWD) and they realized that they had an answer to their problem.
Taking Madam Queen, and hooking her to 9000's train, they began to test the weapons's capabilities. What they found SHATTERED their expectations. This train could easily be the deadliest land based weapon of all time. So, with Madam Queen at the helm, teams of soldiers, and train crew were assembled and trained, and the "Rail Dreadnought" was brought to life. When UP 9000's repairs were completed, she was coupled to the train first, and then Madam Queen coupled to her. On the front of Madam Queen was a phalanx cannon, and on the sides of her boiler were 2 forward facing artillery guns. On her roof was an AA gun, as well as 2 machine guns. On 9000's tender were 2 AA guns, and her cab roof had 2 machine guns as well. Now, 9000 was the powerhouse pulling the train, and while Madam Queen helped her, she also protected the tracks in front of the train.
During final testing, the Rail Dreadnought once again shattered all expectations, however, the RWD still needed another train. The Rail Dreadnought was the final design prototype for the weapons, and just after her trials were complete, in late August of 2026, another train and its crew, Big Boy 4009, also called Big Boy 4025, escaped from Creamy Dream Ranch in Kansas, and returned to the US. War was on the horizon, and the RWD, as well as the rest of the US Armed forces knew that the time had come to fight back, and hard!
Building on what they'd learned from the Rail Dreadnought, 4009 and her train of freight cars became the deadliest land-based weapon of all time. A 36 car war train that would become the flagship of the RWD fleet. Joined by her supply train, the 4-4-0 Iron Glory, 4009 would become immortalized under the name that EVERYONE knows her as, "Battleship Express".
However, even though the Battleship Express now existed, she was NOT the only war train out there. Even though the Rail Dreadnought was only a prototype war train, she was STILL used, and used a LOT! Sure, she wasn't nearly as well known as her big cousin Battleship Express, but while she was liberating the cities, the Rail Dreadnought was liberating the towns and countryside all around, often at the same time. In fact, the crew of the Battleship Express, and Battalion 4009 all trained on the Rail Dreadnought, and they served on her again during the 4 month period that the Battleship Express was down for emergency repairs following a sabotage of the engine's boiler.
After the Battleship Express went missing following the Battle of Vegas, the Rail Dreadnought became the flagship of the RWD fleet, and she served in EVERY major battle post-Vegas, from Reno Nevada, all the way through California, (San Diego, San Francisco, Las Angeles, etc) all the way to the final strong hold of the Futas in Oregon. She returned home victorious, the same as the engines who pulled her, 9000, and 5000. After WW6, she went into reserve, and was eventually put on display in a museum built for WW6. The Rail Dreadnought was the star attraction, and many people wondered if she would ever be used again. And in truth, yes she would be........
If you allow me to use 9000 and her train, plus Madam Queen to become the Rail Dreadnought, then your train will become canon in the Battleship Express Universe! In the upcoming story "Battleship Express: Back in Action!" which takes place 3 stories after "Beyond the Express", (or just after, if you don't consider the 3 stories of the "Timeline Arc" canon) the Futas launch all-out war on Equestria, and ALL hands are needed! When the Battleship Express is knocked out of the fight, a new train is DESPERATELY needed! In their hour of greatest need, the Universe sends the Rail Dreadnought and her crew to Equestria, and she shows the Futas what she's made of! 9000 and 5000 ride the rails again, this time to WHOLLY eradicate the Futas! I've already mentioned Madam Queen and the Rail Dreadnought in a previous chapter, but now if you'll allow me, I'll add 9000 to the mix, and your WHOLE TRAIN becomes canon to the story!
Will you let me make your train canon? If you do, I will credit you with the original idea both in the story's description, and then again when I write the first chapter with it in it.
9241922
ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY!!! Go for it, Leopard! Make "The Rail Dreadnought" come back!
9241928
Thanks. I know that a LOT of railroad fans will be VERY happy when the Rail Dreadnought makes her first appearance!
9241940
But the thing is, there are now 89 9000 series trains! I built one with the help of my friends and family, so technically my train is being pulled by UP 9089. Feel free to use UP 9089, "The Rail Monster" (I was originally going to go with "The Rail Kraken", but I thought monster sounded more intimidating, and the kraken is a sea monster).
9241951
For the "Rail Dreadnought" in the story, I'm going to go with what you told me originally, and have UP 9000 be the one that was rescued from California, as well as her train. The Rail Dreadnought is pulled by Santa Fe 5000 and UP 9000, and has the 60 cars of weapons that you described. I explained how it all works in my first comment when I mentioned the idea, so I'll go with what I originally came up with, plus the idea that you explained to me.
9241959
Thanks. Just thank GOD I didn't bring up the flop that was the 4-14-4!
9241965
You're welcome. Just as I should be thanking YOU for the great idea!
9241976
You know what I believe the greatest steam engine to ride the rails is? It's on par with my love for the Big Boy, which is the reason I read the first story. Here she is, yet again the only one of her kind, THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD S1, THE BIG ENGINE!!!
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/25/Locomotive_Pennsylvania.jpg
After giving UP 9000 to the US, and with the help of people who probably knew little to nothing about her, we built her from the wheels up, with diamond-coated armor, twice as thick as that on UP 9000, 2 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF GUNS, 2 times the amount of cars, a power boost to make for a maximum top speed of 160MPH with all that weight, a massive firebox and boiler upgrade to maintain that top speed for several days, some other upgrades to maker lighter and work on all sorts of tracks, and a PORTABLE LASER CANNON JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT!!! I like to call this S1 "レールのゴジラ" (pronounced reru no gojira), meaning "Godzilla of the Rails" in Japanese. ENJOY THE MONSTER!!!
9241982
Yeah, I know about PRR S1 6100. She was a prototype, and was the largest engine ever built for passenger service. She was also the only 6-4-4-6 engine ever built. She had issues with wheel-slippage, and she couldn't navigate most of the curves on the PRR system due to her not being an articulated locomotive. Some claim that she once made 156mph, but this was never properly documented, and the crew were fined for excessive speeding.
And wow, that's a LOT of weapons and armor for one train! However, I have to know, how do you deal with the wheel-slippage, and of course, HOW do you get 6100 to go around most curves? The real one was simply too big, and she didn't articulate like a Mallet locomotive would.
9242069
A LOT of mechanical tinkering and modifications, as well as making the train (and all 120 cars) lean with hydraulic pistons and actuators to counteract the force of gravity, not to mention the magnet wheels, which stick to the track to prevent the train from derailing. Here's the list of mods and changes *rolls out a list with 10,000 items listed*.
9242089
Oh, ok.
9242092
Feel free to use her, if you want to. By the way, can this song be played if she's ever put into the canon? Considering she was not only the largest train built for passenger service, but is bigger than the Big Boy in some ways, AND holds the record for the longest and heaviest rigid frame reciprocating steam locomotive ever built, I feel like it's fitting for this to be blaring through outside speakers. She's painted white, so I have a feeling the Futas are going to call her "The White Death".
9242099
It's an interesting idea, but I already have all of the trains that I'm going to need. I was planning on adding PRR 6100 to another story, but that's a whole different universe, and a whole different story. Thanks for the idea anyway though.
9242123
OK. Knock this story out of the park!
9242130
When I get to it, I'll sure do my best too!
9242151
By the way, I found a TRUE RAIL MONSTER!!! If this train is ever put in the canon, I will be very suprised!
9242763
No known examples of such an engine are known to exist, and no, it won’t be put into Battleship Express canon either!
9243099
Can't wait to see how this goes! And I kinda saw that one coming.
9243192
It'll probably be a while, but it WILL happen soon!
9247411
Hey, Scar, ever heard of Group B? I wonder what the ponies would think of it!
9256355
No, I haven't heard of Group B. And while some Ponies might think that it was cool, I imagine that most others would think that it was insane!
9256923
To summarize Group B in one sentence, ALL HELL BREAKING LOOSE IN A MATTER OF SECONDS.
9257604
Definitely NOT for Equestria!
9257671
Considering the cars weighed less than a ton, could reach speeds of 60MPH in less than 3 seconds on GRAVEL, and have anywhere between 400-600 horsepower, that's probably a good idea!
9257709
Maybe for a different story, but not here in the Battleship Express Universe. It’s not going to happen, sorry.
9258608
Ok
9259429
Interesting idea though.
9259543
Oh, thanks.
9259646
You're welcome.
9259687
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/88/Monitor_model2.jpg/324px-Monitor_model2.jpg
Have an Ironclad, on me!
9266054
Thanks! We needed some more guns and armor, and this’ll work just fine! We can sail it, and mount it to a car to serve as a gun platform. Thank you Silver Ghost!
9266155
I made a few * ahem* modifications to the resurrected Monitor (THATS RIGHT. WE GAVE YOU THE ORIGINAL MONITOR!). She can move at speeds up to 30 knots, her armor is as thick as 4 feet in some areas, her cannons are recoil actuated breech-loaders and are faster to reload, it takes 10 seconds for the turret to make a full 360 degree rotation, she carries 8 AAMRAM missiles for AA, 8 bunker busters, and any sort of cannon round you can imagine! APFSDS, HEAT, HE, HESH, AP, even airburst and nuclear! We terrorized the Futa rivers, destroying bases left and right, and the Futas that (somehow) survived her attacks called her “The River Demon”.
9266262
Whoa! That’s amazing! Thanks for the donation!
And the River Demon you say? So that means that you were among the ones defending the US side of the Mississippi River, and terrorizing the Futas on their side. It was thanks to those along the River that the Futas never got across, and enabled US Forces to attack St. Louis, and then liberate the rest of the US.
9266605
We did a lot of the heavy work, softening up the defenses (and sometimes destroying them!) to make way for the invasion. During one of these attacks, I met my wife, Madeline (General Jasmine's sister and, for some odd reason, a Herm!). We captured her after a missile missed the target and hit a yacht behind the base, which was holding a party during the Battle of Memphis. She was one of the few who didn't die from hypothermia, and the shock of hitting the cold water of the Mississippi River. After a few months, (and a night in bed with her) I got pregnant, and had a Herm daughter named Rebecca. The Monitor arrived only a few minutes after you guys did, and we had a spy on board who helped cause the incident at Dock Town! (guess who that was!) And while fighting off a caribou naval platoon that was foolish enough to try to attack us, we BLASTED music through the loudspeakers, and LET 'EM HAVE IT!
9266623
General Madeline House. I heard Jasmine admit that she had a sister named Madeline, but that she disowned her for being a Herm, and loving America. Jasmine said that she killed Madeline, but obviously she didn’t.
I’m glad that she survived though. The world needs more proof that Herms aren’t evil, and I’m glad that she and Rebecca proved that. My wife Carla could have done so, but who knows what happened to her post-Vegas, assuming that she even survived. God bless you whenever you are Carla. PLEASE come back to me! I miss you.
And let me guess, YOU were the spy at Dock Town?
9266990
(For the sake of my OCD, comments MUST remain equal!)
9266990
NOPE! It was a traitorous caribou name Johann! Although he did have to file down his horns to make room for the cramped spaces of the Monitor (We installed lights to see better, but in reality, they broke whenever we took a bad hit!).
